Most people are just not aware of the rules yet , Hardly anyone at MLB games wears them. It's not going to be like flipping a switch. It'll take a few weeks to transition, especially while there's still confusion on which stores require them and which ones don't.

The general public is not as aware of things as the people in CVON, which does not say much for the Public

I don't want to wear them forever. But running away from masks at this stage is taking one's foot off the neck of a dying beast. 

My major issue is with people who equate masks with tyranny and child abuse. And yes, this is a sentiment that is too common.

These fools are out there thinking they're patriots lining up with muskets at Lexington, throwing off the shackles of slavery.

If you are vaccinated the science say the chances of both getting the virus and passing it own are pretty much non existent so what is the point of the mask if vaccinated?

My focus largely has been on my kids. They're all too young for the vaccine as yet. So they still should be masked.

I think a lot of it is people just being tepid. 14 months of masks became normal, and it's going to take some time to build up trust that people in public 1. won't be judged for going without a mask (especially in a Dem area) and 2. are vaccinated.

For idiots here who would jump on #1, if you wear a mask in a blood red area you're going to get harassed. Let's not act like anybody has moral superiority here.

these people are idiots, and I see this coming back to bite them in November. that of course depends on the voters, but we'll see. 

I'm debating just pulling our kids for the last week. not that I'm overly concerned about COVID, just to protest stupidity.

Not only would I pull my kid from school for the week... I would call the Dept. of Ed., Health Dept, local elected officials... anyone who will listen since the board openly and publicly flouted public health guidelines. Yeah, I’m that parent. The school board should be recalled for stupidity. 

My unvaccinated kid is not going into any building where there are hoards of unvaccinated people unmasked.

I feel sorry for the kids too, they shouldn’t have to go through this, but what was the alternative?  Pretend that kids aren’t able to spread COVID to adults?  I think little Johnny spreading COVID to his grandparents and killing them would do far greater mental harm to him than having 1 year of his life suck. 
For me personally, my motivation for being safe and then getting vaccinated as soon as possible wasn’t so much to protect myself, but to reduce the chance that I spread it to my parents.

I really hope kids weren’t totally isolated. My family made the most of our time together. We spent more time together than we normally would in years. We were all home together on telework, kid at school on a laptop. Teachers gave students plenty of time to interact together. We had scouts meetings on Zoom. We met other kids outside when safe, when virus levels were low,  wearing masks, limiting chance for transmission.  We found another family we trust, to pod our kids with. He met more kids he knows online, on devices, since they were all gaming more. Damn cell phones aren’t a problem if used correctly. Monitor what the kids are using them for. You’re paying the bill, right?

Most of the grocery stores near me still require them regardless of if you are vaccinated. This is also in a heavy Dem area.

Whatever, it’s not the end of the world IMO.
