My wife works in the medical field.  There is two newborns in the NICU at our largest hospital fighting for their lives from Covid.

I would be willing to bet they are not fat, out of shape, diabetic or extremely old.

 

Both a friend's anti-vaxx, Trumpbot nitwit parents, just passed from COVID. Both were old and had other issues, but still.

 

Have they been vaccinated, they would most likely still be alive. The virus does not care about your party affiliation.

We just got notified that 2 employees here were exposed.  Asking the unvaccinated to wear a mask next 10 days.  I know of 1 co worker not vaccinated, he was on vaca last week, came back this week, left to work remote yesterday, but is here today.  I don't think it is him.  Are the 2 employees here?  Or are they remote today?  I don't know.  I'll just hang in my cube.  Might go back to masking up walking in and out, and when in a store.  Rite Aid the other day almost everyone was wearing a mask.  I wondered if I missed a sign or something?

The delta variant is racing up north, rippling out from the explosion in the south. Even vaccinated folks are urged to wear masks indoors in high- or substantial-transmission areas. LINK  Which now covers most of the country. LINK

Just anecdotally a lot of small stores near me went from "no masks if vaccinated" to "masks encouraged" to " must wear a mask" over the past month. The bigger chain stores haven't yet but the ratio of masked customers is much higher now. I imagine it will continue to trend that way while Delta is rising unfortunately.

I've been getting extensions on my due dates due to people not working.  Especially in the south and mid west.  Let alone the supply issues.  It's taking way longer to get anything done.

I don't mask when I walk outside, but there aren't many people around where I walk.

I have been masking up in stores because I know too many of the people where I shop. I know they are not vaccinated. We were supposed to fly to CO next week - don't think we will, although we are talking about driving out. No desire to be on airplane where some of  the people have fake vaccine cards.

Last night our school board voted to mandate masks until cases drop to 20 per 100k for a given week as reported by the county. Lots of the trumpbot parents were pissed. One of them was shouting and interrupted the board president. They threatened to leave the district at which point me and my wife looked at each other and we were both like:

I've had to fly, and honestly, they do a good job making sure people are wearing masks. Plus, the air filtration systems are strong. 

I'm flying to Vegas on Friday.

Thanks for asking.  The storm ended up being really minor by us somehow. Didn't lose power or any trees or anything. It was kinda fun to watch it roll in over the bay. Plus it blew in some really cool stuff like bioluminescent jellyfish and big ol horseshoe crabs.
