Yep, the results have pointed at possible positive results but inconclusive. They haven’t in any way proven that there are no positive effects. Odds are there won’t be any significant positive effects but as you say nothing is settled yet. In the study the NYTimes article linked to (link below) you can see their conclusion (quote below). Nothing settled and they refer to several other studies underway including Oxford.
