Hmmm, so the big takeaways from the article appear to be:

1) Schools should enforce mask mandates

2) unvaccinated people and people who refuse to mask are selfish **** and harming others

3) even incredibly high risk patients who would very likely die from COVID normally are surviving now that they're vaxxed

4) even those that are triple vaxxed are not protected from serious illness

Thanks for posting this illuminating article KZ!

I, for one, am glad to see a trumpbot finally going to bat for the immunocompromised by advocating for school mask mandates, vaccine mandates, and in general looking out for the wellbeing of others. It took a while, but 18 months late is better than never!

They took care of that problem this time didn't they.

So you agree with the rest! Progress!

It's important to note that he works in a school where many would likely not be eligible to receive the shot. Very sad case.

If only there were other ways to help protect others. Like, wearing a mask for example. I don’t know why nobody has thought of that.

There's a lot of data that shows mask mandates have been mostly useless. I'm talking data from all over the world and in the US. Not a huge mask guy anymore.

@DEagle7

As suspected, ACIP shot down the idea of recommending pfizer boosters to moderna recipients. This rules out my dad and in-laws getting boosted anytime soon even though they are the most at risk due to their age. And also frustrating/surprising was their stance on occupational exposure risk. I want to grab these people by the shoulders and give them a good shake. We need to start being proactive rather than reactive if we ever want to get ahead of this thing.

A number of ACIP members questioned whether the committee could recommend that people who received the Moderna or Johnson & Johnson vaccine should be allowed to seek a Pfizer booster. But the FDA said it had no data on which to conclude getting a third shot of another vaccine would be as effective as a third shot of one’s original vaccine.

Peter Marks, director of FDA’s vaccines division, told the committee FDA understands the frustration about not being able to give boosters at this point to people who did not get the Pfizer vaccine. The agency is working with manufacturers and will try to fill this gap as quickly as possible, he said.

...

The committee voted against recommending a booster to anyone 18-64 who is in an occupational or institutional setting where burden of Covid-19 infection and risk of transmission is high. A vote in favor would have cleared the way for all health care workers to get an additional dose of vaccine.

Welp, at this point I'm just gonna lie about it and claim preexisting condition.  I'm about 9 months past my first vaccines by now and seeing multiple COVID cases a week.  ACIP can go F itself.

If there's no indication from the FDA that they'll approve 5-11 by end of October, I'll be doing the same for myself to help further reduce the risk of passing on anything to my kids. From what I've heard, there are plenty of pharmacies where there's no questions asked, you just show up and get your shot, wait 15min, and then you're on your way. Worst case is maybe it gets denied by your insurance but at this point, IDGAF about the $20 or whatever it might cost.

My aunt/uncle both got Pfizer boosters after Moderna shots from a pharmacy a while back.  She's immunocompromised but they didn't care about the type of vaccine.  He was just there to drive her and the pharmacist said "you're in healthcare, you want a booster?"

It seems as if most of them don't give a damn

Masks have just become theatre now. They are a way for some people to make themselves think they are better than others

I mean that and reduce the spread of a deadly disease. Small detail.

Since I have been wearing a mask at all times when I go out in public, I haven't been sick. Not even a cold. I believe my anecdotal evidence here would make me an expert if I record a YouTube video about it. Then pro mask people can watch my video and say they did their research. Checkmate.

At the height of mask mandates cases soared, big detail.

Mask mandates were in response to the peaking cases, not in lieu of them.

Do we seriously have to go all the way back to "do masks work?" in here? That was like 12 moronic made up pseudoscience theories ago. We've moved on to horse paste and spiked salad dressing now.  Try to keep up.

Me 2. Still considering getting the Flu Shot.

I always get the flu shot. Even though its only 45% effective, I've never gotten the flu when I've gotten the flu shot.

Study claiming 1 in 1,000 risk of heart inflammation after COVID vaccine got calculation wrong

U.S. CDC backs COVID-19 boosters for high-risk workers, director breaks with panel

CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said her agency had to make recommendations based on complex, often imperfect data.

"In a pandemic, even with uncertainty, we must take actions that we anticipate will do the greatest good," she said in a statement.

Very sad. Did all that she could, even getting a third shot.

Important move by Gosar here. I think it would go a long way in helping the vaccine hesitant to have clear transparent numbers about how rare adverse side effects are reported. The government intentionally obfuscating these numbers does nothing but breed more distrust.
