Just saw on reddit that this is indeed likely the case, so new vials will have to be shipped out to every pharmacy / clinic / etc, which means late Nov for shots in arms is now the optimistic timeline. Frustrating.

Frustrating. Pfizer has been ramping up production of lower dose vaccine in preparation for approval. LINK Quote Pfizer and BioNTech are now ramping up production of the lose dose paediatric version in anticipation of regulatory approvals. Hopefully it won't take so long. But there will be a big rush for the vaccine as soon as it is approved.

Realistically, that likely means late November at the earliest for anyone like me who has been waiting for this for months.

This is the first time they had to switch concentrations. Sounds like they are going to target the same volume at a lower concentration, which means all new vials need to be shipped.

October 7, 20214 yr I also got a flu shot yesterday. Today I have potentially 2 exposures. Daughter had a rapid test at school yesterday, was negative. We went out to dinner last night. She feels ill again today, and is going for another test (pcr) this afternoon. Unvaccinated co-workers' girlfriend just tested positive. Don't know if he is or not, yet. Are these rapid tests and the ones that will eventually be for sale for personal use reliable?

I'd get a couple tests to make sure you get consistent results and start in on an ivermectin regimen right away just to be safe. Hope this helps.

They are known for having false negatives (~10-20% which is not great), but not so much for false positives(~1-3%). In other words, if a rapid test is negative, you still might be positive. If a rapid test is positive, you're almost certainly positive. PCR is much more accurate, 99.9% or some such.
October 7, 20214 yr 19 minutes ago, DiPros said: Are these rapid tests and the ones that will eventually be for sale for personal use reliable? The rapid test is more likely to give you a false negative, because you need a significant amount of virus to produce a positive result. Meaning you could test negative but still be carrying the virus. The PCR test is likely to be more accurate.

In fact my wife’s class class had two kids last week that tested positive on the rapid test the school does every week (choice to opt in as parents to get that done) but then the next day they get a PCR test and it’s negative. the rapid tests can give a positive result if you have or had a cold recently because Covid is in the same family of viruses. They only tell you "yes” a virus is present. The PCR tests are Covid specific. They also have PCR tests for Covid and flu and can distinguish between them so that eliminates the "but it’s the flu” arguments.

October 7, 20214 yr Co worker is negative. Pretty sure my daughter will be to. I think her symptoms are more job/stress related.
