If Ben played aggressive like this every night he could legitimately be a 20 point per game guy. He’s also 12-13 from the line tonight. I know he won’t but geeeez if he ever just consistently played aggressive like tonight he could do it.

He’s playing great. But this is what is frustrating with him. He is capable of dominating games when he actually chooses to be aggressive. But he just rarely plays that style of ball.

People will talk up his effort after the game and he will go in to his shell again just to prove to people he doesn't need to appease them and he still gets paid.

Ben doing it all.

Thybulle may be a mess on offense but his defense is a major asset.

It just makes no sense. He could be one of the greats if he wanted to. His combination of size, strength and speed is SO rare. All he needs to do is be aggressive and he really can’t be stopped. But he just doesn’t have that mindset most nights.

He probably saw that he not even top 10 in all star votes.

Plus,  he's going against Mitchell tonight.

Plus the team lost 2 in a row.  They set a goal not to ever do that.  Don't want to drop 3 in a row.

Utah has the best record in the league.

Plus he will want to show he can win without embiid,  while they've not done well without Ben.

Bunch of external motivators.  It most likely isn't the beginning of anything new. Just one of his 5 yearly great games, where there are enough outside things to motivate him since he can't be bothered to care on a regular basis.

who do you want scoring 30?  embiid or simmons?  it's hard for simmons to get 30 every game with embiid being our 1A.  when embiid's in the game our offense goes through him.  if simmons is getting 30, someone's losing touches..  embiid included.  it's only after that simmons worries about getting his average ppg.  then he has to make sure our other guys gets their 3's.  he's a leader or leads the league in assisted 3's.

Nobody is asking for 30 every game from Ben. He’s only averaging 14... there’s plenty of middle ground between 14 and 30. With his natural talent there is no reason he shouldn’t be a 20-22 point average even with Embiid in the lineup.

Like i said above if he plays aggressive especially when they stagger him and embiid for some minutes he could easily get to the line 8 times per game and average 20-21. He just needs to actually ply aggressive game in and game out which he doesn’t do

Exactly. Embiid is clearly the biggest scorer. But there’s no reason Ben can’t average 20-22 with his combination of size, strength and speed. It’s all about mindset.

Why it’s maddening. If he ever consistently puts in the routine energy and aggressiveness like he legitimately is a monster.

Shouldn’t even be out there. His defense also sucks. He is beaten laterally every time and it causes guys to get out of position and give up open shots. It always starts with him being beat off the dribble. You are better off with thybulle. He doesn’t take dumb shots and he’s basically giving you the same as green on offense

Only the posters in this thread would try to spin Ben Simmons having a 40-point triple-double as indicative of his serious flaws as a basketball player.

Harris, howard, curry and Simmons 103 points and the rest of the team 20. Can make the case their bench is as bad as it is because shake is out but also years of pissing away assets which they could’ve built up their role players and bench.

They lost because they don’t have Shake or Embiid in the line-up.

Danny Green was 1-6 for 3 points in 29 minutes.  Korkmaz 0-5 for 0 points in 21 minutes.  That’s not good enough against a team that’s 23-5.

So wait...he shows he has it in him to be great once in a while, but then goes back to being tentative and not giving a bleep most games and that's on us for pointing that out? Think not. That does show some of his flaws as a basketball player.

It's not about the scoring.  It's about what he does to that offense with spacing.  Teams can literally laugh at him on a fast break while he thinks he can just take it to the hoop.  When you have someone like Embiid, then you have have 4 defenders crash inside because they know Ben won't shoot an 8 foot jump shot, then it's a huge detriment to the offense.  The spacing on a tiny court is destroyed by Ben Simmons.  I hate it, because I am a Ben supporter, but if he can't get out of his own way and just shoot the damn basketball.......Embiid could average 35 points/gm.

Great players are consistent.  I get it.  I think he always plays hard, but sometimes he’s too tentative.

so many people say ben would be amazing without embiid and would finally take that next step.  i think tonight was a flash of that and why i say we keep him.  his career will last longer than embiid's...  and when embiid finally starts to slow down, i'd want simmons to still be around to build around.  hopefully by that time, the sixers would have already won a couple with both of them.

Agree. But that's what everyone is frustrated about just saying it in different ways. I think he thinks he plays hard, but if he gave a bleep he would have that determination and drive each game.
