Haliburton had a great game the other night against the Sixers.  He’s not usually that good.

Why not? 2 games out of first with Ben’s ****-ass sulking instead of playing. They’re already contenders in the East with Jo playing the way he is this year. Adding those two pieces would have definitely helped.

Jesus man.  How many times do you need to be told that the regular season don’t mean ish?  I bet you were excited for when Jalen Hurts"led” the Eagles to the playoffs too.

he is right though. this is a team that as constructed will likely finish 1st place in the east.

Now what is the gap between the 1st place Eastern Conference team, and beating the best team in the West?

Some will say it takes another super star. Some of us believe adding to players the caliber of Hield and Haliburton with the level Embiid is playing at would make us contenders with anyone.

On the other hand, if the best super star you get is washed up Harden... that may not be enough either.

You laid out the best possible way this could’ve worked.  Morey failed, again.  He is quickly wearing out his welcome.

washed up harden is having a down year on a dysfunctional team...and putting up 22/10/8

agreed. i don't even like harden but he's super talented...putting up 22.5/10/8 while basically sleepwalking this season.

I'd take Hield for 20mm for the next 2 years over that trash.  Hield's shooting 38% from the FIELD!  Add that to Embiid and it's a stroll to the finals.

Well considering the playoffs don’t start for some time now, what exactly do we have to go by other than the regular season? The East is wide open, and when you’ve got Embiid playing at this level you absolutely are a contender for the conference. Are they the favorite? No. Not right now, but the whole debate was how much better their chances would be if Morey had actually done the Kings deal.

Only reason i like the kings deal is i believe haliburton in 2-3 years is going to be a legitimate star in this league but I’ve thought that since he was drafted. However if you don’t believe he is then the value isn’t anywhere close to what you potentially could get even from an aging harden. I think he and maxey in 3 years would be an incredible backcourt but by that point who knows what embiid would be.

Have you watched him though? He lost his first step and his shooting % from FG and 3 are down a good amount.

And that hammy is acting up again.

Yeah. Thats still productive and will be a great help to Embiid. But hes been on a steady decline. Dont want to see what his contract extension looks like.

the flaw in that logic is acting as if it was an either or scenario. It wasnt. We could have had all of them.

Of course you don't put it into context. He is shooting 71.4% of his shots from 3 so of course he will have a low FG%. But you don't say he is shooting 36.8% on 9 attempts and is a career 40% on 7.6 attempts.

Really the timeline is tied to Embiid.  Do you want to wait and hope Hali to develops into a star while wasting prime Embiid or get a top 5-10 player to pair with him either this year or next?  That's really the crux of it.  I think Hali has potential but I'm not sure I want to wait for it.  Embiid is on a mission.  Get him a legit star.  Trade Ben for Harden, dump Harris on OKC and sign Thad off the street is the best bet for this year and probably next.

I don't know about a star but a guy like Dejounte Murray who was my number 1 target for the longest.

Yeah.  He doesn't defend and can't finish at the rim.  I just don't think he brings anything worth near his paycheck.  We have Curry for that role already.

I mean if you have watched Haliburton play you really don't have to wait a few years for him. Get him acclimated playing next to Maxey and Maxey getting use to playing off ball and let them roll.

Dude can play and has a better WAR than Harden this year. Harden D has really regressed.

I posted what bodner said in yhe tweet. Only way they could outright sign harden is if they traded tobias and then traded Simmons in the offseason to a team with cap space like spurs and now Portland which they wouldn’t take much back cause financially they couldn’t.

Because having one knockdown shooter is enough. Why do the Sixers need a guy that can finish at the rim when would have Maxey and Haliburton

He has better advanced defensive metrics than Harden.

the whole big story of the Kings being willing to take Harris for Barnes, was that Barnes was then going to free up the cap space. In that scenario, Ben and Harris were out. Youd have Hield and Haliburton, and cap space to sign harden, or at least space to be allowed to do a sign and trade in which case you just have to be under the apron so you arent hard capped.

Wait for the March Embiid injury.

Haliburton + Hield + Harden is better than just Harden. Anyone who wants to argue otherwise is just arguing to argue.

Shooters are fine.  Tying up 20 million per for the next 2 seasons for just that is not.  That's pretty much all I have to say on Hield.  If his price tag was half of what it is, then sure...bring him onboard.  He's not being paid like the role player he is.  Again, no beef with Hali.  He's certainly flashed some potential.  He's just got some growing to do.  Playoff basketball is a whole different animal.  Just ask Ben.

My only question is what happens to the kid in that scenario? You trading Maxey?
