Expectations are lowering after each game.  I honestly don’t think they’ll get out of the first round.  Need a bench scorer (or 2) and guys with some flat out athleticism who can defend for next year.

Team sucks but shout out to Tobi for showing up.

Even in a down year, Tobi is shooting 47.7% from the field which is right in line with his career average. Of course he would come around eventually but this is definitely an interesting conundrum so far.   When Harden/Maxey/Embiid were putting up 75+ points but Tobi was only giving us 8 or whatever, folks were excited about the Big 3 and how the team looked overall.  However, Tobi wasn't in rhythm yet and he was getting the heat.  Last couple games Tobi is looking more  like the January/pre-Harden February Tobi but now the team doesn't look as good overall.  Harden and Maxey in particular.

Glenn Anton Rivers needs to help them find a way to balance this.  Joel gets his 30, Harden gets 20 - 25 and Tobi and Maxey get 15 - 20...consistently.  The tide must raise all four boats at the same time.

Thybulle with as many points tonight as me on my couch… 0

We should have gave up Thybulle instead of Curry

People kept saying afterwards giving up Curry wouldn't matter.

There seems to be a lot of concern about the Sixers right now...

Thybulle is basically Ben Simmons but not as good a defender. Also Tobias ( I know he had a good game in Orlando) needs to pick up the slack. He can’t show up one game then go MIA then next 3. He’s getting payed to be a Superstar act like one.

They can’t keep starting Thybulle. Good defender or not, you can’t have one of your starting 5 putting up zero points. Matisse has goose-egged three of the last six games. That just can’t happen with a starter.

Granted, he only player 18 minutes so at least Doc didn’t keep him out there too long.

With that said, let’s put this game in perspective though. If you look at Orlando overall, yes their record is horrible. But they’ve actually been playing really well recently. Just beat the Timberwolves on Friday (wolves are hot too, won 8 of last 10), only lost by 3 to the Suns last week. Beat the Raptors recently.

Its almost like simmons never left

Defense doesnt make up for no offense. The player has to at least do something on offense. Thats why you hear so much about 3 and D players over the years. Maybe all they can do is stand in the corner and hit 3s, but its something. You dont hear about teams looking to sign just defensive specialists. Thybulle is a failed experiment. I hope he is gone in the summer.

Yeah not looking good for him. All he had to do is develop a three point shot that was just average and he’d be a useful piece. Just hasn’t been able to do it, and in fact his 3P% has gone DOWN each year.

I’m sure there are a few examples, but off the top of my head I cannot recall a player who shot the three progressively worse his first three seasons, and eventually turned it around to become a decent shooter.

the odds were never in his favor because he played college all 4 years. He was close to maxed by the time he entered the league. But his shot didnt look bad, and he seems like he works. But.... its gone in the other direction somehow.

attach tisse to a tobi deal in the offseason.

The problem with Thybulle, unlike Ben, is he's not afraid to shoot.

Come on.  No excuse.  The Magic didn't almost beat the Sixers last night, the Sixers almost beat the Sixers last night.

Another game where they came out slow in the 1st quarter.  Another game with no movement in the half court, in the first half.  You got two ball dominate guys who everyone clears out for and they just try to draw fouls.  That's not a strategy that gets them in rhythm and others involved.  And people wonder why Tobi has been slow to adjust, it's because he's told to stand there and watch and then bail out Embiid or Harden when they dribble into a double.  Can Tobi knock down more, like last night, sure.  But the offense is stale because there is no offense.

And is there a more unlikable young player in the NBA than Cole Anthony?  Complete opposite from Maxey.

This is a problem when you have Harden on your team. It's everyone standing around waiting for him to either pass, shoot or drive and try to draw a foul. It's been the same sheet everywhere he has been. He takes the whole team out of rythm waiting on him.

Now you have Embiid doing the same sheet.

So you're saying they're not a good fit?  Hmmm

All we needed around Joel is a bunch of Summer League Isaiah Joes. Which is basically Haliburton. and Bridges. Desmond Bane. And OG Anunoby.  Guys who can shoot the 3, or attack closeouts effectively. And can create their own shot when needed, but arent ball dominant. And its why Joe should be playing a lot more minutes.

Morey, and a whole bunch of people in this thread are obsessed with stacking stars. It creates a higher scoring potential in any given game, but less efficiency overall. On a night when the contested ISO shots arent falling, you get trash. We have seen both ends of the spectrum already. Its not going to change. And you never know which end youll be on on any given night.

Doc Popovich will figure it out.

Not an excuse, just saying the Magic lately have played better than their season record.Sixers definitely need to figure things out over these next few weeks

embiid has been inefficient since the all star break...glenn's iso offense is probably wearing him down. and there still aren't enough shooters around jojo & harden. niang is really the only guy who knows his role & sticks to it.

Its probably hurt these last few games missing green, believe it or not. He was actually shooting it well the night he got his finger cut.

I dont think we even noticed hes been out of the lineup because he usually invisible. But the results have been noticeable. We have struggled with floor spacing, and shooting.

I wonder if this lineup on the floor could make some sense:

Embiid/Niang/Harris/Maxey/Harden

Thybulle has to be on the floor when we are trying to close out a game with a lead. Not when we need scoring. At this point we'd be better off starting Danny Green.

possibly. But Harris at the 3 is another adjustment for him to make. so he will slump a long time and probably not be as effective there.

I think when Green's finger is healed, he just needs to come back to the starting lineup, and keep Harris at the 4.
