possibly. But Harris at the 3 is another adjustment for him to make. so he will slump a long time and probably not be as effective there.

I think when Green's finger is healed, he just needs to come back to the starting lineup, and keep Harris at the 4.

I've never really liked Harris at the 4, but it's the new way in the NBA. He's really a tweener to me. But I hear you -- asking him to play the 3 will probably make his head explode.

I really think Niang needs more minutes.

Suddenly, I'm wishing the JJ rumors a few weeks ago were true.

That's what gets me about Tobi more-so than the contract.  Statistically he's Joe Johnson but slightly more efficient from the field. Considering Joe Johnson's career earnings Tobias is on par adjusted for inflation.

What's frustrating is how he's such a slow adjuster to change or set back.  Between his shoulder issue and missing Ben at the beginning of the season it basically took him two months to return to being Tobi.  Then Harden comes and again Tobi regresses for a while now (hopefully) he's getting his groove back.  But yeah, moving him to the 3 at this point could throw him off balance for 2 - 3 weeks or more and we don't have that kind of time.

Shake is looking like another guy who slumps after a set back.  We need that kid to progress and not regress.

the 3 & 4 aren't any different on offense. basically, everybody stands outside the 3 point line on offense.   the only change would be tobi guarding 3's on defense.

embiid has been inefficient since the all star break...glenn's iso offense is probably wearing him down. and there still aren't enough shooters around jojo & harden. niang is really the only guy who knows his role & sticks to it.

Honestly it’s why i said when the trade happened their best shot at a title was like next year. Their pieces right now aren’t good enough around embiid and harden. I expect next year the pieces around them are much different cause i think morey wanted to get the deal done so this offseason he could move onto that phase of the team as he wasn’t able to get a deal done until the last hour of the deadline.

Really the sixers have 4 starters in harden, embiid, Harris and maxey. Thybulle, niang and green aren’t starters or aren’t starters anymore. Niang and green are fine bench pieces as your 7th and 8th guys. Thybulle is fine as a bench piece but frankly I’d use him as part of a Harris deal. However they have a hole at the wing in their starting lineup. They need a guy who can defend and shoot from that position. They don’t have it. Shake, kork, Jordan, millsap are inconsistent and frankly i don’t think are championship caliber bench pieces.

The switch is more about getting Thybulle out of the lineup. The only way to do that, outside of Green, is to shift Tobi to the 3 and play Niang at 4. Harris isn’t super athletic but Niang definitely can’t guard the wing.

i think they closed out yesterday's game with both harris & niang on the court....only using thybulle on a few defensive possessions.  it definitely helps with spacing on offense. but yeah...both harris & niang would struggle guarding wings full time.

yep...i think they kept a couple fake creators on the roster...shake & kork...because it was such a need coming into the season. but now that they have harden & maxey has improved so much, those guys are expendable. replace them with spot up shooters & the scoring depth is automatically better.

I agree neither is ideal for guarding the wing, but of the two Harris is obviously the better option. Right now it needs to be about getting the best five players on the court, and that is clearly Harden, Maxey, Harris, Niang, and Embiid.

Thybulle’s defense is great, though he still fouls too much, but you can’t have a total offensive black hole on the court. Thybulle’s minutes really need to be reserved for when they have a late lead they’re trying to hold on to.

I think the hawks are a team that will be active this summer on moving guys. They are underachieving this year and they have some contracts I’m guessing they’d like to move. I look at some other teams like that who might be willing to move guys after a underachieving season.

Who guards KD or Tatum in these match ups. KD absolutely cooked Harris the other day and made him look invisible.

the fact that we're trying to figure out ways to get both pf's on the court at the same time for better shooting/spacing tells you exactly how turrible the backup guards are.

[Lauren Rosen] Tobias Harris on acclimating to the new-look sixers, driven by his ability to adapt: "It’s being ready, catch-and-shoot wise. To be honest, this is the first time in my career that that has been my role and niche. Everybody is making a huge deal of three games...

Nobody guards KD successfully so not sure it matters. Just have to outscore them.

That's good.

I think with Harden and Embiid they can rest 1 next game,  rest the other one the following game.  Then both should be ready for Miami.

And both can go tonight.

Be curious to see if Doc goes back to Green in the starting lineup tonight. He has to see that the Thybulle experiment just isn’t working.

Said this last year, I’d probably go with green cause he gives a threat to hit shots and 3s. However if he’s not then you just make the switch with thybulle cause at least he gives you defense if both aren’t hitting crap. I like thybulle but he has the same issues coming out of college. Not surprising cause he played there for four years so you are closer to your ceiling as a senior coming out then as a freshman.

part of me wonders if Harris and thybulle are going to be packaged this offseason and they believe that springer can be a defensive stopper on the perimeter as he develops. I know morey talked about it on 97.5 a couple weeks back about him being a really good nba level defender in time and nba competent defender now

Springer is a bust at this point and can't rely on him for anything in my opinion.

Another year of going for potential over a guy that already knows how to play.

We think that. Not sure the sixers think that. Hard to know what is cause doc would refuse to play him even if he was better than korkmaz.

He is shooting 20% from 3 in the G league  so he won't see any playing time

springer was an awful pick for a win-now team.

Even if he wasn’t shooting 20% he wouldn’t. Paul reed tore up the G league and barely plays under doc. Doc is in favor of two washed up players in millsap and Jordan. I’m just telling you what morey went into a 3-4 minute discussion on him.
