His ridiculous dedication to playing veterans is infuriating, and I feel terrible for ever having complained about Brett Brown's rotations.

Rivers won a ring with 3 vets in Boston and has decided that is the only way. Thank God Ben Simmons is a mental weakling who refused to play, or no way Glen plays Maxey and let's him develop like this.

I'd be on board with elevating Sam.

Some of us were interested in Cassell as the hire initially. Unfortunately I dont think the team ever considered him. Im afraid even after Rivers is fired we may elevate someone like Joerger or go external, and lose Cassell. He has been following Doc as an assistant for years now.

I'd be OK with new blood from the outside as well. But Ty Lue did take the Clippers job from Rivers' staff, so it's been done.

Just like Harden is Morey's guy as a player, D'Antoni is Morey's coach. 95% chance when Doc is gone, D'Antoni is the next coach.

there was this article from Februray https://heavy.com/sports/philadelphia-76ers/mike-dantoni-daryl-morey-doc-rivers/

and the below tweet by Marc Stein

Quote

Rivers might have a more significant problem to manage than merely tuning out the naysayers questioning his presence on the Top 15 list. The conspiracy theory already making the rounds in league coaching circles holds that Sixers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey will eventually want Mike D’Antoni to take over in the hot seat for Philadelphia’s new Joel Embiid/James Harden tag team after D’Antoni’s offensive creativity helped catapult Harden to three scoring titles in Houston.

Neubeck refuted the rumor.

But we know things can change as the losses to good teams pile up. Especially with another early playoff exit. And, we know how Morey is obsessed with certain other guys and he eventually gets them.

Youd have to click on that to see the whole thing. The punchline is whats written int he graphic at the bottom of the screen. Giannis 4 of 11 field goals when guarded by Paul Reed.

Millsap and Jordan are completely washed.  It was obvious before they were here.  Is Morey pandering to Doc's vet wants to give him enough rope to hang himself?  I hope so.  Once Drummond was traded Reed and Bassey should've been playing.  Millsap should have been released and nobody in their right mind was going to sign Jordan.

This is my read on it.  I think it’s win win for Morey. If the team makes a legit run, great. If not, he’ll use it as leverage to try and get Doc out.

Morey’s obsession with Harden is going to cost Embiid the MVP and a possible nice run in the playoffs.  Because he was hell bent on holding out for Harden, the bench is what it is. Oh and Glen is an unlikable doooosh*er.

I was actually happy to get Millsap as a vet in the locker room, but I never thought he'd see meaningful minutes. As for Jordan...when you're too old for the Lakers, well...

You mean you didn’t see Milsap manning up the Greak Freak down the stretch in a meaningful late season game?

i thought milsap would be immediately released/bought out   little did i know...glenn had plans!

Right....to never play Reed or Bassey....you'd think those two tag teamed his wife or something!

If D'Antoni is the next coach they can continue to kiss a championship good bye. He effing blows. Sure his style is fun and flashy but, that style gets shredded in the playoffs. Absolutely zero defense with that doooosh

He didn't play Maxey enough regular season minutes in the middle of the season last year until his hand was forced.

Yesterday Windhorst was leary about a max contract for Harden.

Today, reportedly its people within the organization having reservations.

Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix said there’s some trepidation within the 76ers.

"There are definitely people in Philadelphia wary of giving James Harden what would be tantamount to a five-year, quarter of a billion-dollar deal," Mannix explained this week on "The Bill Simmons Podcast." "Even now, with the short sample size of watching him, that’s a concern. That’s a legitimate concern amongst some people in Philly. It’s going to be a bad contract at some point, the concern is does it become a bad contract sooner rather than later, and I’d be a little worried about that. If you don’t get a great playoff run this year out of him, are you going to get one next year? When does he start to really decline?

"They’re going to give him that contract, I don’t think there’s any doubt about that, but that’s a worry for some people down there.”

Why don’t we wait and see what happens this season before deciding to give Harden $250 million

jealous of the warriors who have Poole, kuminga, porter, iggy and bjelica to come off the bench in the playoffs. Poole for the month of March is averaging 25-4.5-4.  Shooting 50% and 44 from 3.

hope the warriors and suns are fully healthy cause if they face each other in the WCF it would be fun to watch. Grizzlies would be too.

Yeah, Miami's depth beat Boston last night too.  When I see these deep teams I keep going back to that what if Kings trade.  If we trade Ben and a pick for Haliburton and Buddy then our depth is as good as anybody's.  We were already fighting for the 1 seed beforehand but with that trade I assume you have a lineup of something like: Hali, Curry, Green, Tobi, Embiid with a bench of Maxey, Buddy, Tisse, Niang, Drummond.

With that bench, Glenn could actually get away with his hockey line substitutions.  That's a lot of bodies capable of shooting around 40% from three to surround Joel, plus the occasional hot night from Isiah Joe or Kork.  We would have the #1 seed.  However, Hali has no playoff chops and the narrative would be that we still don't have that closer for close playoff games.

Celtics trying to figure out rotation without Robert Williams and they have shortened their rotation in the last few months as well.

You really only need 3 to maybe 4 guys off the bench in the playoffs, but Sixers bench has maybe one guy in Green that you can trust.

I trust Niang for the most part. I was actually thinking with how bad Jordan and Millsap are it might be worth it to try rotating Harris to the 5 when Niang comes in. Harris can't be worse than Millsap was the other night.

The Ringer's Wosny Lambre dropped a little inside knowledge on the most recent Ringer NBA Show podcast this week, where he warned of juuuuust a little unrest in Sixers land with respect to Rivers.

(Lambre also warned "aggregators" to "relax" before he dropped this intel. I will, of course, never relax.)

Here's what Lambre had to say:

"A few weeks ago - because I'm decently tapped-in with the players side of what's happening with the Sixers, though I don't know anybody in the Morey administration - I'm hearing like, 'Man, guys are not feeling Doc. His rotations, his philosophy, what he's doing. Guys aren't feeling it.' To me sometimes you can chalk it up to be like, 'I should be playing more.' That's every NBA player. So I'm like, I'm ignoring this. I'm ignoring this.

"The Sixers are in L.A. last week, I'm out and about getting dinner [...] and I run into somebody who's close to the team. [...] I'm like, 'Sorry but I can't pick you guys to go to the Finals this year.' His response kind of raised my eyebrows: 'Neither would I.' Oh, okay. Maybe that's hyperbole, maybe you're having a bad week, I'm not even thinking about it. But this is a running tally of what's going on down in Philadelphia."

You didn’t even mention the best bench player they have, which is Niang. I think he and green are solid enough coming off the bench. Shake is the wild card because they really need a bench guard to step up and he’s the only one I see really being capable of doing that.

I’d feel a lot more confident in the bench if Doc would show any willingness down the stretch to put in Reed or Bassey.

one step closer to Doc out the door.

But, D'Antoni is coming next. Embiid wanted him. Morey wants him. Harden played well with him....

Let's start with Doc out the door then go from there.  Nothing will happing this season though and, given how long they stuck with Ben, I'd be surprised if it happens before the end of next season too.
