This is why you take the legit #1 in Higgins at 21 and then trade up for your speed guy in early round 2. Reagor or Hamler. Whichever you can snag.

And if Higgins is gone?

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

What would shock you guys the most? For me it would be a LB in round 1. It just isn't going to happen.

Still think that's more likely than picking a WR in both the first and second.

Shock or piss me off?

I saw that Miles Sanders is announcing the 2nd round pick

I'm not so sure they're set at DE, but I don't know what else their options are. I'm not flipping picks for Ngakoue and receiver is too much of a need right now. DE this season reminds me of CB going into last season. Everyone was optimistic because they just had a bunch of guys at CB that looked good as a whole and strength in numbers, but if you looked at them individually there were concerns. Graham is 32, Barnett has largely been a disappointment as a first rounder, Sweat showed flashes last year but is still a question, who knows about Miller, and who knows what role Avery will play. They need one of these guys to pop the same way they needed someone like Rasul, Mills, Darby, Sidney, or Maddox to assert themselves last season which didn't happen.

Let me put it this way.  Not a great DE draft. So the DE would need to be an upgrade over what we have now.  That is why some DEs in free agency haven’t signed. Their market will rise on who misses out. Probably true for the CBs that haven’t signed for the same reason. Given how deep the DL draft was last year, Miller was available in the late fourth. If he was drafted this year he would probably go close to a round higher.

That would shock me.  I don't think Rivera will want to hitch his wagon to Tua, with the risk associated with that, when there is a prospect like Chase Young available.  Chase Young is a rare (at least once in 5, maybe once in 10 year) prospect at a premium position, that can be the cornerstone of a defense.  We know defense is Rivera's expertise -- he wants teams to be strong defensively and be able to run the ball.  He has an existing strong pass rusher in Kerrigan and several good interior defensive players.  Young can be a cornerstone player to build on that looks like he may require double teams all the time like he did in college (where he still compiled 16 sacks in a shorter season).

If he rolls with Haskins, he gets a pass for this year, and gains credibility and trust with the owner who by all accounts drafted Haskins.  He already traded for his former QB as an insurance policy for this year.  Since you don't have a Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck type prospect there at QB, or even a RGIII for that matter, why take that kind of risk?  Take the cornerstone, game changing edge defender.  If Tua had never been hurt, there would be a conversation, but personally I don't think there is any questions about what the Redskins will do.  They are not trading the pick or taking a QB, they are taking Young... if Haskins bombs, and Kyle Allen isn't good enough, they enter the market next year for a QB.

I've been saying this a lot since the old boards so I will keep it short.  The Redskins could have a scary good defense once they add Chase Young.  Rivera and Del Rio are going to make that defense a force.

Trading up to the teens to draft a reach WR with one of the big 4 still on the board.

I think its more likely because of the way most teams will view the two, that Reagor goes around 21 and Higgins would be the trade up towards the top of the second.

Denzel Mims is Josh Norris’ #12 player in the entire draft class.

It’s starting to feel like if the Eagles want to get even one of the top 5 receivers, they’ll have to trade up to get one. Then again that’s how teams that are in front of us get good value in trading down, by putting out misinformation. Kinda like all the chatter about Washington taking a QB with their pick when we all know damn well that isn’t happening.

If 5 WR go before pick 21 that means the likely hood of a top prospect at another position will be sitting in their laps to either take or have another team want to trade up for.  I don't see 5 teams in front of the Eagles needing WR (of course a team could trade up).

At 21?  I just don’t see WRs making up a quarter of the first half of the draft. Would really suggest this draft is devoid of talent.  I think it is mediocre but not that bad.

I there there will be a run on WR in the 9-15 range, then another run in the 21-30 range.  I think we will see these guys go before #32:

Jeudy, Lamb, Ruggs, Jefferson, Reagor, Mims, Shenault, Higgins

Prediction: Justin Jefferson goes in the top 15.

The wasteam is actually loaded on the front seven. They should really consider trading down and grabbing a LT.  Is Young that great?  How many NFL starter level LTs did he dominate?  Don’t get me wrong, I think he is the cream of the crop in this draft but I also don’t see him as a once in a lifetime DE.

I really like him, but 21 feels early. Based on fit, I’d rank him probably fifth in the WR class. If I felt better about Jefferson as an outside WR, he’d be fourth with Reagor fifth.

Who knows how the draft board ends up going but if many of the mock drafts out there are indication, a lot of the WRs being discussed (i.e. like Aiyuk) may not last past too late in the 1st round.  So if they do trade back, hope it isn't TOO far.

Runs on WR don't traditionally happen.  Especially when there is so much depth in later rounds.

And they are not diva level WRs.  They are average WRs.  Curious about moves for Herbert or Love and how that might impact things.

I will be shocked if Reagor or Mims go first round.

The Eagles appear to pick after the sweet spots for the WRs in both the first and second rounds. They’re probably going to have to reach or trade up. It’ll take some deft skills to move down and get your guy considering the end of round 1 is full of WR needy teams that could reach a bit too.

If the top 3 WR’s are gone by 21, trading back seems to work out so nicely in these mock drafts.  If only mocks would really mimic reality, we would be all set 😂

I hope the Raiders take Johnson at 19.

Just tried listening to a Jeudy interview. It was not enjoyable.

Adam Shaheen makes nothing fun.

Bob Quinn (Lions VP/GM) on ESPN now giving a tour of his home draft office. Pretty weird seeing a phone with literally every team listed as a speed dial option.

Edit: and he has an IT guy in a Winnebago on his driveway. Amazing.

Thought I had posted here, but it was the Welcome thread.

As good as this looks it's hard to think I got lost. 😅
