Probably trying their hardest to make it seem they aren't taking a WR when everyone knows they're taking a WR:lol:

And then, they outsmart them selves and take a DE .....

1.  Howie never shows his hand ahead of time.

2.  We don't draft LB's in the first round.

Just extending your thinking...

3. When drafting a WR early, the Eagles have more busts than hits...

Have you donated $2?

Actually more to a similar cause but I’m not famous so no one is trying to kiss my a**.

That’s like me donating $2. BFD.

Hey, don't -ish on him.  It is better than nothing which he could have done.

If they can't hit on 1 receiver with their first two picks this year, Howie should be fired.

Happy to hear it. A million dollars will help a lot. He didn’t have to do it, so to act like it’s no big deal is silly.

I think something on the order of $1m is the going rate for checking the good PR box on this front.

Brees donated $5m and he doesn't have that kind of money.

I’m not shidding on him, just don’t think it’s worth any sort of story. But it’s not generosity if everyone can’t see it....

And it’s also a really, really nice thing to do.

People are so jaded and weird.

This is totally off topic but what is more likely?  When the NBA resumes, Embiid being in shape or Simmons coming back with a jump shot?

Simmons coming back with a jump shot.  I was a Rockets fan in the ‘80s so Imhave a dislike for the Celtics but always admired that every year Larry Bird would go home to French Lick, IN (always thought that town sounded like a porn flick) and came back with some new tool in his arsenal.  Nothing else for Simmons to do but shoot hoops.

"Really, really nice" is overdramatic.

I’ll entertain the notion that we are actually looking at a first round LB. Cosell is great at this stuff. Good read.

I expect Joel to be at least 20 pounds overweight.

So what are the rules here?  Masking profanity?

Lol. "Really, really nice” is over dramatic? That money will probably end up saving lives. I’d say "really, really nice” is a complete understatement.

The S people will argue about in here (or there or wherever) is wild to me.

It was very nice and people will benefit.

Do you think it is a coincidence that there are 20 websites carrying this news when we are 2 days from the draft and there are more tangible football stories to break?  Or do you think the Eagles PR staff is ensuring they get their money's worth from this donation?

It's fine.  He gave it, he has the right to shout it from the mountaintops.  But that is what they are doing...

Wasn’t trying to argue. Just stating how I feel about the situation because I can. There’s plenty of people doing far greater things.

There is a draft value chart that everyone leans on.  I am surprised no one has ever tried to establish an exchange rate between cap space and draft currency.  Say $10m in cap space is worth 100 points on the draft value chart (late 3rd round pick).

In 2017, Brock Osweiler, a 2018 2nd, and a 2017 6th were traded for a 2017 4th.  They saved $10m cap space.  There are a lot of moving parts there, but let's try to digest it.  The 2018 pick...let's value it at the very end of the 2nd round since it is a year later, 270 points.  The 6th was 15 points.  They received 35 points with the 4th.  So they gave up 250 points.  That puts $10m cap space (in 2017) at 250 points, or about an early 3rd round pick.  Combine that with cap inflation, and I'd say that off the cuff late 3rd round value for $10m cap sounds about right.

IIRC, there was another cap dominated trade made in the last couple years where a team gave up value to unload a player, but I cannot recall the player and teams involved.  I also don't know exactly how much money we'd save by unloading Alshon.  I think it's a hit for 2020 and a savings for 2021.

The variable here is that Osweiler can't play... even a little bit.  Alshon, even last year, showed he can still play a little, even if he's hobbled.

It’s not mutually exclusive. But we don’t have to boil down a $1M donation to a PR stunt and a BFD.

Except to those who are receiving it... its like $1M.  It's a big deal to those getting the money.

That will likely be the 'value' pick at that spot.  They have to evaluate it.

I like Queen more than Murray.

This 'news' came out weeks ago.  It's just being regurgitated now.

That's right...if you come from a middle class experience with some education it is easy to lose perspective a call it a bfd...it is a totally different experience and perspective to those that are scraping by everyday...a little goes a long way
