If you really look at it, he didnt say anything bad.  Just that he doesnt think kneeling during the anthem is respectful towards the military.  I dont agree but that's his opinion.

Bad and stupid are two totally different things. What he said was extremely stupid.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Yeah but you can see his teammates don’t view at the same way as you do. And that really is what matters is those players in the locker room.

Drew Brees is screwed. This isn’t something people will easily forget unless he swings hard in the other direction.

More like their fans are screwed. Without Drew Brees they're going back to the days of the 'Aints...

It was about that time desean realized he needed to get out of Tampa

All I can say is wow. This is powerful. This took balls. So much respect for Malcolm.

Kaepernick is out of the league because he sucks as QB and has only really shown he can play in some evolution of the pistol offense.  He thinks he is better at it than he is and apparently does not take coaching well.  He was benched before he optioned out of SF.  He could have accepted a back up role like Winston, Mariota, Dalton, Foley’s etc. but refused to consider such.

All true, but none of that is the reason.  The reason is teams fear the next lawsuit and it's nearly guaranteed.  You can't sue your employer, walk across the street and expect to be hired by another office of that employer.  Just not realistic.  he's better than journeymen backups that maintain a spot in the league, but they are not threats.

I disagree, i didnt find it offensive at all and the single act generated dialogue and was effective in the sense that other players like Malcolm jenkins and other players could continue that dialogue in different ways.

If it was so in effective no one would be talking about it, they wouldnt of had whole teams going out and kneeling together. If it was so in effective the president wouldnt have said anything against it.

Him kneeling was a big deal to a lot of people on both sides and all those in the middle.

My dad hates sports and football and thinks its a waste of time, and even he brought it up to me and asked me what i thought.

It got even the most casual observer involved in the conversation.

About kneeling.  Not about equality.

Like 4for4 says - granite.

Malcolm Jenkins is a hero.

I hear ya.  Health conscious folks don't seem to worry all that much about flavor though... Kale chips, rice cakes, etc.... none of that qualifies as 'tasty'.   Tasty food can be healthy, but generally speaking when food is resented as 'health food', flavor takes a major back seat.

I eat what tastes good.  Some of it is healthy, some of it is not.  And worrying about the health ramifications of the very very tasty, non-healthy food takes all the joy out of eating it.

Well that's good and all but eventually you will have to figure out a different life style or leave the ones you love on this earth behind or become a huge burden to them. I believe in what you wrote in the post above though, everything in moderation, it's just that we as Americans don't really understand what moderation is.

In the same vain, this applies to Brees as well?  And if so, why not include him in this statement?

Because its pretty clear no one cares what he thinks either. Brees isnt the one crying about how he feels. Perhaps jenkins needs to do some listening...

maybe then he would comprehend the lack of support

Pretty good response.

But something to remember is also when the method of delivering the message drowns out the message, the point is lost in the clamor. I have said many times I have no issue with anyone expressing a nonviolent protest.   The problem with the kneeling is so many saw disrespect and it failed to deliver a meaningful dialogue.  I would suggest that Malcolm Jenkins, Chris Long and even Jeff Lurie and Carson Wentz have furthered dialogue more than Kaepernick did.

There is absolutely no way Long, Lurie and Wentz have furthered the dialogue more than Kaepernick. I doubt Jenkins has either.

Just curious.   Was Jenkins the first Saint to call him out?   I'm sure he was the first on video.

I give Jenkins credit for saying what many thought.  However, there was no public response that could have kept Brees' comment from becoming an inferno for that team and City.

He appears to have a lot of respect and influence among people of color. He’s spoken to Congress, done ride-alongs with police, met with the Philly police commissioner and was voted the Byron Whizzer White Award by the NFLPA. The support he received yesterday for his words against Brees shows how much people care about his message.

I appreciate your sentiment, but I believe my days are what they are, and worrying about them won't change that.  So, I choose not to worry about them.  I could say more, but I believe you understand my meaning.

yes... FAR too many people do not allow for a reasonable middle ground. They see you as either 100% with them, or call you a racist. There is no room for any other opinion but the one they protest, and riot for. No matter how closely your views align with theirs, if youre just 99% with them, youre an enemy under attack. And that is completely unreasonable.

The Saints all need to watch Dr Z talk about the moral foundation theory. And then the rest of the country should too.

When you cant say that you 100% support their message but disagree with the riots,  you will be attacked. That cant be. The world cant change when people are like that. When you say you agree with Kaep that we need work on equality but feel that his method of prostesting was disrespectful, you will be attacked and called racist. That cant be.  Change cant happen that way.

Yup. that video you shared is this situation to a T.  It's what's so wrong with society.  Middle ground be gone, you are right or you are wrong.  It's something we need to fix and fix fast.

Malcolm understands BigE's point about the method ruining the message, I will give him that. but all that support he already had. The real question here is whether enough people care for their to be a change at a societal level. sadly, i doubt that.

Won’t lie, I use minced in the jar on occasion but it is larger than minced.  Next time you are cooking something in the oven or grill that will take about an hour over lower heat, peel a head of garlic, grab some aluminum foil and a tablespoon of Olive Oil, I use light instead of EVOO for this, and stick in the oven or grill.  If grilling with wood smoke, vent the foil after about forty five minutes to get the smokiness wth the garlic.   Freezes well.  Pop in the microwave if you are using frozen for enough minutes to make soft and then mash with the back of a spoon.  (Or the mortal and pestle, I suppose.  JR keeps telling me to buy one.   My wife bought me a micro plane garlic mincer because I don’t like garlic presses.  It works well.  There is a mincer with a handle that I have considered.  I think I could:use with my bamboo herb slicer

Try one of these

you put the cloves in, drive it around and they get chopped pretty well. Cleaning it isn’t so much fun...

I watched the house of pain game about 2 weeks ago.

Its a brutal game to watch.especially with all the injury stoppages

Zero offense the whole game a bunch of scrubs playing its like watching the replacements. Just an ugly game.

The most entertaining part was JBs quote and thats about it.

The only thing I took away from watching it again is that Seth Joyner was such a great linebacker.  He deserves to be in the PFHOF.

No one wants to do this. People knelt because police brutality was a problem that wasn't, and isn't, being addressed.

Instead of complaining about kneeling for an object, people could have asked local governments for police accountability. But they didn't and would rather argue about protests. So protests continue, more people get hurt and nothing changes.

Statistically there is no evidence of widespread national police bias towards black people.  This isnt an issue that is a national plague, that is a false narrative that doesnt hold up.

What theyre saying when they kneel during the anthem is that the there is some widespread problem inherent throughout the nation.

Btw Jim Brown has said the exact same thing as Drew Brees.  I bet he doesnt understand these issues either

yup.

People can very rationally feel it was disrespectful and many did. Kaep just wanted to attention to be on him, for the one moment we pause to put it on the country that provides such opportunity. He failed as a qb and needed to be the victim somehow, so he took the low hanging fruit.

I do, but I also believe that choices we make in life are figured into that as well.

Initially about kneeling which led to discussion about why.
