I prefer to run it on 1st and 10 or 2nd and 6 or less. I always hated passing on first down with an incomplete pass and then running on 2 and 10

Running on 2nd and 6 is "fine" as long as your running game is ok.

The best down to throw is 1st down from an EPA perspective. The difference between 2nd and 10 and 2nd and 7 is not that big in today's NFL.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

A PR agency absolutely wrote or edited that.

Understandably so. It was a delicate situation and one that had to be carefully worded. The last thing he needed was to fumble the apology.

Everyone in here knows scumbags come in all colors and races, right?

Right......white people say racist things and commit violence and even death towards black people for the sole reason because they're black.  But blacks also do the same to whites.  Sometimes though it seems only one way gets reported and exposed.

Dont think Jenkins is the issue here.

He was a leader in that community before he left as well as he was in philly and hasnt said anything that would suggest hes lost the support or offended that community.

Hes not sending out apology letters, if anything, brees stock in the eyes of his teammates and community have taken a hit.

Rasul publishing some baseless and controversial concept doesn't help either.  He has zero idea who wrote it, but he published it anyway.

Honestly I think that is Rasul trying to defend Brees maybe a bit

MLK didnt agree with rioting and violence but he understood its origins and could empathize and said," rioting is the voice of the unheard"

Police exist to protect corporate interests and serve and protect capitalism. Looting is a form of protest against capitalism a system that historically unequally represents minorities, and can be seen as a redistribution of capitol to the working poor class. At least in theory.

The violence towards other humans is not just anger but has historically been perpetrated by those in power to dissuade peaceful protest.

If one is more upset about a burnt building or stolen toaster than one is about a cop openly murdering a black man than one is part of the problem.

One can say looting and rioting isnt protesting and murder isnt policing either.

If one wants to end a riot without ending its root cause ones agenda isnt about peace and justice, its about silence and control.

Well said. My concern is how to address the root cause. What policy changes can be immediately effective to assuage those who are angry?

Maybe but I would gamble that most blacks would say that it doesn't get exposed as often as it should. Again I'm not black and have never had to stand in their shoes.

I just...

Have you ever taken a history class? If you don’t know racism towards POC is littered all throughout American history then I don’t know what to tell you. This is a GENERATIONAL issue, and it’s goes well beyond your "both sides” argument. White people have never had to deal with systemic racism. You haven’t been enslaved, you haven’t been barred from learning how to read or owning land or voting, etc etc etc.

Brees is done he will be made an example of now everyone who doesn’t kneel will be a racist

This is going to sound controversial but it's true.  Here's what we are going to see.

First, you have all these virtue signaling social media folks out there who are going to be going above and beyond to show their "support" for the black community.  It's going to be a social media trend to show that you care.  They think they bring about change by changing their profile picture or adding a frame that says BLM. Being pro black is a trend much like being pro gay or pro trans is.  They want to fit in so you how support without even knowing why.  What truly caring humans do is support and love their brothers and sisters without putting it on blast for all to see.  It's instinctive and you do it because you actually care, not because you want your followers to see.  You see this with "random acts of kindness".  People feel the need to praise themselves for doing a good deed.  Look at me look at the nice thing i did.  It''s going to be the same thing with race.  Look at me, I love black people, I'm a good person.  You didn'y shout it from the rooftop so you're a racist.

Second, you're going to see it become popular to talk down and be racist towards whites not only acceptable but encouraged.  I'm not talking about racism on the same level as what happened to George Floyd but you'll see it from celebrities first, then late night talk show hosts.  Who's gonna be first, Jimmy Kimmel or Trevor Noah telling white folks how crappy we are?  It's going to be the trend.  It's how today's society works.

I think South Park addressed the kneeling issue better than anyone lol...

I'm not black either and I want everyone to be treated equal.  Going back to your point about scumbags exist in all races....alot of times the media plays it out like it's all the white man's fault.  Not making excuses for being racist but some whites are today because they were targeted growing up by black people who didnt like them simply because they're white.  I've seen it myself through out middle school and high school.  Being called white derogatory names even had some try physical violence for no reason.  Never did anything to them.

Now I'm not stupid enough to feel that just because some black people acted this way, that it means all black people are this way.  Couldnt be further from the truth.  Majority of black people are good, honest people.  Like you said, all races have bad apples.

South Park addresses most issues better than anyone, and i'm not even joking. They had an episode around race YEARS ago that drives home what some people still aren't understanding today.

Kaepernick never had to apologize. Brees had to apologize thre very next day, and will never be forgiven.   God forbid we offended a black person. So much for equality.

Again, why do think this is? Could it be after so many years of slavery and oppression that some black people aren’t trusting of white people?

You treat people like crap for generations and then you wonder why they grow to distrust you after you were FORCED to stop.

Just exactly  how am I on one side or the other?

If the cop did what it appears he did he's going away for a long time. As it should be.

People have a right to protest, as it should be.

They don't have a right however to destroy other peoples property, businesses or as happened in St Louis and Oakland kill people, black people. If you feel rioting and looting are acceptable we will NEVER agree

The people rioting and looting are opportunists taking advantage of the protest focus - they're not part of the protest. What angers me after the damage done to life and property by the rioting and looting is that the story becomes about the rioting and looting instead of about the purpose behind the protest. So please do not make the mistake of conflating the rioters and looters together with the protesters.

As for the cop - it's not a fore gone conclusion that he will go away for any time. That is one reason for the protests - too often the Bad Apple police have done similar only to disappear into the sunset.

I know racism exists and it's not fair.  Everyone should be treated equal.

I'm simply talking about people in general and how they act towards each other.  Whites hate blacks for no reason.  Blacks hate whites for no reason.  It's stupid but it's the way some people are.

LOL what would you suggest as his next plan of action?  Bury it until the season starts, then the team completely revolts against him?

He apologized and most won't care. It’s clear as day. Rasul’s response confirms that. I don’t agree with Brees but at this point apologizing is pretty pointless. People have their minds made up.

Apologizing when you are wrong is never pointless. It may or may not make much difference but no apology only makes it worse.

That's fine because white people are crappy.  So is every other race.  We all have bad representation of our groups.

All we can do as individuals is be nice and compassionate to one another regardless of race, sex, religion, etc.

Beginning of the end of the nfl it’s all political now

i think ratings were down 20% during the kneeling stuff now double that it’s all political
