Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

I'd like to see him make the roster outright and another "IR" year would not make me happy. I don't think he has to have a role.  In fact, if he was activated for more games than not, I would think that was a giant leap.  He is going to take time.  He's not a failure if he's not swing tackle.

If he's on the active roster it means they trust him if someone gets hurt so yes I agree that would be HUGE.

Jones needs to learn how to tackle.  If you look at the Green Bay game where he got pulled in the first half, it was due to his inability to tackle.  He needs to improve or he's not going to be on the team after this season.

I have said that about Jones all along.  He is ten pounds too light and that too light is upper body strength. He was the best cover corner on the team last year and couldn’t make the field due to strength and the ability to tackle. Sounds like he was aiming tomwork on his profession this offseason.  He was working with Ronnie Braxton, a former UH LB.  He should be good for Jones.  His methods are a trade secret but it seems he uses some boxing in his training.

It's a big year for JJaw and Jones but not for Barnett and Mailata.

I would like to Mailata have a role and make the roster but he is 23.  He is a year younger than Dillard.  He has shown promise in pre-season games.  He's not old.  He's not in a put up or shut up year.  Jason Peters wasn't a full-time starter at his age. Alejandro Villanueva was 27 before he started a game. Evan Mathis didn't become a above average player until he was nearly 30.  There are plenty of O-linemen who take time to develop.  Mailata has physical attributes and has shown enough to warrant continued investment.

If you don't think Barnett has shown he's at least an average NFL player, then I'm not sure what you expect.  I would like Barnett to break out as a star but he's not going to be off the team if he doesn't put up double digit sack numbers next season.  He needs to cut down on his mistakes and stay healthy.  If he does those 2 things, he will improve.

I think everyone knows he's average and that's the issue. I expect more than average from a top 15 pick. Barnett would have been a great value pick for this team had he been a 3rd or 4th rounder. That isn't the case.

What would people consider a good season from Reagor this year? It feels like he's going to have more expectations and pressure on him than any first rounder this team has taken in the past ten years or so because of how useless the receivers were last year.

Just read an article i think by rueben frank listing the 10 worst performance by a qb in eagles history.

1991 they had back to back games with qbs with under 20 qb rating.

Pay ryan sept 30 in for mcmahon and rookie brad goebel on oct 6th.

That team would go on to miss the playoffs winning 10 games.

One of best defenses ever assembled and they had to over come the offense every game, sad stuff😞

Anything over 500 yards is acceptable to me anything under i might be disappointed.

Our quarterback.

Meh. RBs kinda don’t matter to me all that much.

I think it depends on what Lamb and Jefferson do. I'd consider ~750 yards and 5-7 TDs a good season for him, but if Lamb and Jefferson put together 1,000+ and 8-10 TDs he'll get trashed.

This is obviously a put up or shut up year for several Eagles.

Barnett and Sidney Jones being the top 2. JJAW needs to make a big leap to at least be productive. Mailata has gotten a bit of a pass because of where he was drafted but if he cant be a contributor this year even as a first backup it's time to cut him loose too.

and the fact that he'd never played competitive American football in his life.

Lamb went higher than him in the draft, why would he get trashed?

Where Barnett was picked only matters in that the Eagles picked up his fifth year option. He is better than credited.

Fans may have those expectations for Reagor but I suspect, depending on what he shows in TC and PS that the team may temper those expectations.

You’ve never had to tackle Derrick henry

You know i'm not worried about how many yards or even how many catches.

For me it's does he catch the ball when he has the opportunity and more important is he able to help take the top off of the D (along with Jackson) so the TEs and JJAW can work underneath. If he can catch a few long balls early in the season DCs will have to account for him. That will make everything easier. Even for the RBs

I wouldn't want to tackle Derrick Henry.

This game, https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/199110060tam.htm  , was one of the most frustrating games I have ever watched.  All I remember is Heath Sherman running play after play right into the line of scrimmage for 2 yards at a time.

I think Barnett has played very well at times.  I just think he needs to continue to progress.  Sure he hasn't set the world on fire but I think his upside is similar to Graham's.

If Reagor is under 500, I am unhappy.  If he has over 800 yards, I would be pleasantly surprised.

It’s important to establish the run.

Tra Thomas went on a rant recently about how linemen should wear knee braces. The most common injury is getting rolled up from behind. There's no way to protect yourself from that because you're engaged and you can't see it coming. Stoutland made a good point in one of those videos with Fran Dufy. The clip showed Dillard throwing a man to the ground, Duffy thought it was impressive, but Stoutland said no, he could be throwing the man into his own player's legs.

I can definitely see tackles using knee braces. Guards and centers not so much, especially centers like Kelce, because they run so much.

That's exactly what happened on JP's blow out knee in 2017.  Kelce blew up a guy from the side (who was engaged with the LG at the time, whomever that was), knocked him over, and he landed on the side of JP's knee.  Totally avoidable injury.  If Kelce just steps over and not blows him up, it would help.

Because the Eagles wanted to trade up past Dallas with Atlanta for Lamb, but didn't want to give up a second rounder which they used to draft a backup QB.
