Play action and presnap motion even helped turn Tannehill into a quality player last year.

Makes the Sangarello hiring look better and better, doesn't it?

Hmm.  Feels like we've finally cut the cord.  Floating out in the ether. Anger at the faceless dismissal and marginalization of it's own fans by PE.com. But extreme gratitude for guys l

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

This game, https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/199110060tam.htm  , was one of the most frustrating games I have ever watched.  All I remember is Heath Sherman running play after play right into the line of scrimmage for 2 yards at a time.

I remember them being up 13-0 late in the game, giving up a touchdown, and then with the score 13-7, Jeff Feagles somehow managed to drop a snap in the endzone, leading to a second touchdown.

Unless I got the order wrong.

I have said that about Jones all along.  He is ten pounds too light and that too light is upper body strength. He was the best cover corner on the team last year and couldn’t make the field due to strength and the ability to tackle. Sounds like he was aiming tomwork on his profession this offseason.  He was working with Ronnie Braxton, a former UH LB.  He should be good for Jones.  His methods are a trade secret but it seems he uses some boxing in his training.

I haven't lost my hope for him... yet.   But this is his last chance.   He needs to put it together across the board on the field this year.

It’s important to establish the run.

That game got me thinking that maybe Rich Kotite isn't so great a coach.

Lamb went higher than him in the draft, why would he get trashed?

Didn't you hear?   The Eagles "let" Dallas get him by not making some imaginary trade that everyone who wanted Lamb dreamed up in their own head, but has no basis in reality.    The Eagles allowed the Falcons to make their own pick, rather than forcing them to trade.   It's as plain as the nose on your face.

I think that's right.  Horrible game.

The thing is that he didn't necessarily shy away from contact.  He just lacked the strength to bring anyone down.

Because the Eagles wanted to trade up past Dallas with Atlanta for Lamb, but didn't want to give up a second rounder which they used to draft a backup QB.

Ah... the imaginary trade offer that the Falcons were guaranteed to accept and the Eagles were too stupid to offer.    Yup.

Brad Goebel's existence still bothers me. It was because they had found this undiscovered gem as a free agent that they decided they didn't need to sign Craig Erickson, who a few years after getting re-drafted by the Bucs was traded to the Colts for a first round pick. But hooray, we got Brad Goebel, who in a few years was worthless.

@BigEFly  Thanks so much for commenting on your Instant Pot. I got one and am addicted to it now. Great short ribs in 90 minutes. Chicken curry in 25 minutes. That sauté feature is the bomb, and no spatter. Just getting started.

Derek Barnett has been fine. Look up Brandon Graham’s first 3 seasons.

Graham was horribly misused in his rookie year, then got injured, and think shortly after that was the switch to a 3-4 IIRC? Either way there is a somewhat reasonable excuse for Graham getting a slow start.

Barnett is in a great situation with an established DC and playing with two very good linemates in cox and BG. He's ok, but his situation can't be compared to BG's

Meh. RBs kinda don’t matter to me all that much.

Tannenhill was passing against a lot of heavy boxes, when teams are so focused on stopping the run passing is easier.

I love mine, a 4 pound pot roast only takes an hour as opposed to slow cooking all day in a crockpot. I cannot wait to get back home and use mine again

You’re making a huge assumption that ATL would have taken #53 alone to trade back.  The Falcons had a desperate need for a CB (just as bad for the Eagles need at WR), and Thomas Dimitroff has NEVER traded back from his first round draft position.  Add to that CB was not as deep as WR in the draft.

If Wentz gets injured (non-Eagles fans would argue ‘when’) perhaps you’ll see some value in how the pick was used.

I’m aware he ran the most against 8 man fronts, although that’s not just a byproduct of trying to stop Henry. It’s a byproduct of facing 12 and 21 personnel too. DCs tend to prefer being plus-1 in the box.

That’s not to be totally dismissive of Henry’s role in that, because obviously he’s good, but the OL matters far more.

When I say RBs don’t matter, I don’t mean put Wendell Smallwood in there and he’d do the same thing. But there are a lot of RBs or RB committees that can replicate what Henry provides.

It should also be noted that the quality of a team’s run game or the amount they run the ball appear to have no significant effect on the play action passing game.

I had totally forgotten about Erickson. Such a terrible owner.

JR, here is a quiz. Consider the following photo of a confederate monument on the grounds of the Florida Capitol.  There are two egregious mistakes.

At a quick glance I would say that neither Sharpsburg nor Gettysburg (no h, please) were in Virginia. Should I look deeper?

Good to hear. Waiting on my mortar and pestle.  Then the cure.
