In other words, the role of the Christian is to be in the midst of the turmoil, helping as they can, which is the example we saw from Samaritan's Purse, setting up a field hospital in Central Park in NYC.  Of course, they were booed and jeered to leave by some as soon as the imminent emergency ended, rather than thanking them for what they did, they were ostracized for what they believe.   Of course, the Bible teaches about that as well.     Feel free to look this one up for yourself, if you wish 1 Peter 3:15-17.  

 

I wear a mask when I go out to the store, or church... that's the only places I've been since this happened.   I've visited with my parents and my in-laws twice each during this time.  Outdoors, and distanced for the most part.  Greend, as far as I can tell, is completely on board with wearing a mask.  So, I'm not sure why you are asking what Jesus and the disciples would do?  Greend isn't the issue here, nor are "Christians".   The issue is individuals - Christian, non-Christian, male, female, white, black, green and orange - who are refusing to wear masks due to whatever reasoning they can think of that suits their desire to not wear a mask, who refuse to maintain separations, for whatever reason they can think of.  Its not a religious issue, nor a political one.  It's a common sense issue.   It doesn't hurt me to wear a mask.  Its uncomfortable, its annoying and it reminds me to freshen my breath more than I have been... but its good sense.   That said, I see a ton of people with masks on, who don't know how to wear them.  I saw a woman wearing a mask over her chin scratch her nose (which was uncovered) 3 times while standing at the deli.  I saw two women walking around having a loud argument with some random person that existed only in their memories as they weren't there to hear it, but had their masks over their throats, not their faces... and were likely spewing all sorts of water droplets in the process.  I've seen men with masks that cover only their nose, but not their mouth, because their beard was in the way.   

IP I think you misunderstood my question.  If the pandemic is one of the four horsemen, would not Jesus and the disciples wear masks and minister to the ill.  Sure sounds like your answer is yes, which is what I suggested was the sort of action the four gospels suggest are to be taken so you kind of agreed with me.  I think you guessed my thought that folks not wearing masks and not caring about their neighbor, well maybe they should reconsider based on the teachings of the four gospels.

I don't disagree.  Like I said, it's not about this group or that group... it's about the individual who is making a bad choice.  Each person has to make the right choice.  As has been discussed by most states with a mask requirement order, they aren't really able to enforce it.  One state plans to enforce repercussions on the businesses for their employees not wearing them, but I don't see how any local government could really enforce it on the individual.

Anyhow those are my beliefs based on what I believe the Bible says. You need to make your own decisions on those types of things.  You have read the gospels and probably more, one of the most famous scriptures is John 3:16 but read 17 and 18 as well. Very little wiggle room there.

Anyhow like I said we're all responsible for our own lives. 

Read them. That’s one of the luxuries I have in that I can grab things I like from the Bible, Quran, Tanakh, Teachings of Buddha, Tao Te Ching, or any other spiritual texts and set aside the ones I don’t.  But almost all that I have read suggest behavior towards your fellow man such as I posited. Thanks

Aberdeen!  Frigging Aberdeen.  Been there.  Not a huge town but few are in SD.  Getting taken to Sioux Falls by air isn’t that outrageous if it happened Hospitals in places like Aberdeen, Huron, Mitchell etc aren’t really equipped for much so getting taken to Sioux Falls is not unusual and the usual transport method is air.
