You are an a$$.  Apparently Main Street Republicans are no longer welcome in your vision of our party. Fine, kick us out.  Regardless of the law of the state of PA, you want to make us vote by India standards.  Despite a bipartisan law passed in our Republican controlled state House and Senate, you want us to vote by India standards. My father-in-law, 84 and can’t go to the polls in Texas and stand for hours.  Despite voting laws passed by the Republican controlled House and Senate and signed by a Republican governor, you want to impose India standards on him.  Deprive Trump of his vote then and disenfranchise him.  Neither can my neighbors stand for hours. You want to disenfranchise them because of some third world standard.  Disenfranchise Kaleigh McEnany then. She votes absentee from her parents address in FL.  She looks pretty healthy. I suspect she could stand long hours in the FL sun.

I think he lost his aluminum foil hat again.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Nah, I don’t want to fight the "Progressives” either.  I want a Centrist party. No litmus tests

You still haven't told us where you live, whether it's one of those areas with short lines at the polls (Those people can wait in line, We people shouldn't have to). Example was Wisconsin, where rural areas had relatively short lines while Milwaukee had only a few voting places and long lines to vote. Without volunteers (most of whom are elderly), they couldn't open additional voting places.

And no, making people wait in line isn't Kosher, many people work, have children, etc. We should make election day a holiday, but that would increase voter turnout.

And I'd be careful about using India as an example:

It should be a holiday we actually agree on something. Second, once again...if they don't have enough polling places Democrats run 99.9% of those cities. Open more locations.

How scary is it that some in the medical arena are suggesting that asymptomatic Corona sufferers are showing signs of lung damage. I have been seriously on the herd immunity platform but this has me rethinking my position. Does not bode well for any sports this year.

Hopefully the dexamethasone is going to cut down on the organ damage being caused in the cytokine storm phase.

Guess it's hard to get dexa to the non-symptomatic patient's thoug.

I think we are missing out by taking temps on everyone we screen but not taking spO2 readings. It takes like 10 seconds and if you put that pulse oximeter on first while you ask screening questions and take temp it can all be done just as quickly.

Also I found those infrared contactless thermometers to be extremely inaccurate.

Well we might be getting a glimpse of level 7 jumanji

I worry about frontline people like you. This is a scary virus. Fauci and his 75% effective vaccine is very concerning.

I've been pretty busy for the past week or so, so I haven't been on much and haven't been reading a lot on the board but I've had a few people mention to me about politics/social issues 'invading' topics/forums outside of CVON.

Let's keep all of those discussions in there. That way, everyone that use sports as an escape from all of that, can escape the politics and such and not have to have it invade all aspects.

We want the board to grow, we don't want to chase people away.

Nah, my money’s on the sheer force of HE’s ego kicking that virus’ behind. He’ll be fine. But stay healthy HE, seriously

We take temp and O2 for all staff and essential personnel visitors.   Both multiple times a day for our residents.

While I understand this sentiment,  what sports?  Nascar?  Golf?  What is happening is tied to sports.  Its very possible there will be no big four depending upon the infection rate of players/coaches/staff once teams begin to Some may not like, but this is our collective lives right now.

This is new to me, where did you read that?  And how serious is the damage?

And someone correct me, but I thought lungs had the ability to repair themselves (at least some) which is what they say when people stop smoking, or is that just healing from black lung a little?

A 75% effective vaccine sounds a heck of a lot better than no vaccine at all.  It would limit transmission and fatalities, I would assume (or more exactly... I hope).

Does the board have the ability to thread ban people for a period of time? Anytime someone makes a political post they get banned from posting in the blog for 24hrs, because this is getting unbearably toxic.

Banning people for what has been (more or less) acceptable in the Blog for years won’t help keep people around either.  This is only 1 thread in the entire TATE section.  If folks wander off to other topics in here, it’s usually ok.  Granted, these other topics have dominated the blog over the last several weeks but that’s to be expected, considering there’s not much in the world of sports going on right now.  🤷🏻‍♂️

So I take it no one knows what will happen to contracts if the season is canceled?

Wandering is one thing, dwelling on it for weeks isn't. (I know I'm guilty as well).  We did as someone said a while back ban political, religion, and other topics in the old blog for a while. Maybe we should go back to that if we can't just "wander" once in a while.

Everyone needs to remember you probably won't change anyone's opinion on a football message board and honestly most of us don't care or need to know what each others political views are. (Although some of us actually most of us have been around each other long enough to know where everybody stands.)

Anyhow, and this isn't a threat but I'm gonna take a little vacation if we can't at least tone it down a bit, it's pretty much the same arguments from the same individuals every day.

I can and do get this stuff in cvon when I want it and honestly we started off good in here discussing things reasonably but this place has now become just as bad as over there.

We aren't going to agree with each other, people will vote and new or old leaders will be put into place and that will be that.

That's the issue with everything right now - politics and anywhere else there are opinions.  There is no middle.  Or at least no equity in the middle.  Heck, to an extent,  it even happened in the Blog.  Extreme points and hot takes get reactions.  Stuff down the middle doesn't drive a response.  No grey.  No nuance.  No ability to re-consider and shift.  Everything trades out on the wings and it is about making points, not discussing ideas.

Also if we do have to go OT due to lack of football news, why can't it be something fun and non-toxic? Stuff like:

- Billions is pretty good show, although this season is kinda meh, any other good shows y'all would recommend.

- What movies we are looking forward too watching eventually? Tenet? Black Widow?

- What was the last good vacation spot you went to that you would recommend? Wellington New Zealand is all kinds of awesome btw.

- Anybody catch the PS5 reveal? Can't wait to play Horizon 2 and Spider-Man: Miles Morales.

Point is, we can fill the void of football news without going to divisive topics like politics and religion. And to be honest if we let the blog go full CVON, then F*** attracting new members, you'll drive off the existing ones.

My Zucchini update will be posted later this afternoon.
