In light of what conditions? Isn't that virtual anyway?

good point, im not sure what current conditions would keep gms from telling whoever runs the supplemental draft who and in what round they want that player, and then for that draft official to award teams those players.

On average the supplemental draft is only a handful of players if that.

Maybe the nfl forgot to pay their phone bill???

It's less having the draft itself and probably more with current conditions and potential effects coming up with the CFL/NFL season. Maybe the NFL got a sense there would be College players trying to find loopholes to gain eligibility and forego their Senior season? Or maybe since anyone barely actually gets drafted they decided to just not even bother as they try to figure out everything else with the NFL season 2 months away.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

Rumors are Weeks 1 and 4 are cut. If true, we aren't going to get the annual Jets/Eagles preseason championship game

A tradition unlike any other.

Losing the Colts game is disappointing.

Interesting. Some may feel like if there isn't going to be a college season I might as well go make some money. Could be interesting. Oh well.

Doesn't really make any logistical sense at all. I thought for sure the Dolphins game was going to get scrapped.

I'm also confused how they are going to be able to do anything if PA follows other states and imposes a 14 day quarantine if traveling from Florida. Obviously, it's not easily enforceable, but are they going to just straight up ignore it?

Lmao

I think it's somewhat concerning that the NFL in the last week canceled HOF game, postponed HOF induction, canceled supplemental draft and canceled two preseason games. Plus the statement the NFLPA put out the other day which basically said why no one should complain if the players don't play. Everything is trending in a no football/delayed football way.

Sorry, NOT sorry.

Bummer.

And then there's this

Never heard of her, but she's a checkmark, works for the Athletic, and has a lot of NFL local and national reporters that follow her.

Usually when you sucker punch someone you face the consequences after doing it by a bunch of people who saw it and know that it’s messed up.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a 12 or 14 game season at this point.  I'd actually be somewhat "ok" with it.  Much better than the alternative (cancelling the season, etc)

I was just speaking with my brother who is working with a lab that produces Remdesivir — they’ve set the price at $520 US per vial, and the treatment regimen is for 5 days (6 doses) at a total cost of $2,340.  Yikes.  He also says it’s currently being administered only to those with life-threatening conditions.  He figures ramping up mass production of the drug will take much longer than Bill Gates and others have speculated.

They aren’t doing any work on COVID vaccines where he is, but he told me the various vaccine trials he’s seen wouldn’t give more than 2-3 months protection against most coronaviruses; to be protected a person would need to look at getting at least 2 vaccinations per year.

Just cancel the dolphins season, no one watches them anyway.

Been saying that for months.

I'm back, by the way. I was assured that there would be no political ads. I do not begrudge the board any income, but I want no political ads - for any candidate - until 2022.  We'll be inundated with them anyway, just not here. I want to thank @VaBeach_Eagle for making this so. If you PM me, I will be happy to forward you a check in supprt.

I don't think MLB owners are hurting for money.

Sure.  Baseball games now cost a family of 4 about $200 when you add tickets, parking, food... it's ridiculous.  So, yeah, owners are making too much money too.

So at lunch time today I take a ride on my bike. I usually like to work some cardio in at lunch. Minding my own business when a wasp or hornet flies right in my mouth and stings my tongue in like a millisecond. I was moving along at a decent pace so the only thing I could do was quickly spit whatever it was out. Tongue swelled up and now I'm talking with a lisp (temporarily I hope) Just glad it didn't fly into my throat. I guess that will teach me to be a mouth breather.

You should have been wearing a mask.

I would posit that you can't be ambushed after you sucker punch someone...you did the ambushing, now you get to deal with the fallout.

Lol, true. My mom was in Florida at the time playing BINGO with my grandmother during the first half of that game. She couldn’t follow the score at the time. When she got back to my gram’s place, she quick rushed to turn on the TV to find the score at the half was 35-0. She called me and asked me where I was and I told her I was in my seat. She asked me if I was effing crazy lol.

I've mentioned this before but I think it's worth repeating. I was at that game and stayed until the conclusion. Even with the snow and the disgusting nature of the game. As the game was winding down, I was literally the only person in my section who was still there. The security guard (or usher) came over at one point and asked me why I was staying. I told him I bought the ticket, I'm damn well going to use it. I was actually offended at the question.

I think its mostly about the players that decided to return to school regretting it, and deciding to go into the supplemental draft, but not meeting whatever criteria might exist and the NFL just chose not to have to fight that legal battle.   Personally, if I was a junior who decided to go back to school, I'd declare for the supplemental draft now.  There's very likely not going to be a full season for the NCAA.  So, it would be better for them to accrue a year of NFL service rather than to train for a college season that won't happen and earn zero, when they can train for an NFL season that won't happen, but get paid.

I would be okay with waiting until Thanksgiving, playing a ten game season, and then having some playoff system followed by a Super Bowl in March.  I just want football. And I don't even care about college football. I'm talking NFL football. That's all that really matters to me.

A while ago, I suggested that the NFL stack the AFC-NFC match-ups in Weeks 1-4, then the out of division games Weeks 5-9.  That would have bought them time... and then the playoffs become the top 2 finishers in each division... ranked 1-8.  No bye week.  1 hosts 8, etc.  Re-shuffle by seeding after each week.  That buys them over 2 months that aren't needed to determine the playoff seating, if needed.   That gets them to November before they lose anything necessary and don't have to move the Super Bowl date.
