I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

I get that. Honestly it’s really not horrific in pricing for a family of four to be 150-200. Get 3-4 hours of entertainment, food and if you get there early enough batting practice and even autographs

Also the secondary market for baseball tickets is cheap. Like ive said gone to dbacks games for 5 bucks. San Diego when i lived there 10. Even dodgers games during the week I’ve gone for 10. Whereas secondary market for nba and nfl it’s still ridiculously expensive. It’s way easier to budget baseball then any of the major sports besides maybe hockey.

You keep going back to Dbacks and Padres games... No one cares about those teams.   Here in the NE... that $200 number is likely low.  I got priced out a while ago, and haven't checked recently.  AZ's cost of living is way lower than the NE.  So, there's also that.

I know im not who youre asking and im going to respond anyway.

Fran just did a video on Reagor.

Whats most impressive is reagors route running ability. He recognizes coverages and recognizes what technique the corner is using in that coverage and attacks that technique, by leaning, stride change dropping hips pad level ect and on tape he consistently creates separation.

Of course on tape he looks fast but hes more than just straight line fast he does a good job before catch of changing speeds and accerating in and out and doing the same once he catches the ball to run away or make defenders miss.

Hes only 5'10, 11" but on tape plays bigger, can high point and snatch ball, contorts body mid air ti bring in catches good awareness of where he is on the field and where defenders are including the sideline, plays taller than he is.

Also has some pretty impressive gadget plays and a couple where he lined up in backfield and took some handoffs on simple outside zone runs and just ran away from the defense.

Has some impressive plays as a returner..

His qb play last year was really really bad and there are times where hed create a lot of separation and ball was late or under thrown or over thrown

I think with a real qb throwing to him he can be really good he isnt just a fast guy but seems to understand a lot of nuance in route running, especially for a rookie

He was also the defenses main focus in college so imagine having to not be the only threat in offense on the team will open things up more for him as well.

JUST IN: #USC reverses course and announces that its undergrads will primarily take online classes this fall. This development obviously casts doubt on the fate of the Trojans' 2020 college football season

People starting to realize that none of this is going to be any better in a month and a half.  Especially not in CA.

And there’s no way these guys stay in their bubble. We’re talking about men in their 20s. They really think they won’t go out to bars, go socialize in general, go see their families, try to pick up women. Come on...

Heard WIP's Ricky Ricardo this morning talking about the Universal Village area in which they will be staying.  Said it has all of the places you would need, almost like it's own little eco-system.  Bars, etc.  Also said the American Soccer teams have been there for 2 weeks doing the same thing.

I don't know.  My heart wants to believe things will go fine and the forced isolation works just enough to keep these guys safe and we get a cool little NBA season.

My head expects a disaster.

After going to Italy for two months and experiencing the wood fired light thin crusts and pizza not drowned in tomato sauce, I find i just don’t enjoy American pizza as much anymore. Because we insist on eating it with hands instead of forks. Hate to betray my local pizzerias in this time of small business needs but I am seriously considering a portable wood fire oven I can use with my fire pit and making my own. Owe for one of those thin crust calzones with a couple layers of prosciutto instead of an inch of deli ham and thin layer of fresh mozzarella and maybe some Asiago and fresh basil.  Damn, I loved those, too.

Having never been to Italy, I don't what that pizza would be, but I'd be happy to eat it.   I also enjoy Chicago style... but I don't refer to that as Pizza.  That's a casserole, but its good.

I did get a pizza stone for my new grill... so I will be experimenting with that soon.   I set my grill to 450 degrees during the initial burn-off and the hood thermometer measured at 550!   Pizza should be fun... and I can even put the stone directly over the fire pot, so I might get it even higher temps if I need it.   But, it's a learning process. I'll start at low temps and move up from there.   I think 400 should be a good starting place.

We went to Italy last year, even the little cheaper street pizza places are amazing. I find my self being disappointed by pizza here as well, then again i live in kansas which isnt exactly the pizza mecca of the world.

My in-laws moved to Newark, DE.  There's not a decent pizza place within 20 miles of their house.

The problem at least in my eyes, is yea, they have their own little bubble to live in. But the bartenders, cashiers, cleaners, servers, cooks etc etc do not. They come in and go home. They go to grocery stores for their own food. Who knows what else they do in their spare time.

Yea, kind of defeats the purpose of the bubble.

Also, when your bubble is in the middle of a state that's exploding with cases and still doesn't mandate wearing masks.

Embiid will be 400 lbs by the time we see basketball again.

A friend of mine works in a big Uni over here and the current thought is students will be on campus in September. Seems mad to me, but that is the current plan as they need the money from foreign students.

But yeah...

On COVID testing, this is the latest from the lower leagues in the UK:

CHAMPIONSHIP

The EFL can confirm that 2798 players and Club staff from the 24 Championship Clubs were tested over the course of the past week with zero individuals testing positive.

LEAGUE ONE

The EFL can confirm that 311 players and Club staff were tested from four League One Clubs over the course of the past week with zero individuals testing positive.

LEAGUE TWO

The EFL can confirm that 154 players and Club staff were tested from four League Two Clubs over the course of the past week with zero individuals testing positive.

Let us know how the pizza stone works.  I have thought of that. Need a hot fire for quick pizza.  In the meantime if anyone knows of a place with that thin Italy style pizza and low filling calzone in central and eastern PA, DE or MD, let me know.

Not necessarily.  I was in northern Italy based out of Milan. Like Baltimore’s Little Italy pasta which tends towards Sicily level seasoning which is better than northern Italy pasta. If only they made the thin eat it with a fork pizzas.

For sure. However the fact is there’s plenty of stadiums around the country like padres and dbacks. Royals, marlins, rays, rangers, mariners, reds, twins. Been to all those. They are of course cheaper then NE. Not all stadiums are like the northeast region where it’s more expensive. There’s plenty where it’s in the 125-150 area. Yankees, Mets, phillies, Red Sox, Cubs, dodgers and giants (Maybe1-2 other teams) are always going to be more pricey then Everyone. But that’s about 1/3 of the stadiums. You just live in a place that the cost of living is more expensive and fans actually care more about sports so they can charge that.

When did we get a black national anthem

Talk about racist

Wow. I feel awful for these guys who won't even get a chance to compete.

You know I’m a big La Liga fan, and it’s interesting that they don’t seem to have a problem compared to the English or American leagues

What does it hurt?

Full disclosure — I’m not American, but it sure seems like if there are activities surrounding the national anthem that folks find offensive, it might be a great idea to go to the fridge and fix some snacks and return for the kickoff rather than get worked up about it.

Ignore him. He comes, race baits, and then leaves without ever contributing anything

I've been here longer than u pal

Having a black anthem is going to just keep racism alive

And by the way my stepson is black

Shows how much u know

Judging people u don't even know

I believe when we stop calling people by color and talk to each other as people racism can start to dissappear

I got that one backwards. I thought with no pre-season theyd let teams have 90 man rosters so no body gets cut without competing, and so teams have extra bodies to fill in for COVID absences.
