I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

LEAGUE ONE

The EFL can confirm that 311 players and Club staff were tested from four League One Clubs over the course of the past week with zero individuals testing positive.

If your disagreements are respectful it has always been safe.

Watching NFL network, documentary on the immaculate reception..quick question. Why does it matter who the ball hit first before Harris caught it? As long as it doesn't hit the ground , isnt it legal?

That’s not what the controversy is about.  It’s about the ball allegedly hitting the ground.  Even though we’ve never seen that.   I still go with that, since I hate Pittsburgh.

Well actually back then if the ball hit the defender first it was considered a dead ball come to find out..so yeah that was a big part of the controversy as well as the ball touching the ground

Back then I believe if the ball hit an O player it had to hit a D play before another O player could catch it. That rule was changed soon thereafter

The play has been a source of unresolved controversy and speculation ever since, as many people have contended that the ball only touched Fuqua or that it hit the ground before Harris caught it, either of which would have resulted in an incomplete pass by the rules at the time.

I think there was a rule back then where if the ball hits one receiver, it can't be caught by another. It's something weird like that. So if it hit the intended receiver only and not the defender, it wouldn't have been a legal catch for Franco no matter what.

The problem is the rate of infection and numbers of positive cases are going up and that's not likely to change.

Let us know how the pizza stone works.  I have thought of that. Need a hot fire for quick pizza.  In the meantime if anyone knows of a place with that thin Italy style pizza and low filling calzone in central and eastern PA, DE or MD, let me know.

First cook tonight on the new grill.  Burgers (my sons request) and zucchini strips (mandolin sliced, EVOO, salt, pepper and topped with parm cheese).  Amazing, better than the burgers, honestly.  Burgers were just premade patties because they were on sale.  (NOT the frozen ones.)

There was an old rule in the NFL that didn't get changed until a few years after that play. Back then, if an offensive player touched a pass downfield, a teammate of his was not allowed to catch the ball unless an opposing player touched it in the interim. So it mattered if it was a Steelers or Raiders player who touched the ball forcing it back to Franco. If it was a Steeler, it would be an ineligible catch. If it was a Raider, it would be legal.

And it looked like it was a Raider who hit it, and it also looked like a legal catch. I think the officials got this one right.

This same rule also came into question during Super Bowl V involving the Colts and Cowboys. My recollection is that that one was more debatable. But it went against the Cowboys, so it's always seemed fair to me!

The physics of the ricochet wouldn't have made it possible to go off the Steelers player, who was moving in the same direction (essentially) as the ball, whereas the Raiders player, moving into the ball would provide it enough energy to bounce as far as it did back to where Harris was.  No way was it off Frenchie.

Best part was the Steelers got bounced by the Dolphins the following week anyway, so they didn’t profit from it a whole lot — unlike the BS of the Tuck Rule, where the Pats went on to win their first Super Bowl, in a game they shouldn’t even have been a part of — truly barf-worthy 🤢

I did get it from Walmart.  This has a sear feature.  You pull back the deflector plate in the center and expose a small section of the grates directly to the fire.

Warning:  It was a little slow in arriving by freight delivery - but I heard that might just be a Philly thing.  The local hub of Pilot freight was overwhelmed here, so it took an extra week to show up at my door.   Meanwhile, it was available to pick up from the local store.    The trouble is, I didn't a vehicle big enough to take it home that way.

I assembled it myself.  It took about 2.5 - 3 hours (give or take).  There's only one point that you really need a second person for the build (when putting the barrel onto the legs... and its a little 'jiggly' up until that point.  But, once you get the bolts and screws in place with the barrel and legs (3 bolts per corner, plus 3 screws in the middle between the legs for both front and back).   And this thing is SOLID.  A legit full 200 lbs.  But, even as I put it together, it didn't feel that heavy (when dealing with it piece by piece).  The barrel and pellet hopper was likely about 100 lbs by itself.  My son and I were able to handle it easily.   I wasn't sure if he was going to be able to do it or not, but once I removed the lid (which is hefty in its own right), the weight was down enough that he could handle the 'light end' while I lifted the pellet box end.  Once it was on the legs, it was easily rotated to line up all the holes.

This morning I completed the initial burn off.  I didn't follow the directions they gave, but ramped it up to temp a little slower.  They say put it on smoke to get it lit for about 8-10 minutes, then crank it up to at least 350 degrees for 30 minutes.   Well, I did it at 250 for 15 minutes, then up to 350 for 15 minutes, then 400 for 15, then 450 for 15 minutes before shutting it down.   I had heard that some people had the paint under the fire pot peel off after the initial burn.  So, I figured a slower heating process was likely better than just ramping it up quickly.  At the 450 setting, the lid thermometer was reading over 500 easily.

Off topic... this is for anyone who may have to deal with unemployment. I live in MD so each state could be different. Since there was a Porsche, Lamborghini discussion I’m assuming most of you are good haha...

But I was officially laid off on 4/3 and returned to work 4/30 thanks to the business I work for getting the small business grant for payroll. So I was laid off for 4 weeks.

It took forever to get the unemployment debit card I said I was getting. I didn’t get that until 6/24 (last Wednesday) and two weeks worth of unemployment was on it.

So I get ahold of someone at unemployment and they tell me since I got paid on 4/20 for two days of work (4/1 and 4/2) that I’m not owed any money before 4/20. So basically it’s not when you get laid off, it’s when you stop getting paid. It took two weeks to get paid for those days because that’s the schedule of the company’s payroll.

If I got those two days of pay right away, then I apparently would have got two more weeks of unemployment...

Meanwhile... my coworker got 4 weeks of unemployment...

Beyond fed up with our government...

Wood pellets?   That’s cute.

Thanks.  My wife always tells me how cute I am, too.

I know that there are BBQ snobs who are stick burner or bust, others swear by only charcoal.   Never really met any that are super Propane evangelists, but I'm sure they are out there.   I got the pellet grill so that I can cook outside, without having to baby sit it in the heat.   I'll be able to cook ribs, with limited interaction with the heat... briskets... turkey legs, etc.   I don't have to babysit a fire.  Sounds like a good thing to me.  I'm not looking to impress anyone.  I am looking to make delicious food and not spend a huge amount of time outside in the heat, and not have to heat up my kitchen either.
