We can't.  We are supposed to be ashamed of where we came from now didn't you get the memo?  Burning the flag isn't a hate crime anymore, a mere slap on the wrist or even celebrated on social media.

We are in a sad, scary place right now.  The loud minority hate our country and for some reason we are bowing down to them.

That's a loaded question with a loaded answer. But just to address the slippery slope aspect to your question...Where does it stop? Where/when can we play the National Anthem? Where/when can we display the American flag? Where/when can we erect monuments? Where/when can we be proud of OUR country? I ask these questions because there will always be a loud minority of people that will be offended.

Here’s the thing...

I care more about the people in the country and the injustices they face than I do a flag, song or monument.

People care more about objects and wealth than living, breathing beings.

I mentioned this previously on this board, and in the past years ago on the other board.   I'm not sure Howie has ever come out and said it this plainly, but Howie is telling the truth here.

You view it as an either/or scenario. It's not.

Did not say that.

You can care about both, but what you keep being outraged about shows where your priorities are.

And that’s not directed towards you in any way. Just a general stance.

I can only speak for myself, but I'm outraged by hypocrisy and unbridled support of said hypocrisy

Not sure if this was posted previously; an interesting assessment of the Roy Halladay crash:

You replied before my edit, but ya that wasn’t  directed at you.

I am too.

Some people feel the flag/national anthem represents the people who were living/breathing beings who gave up their lives for everyone who is alive today. This goes for black, white, brown, and all other countries and their flags. They all gave up the ultimate price for their Country which is represented by that so called object, aka flag/song. I don't agree with any kneeling no matter what anthem. There are other ways. Jenkins saw that and realized there was another way to not upset anyone. Even though I don't agree with how Jenkins handled the Brees situation, i still respect him for trying to make it right for all parties.

So i get ur point but your seeing it one sided and not what that flag represents to a lot of people and what they care about. So yes some take a knee for their reason to show awareness but at the same time it disrespects a lot of people. Most should learn from Jenkins that you can get your point a crossed without showing any disrespect to anyone.

I understand that point of view, and I think collectively we should push to make the lives  our vets better. To me the kneeling issue is low on that list. We should push our government to give them better/cheaper healthcare. I think that will go much further in showing respect to our troops.

Jenkins is a hypocrite and a media ****.  It's that simple.  What Brees said really should not even be compared to Desean/Malik.  It just doesn't compare.  And the fact that one generated an obviously obligatory passing acknowledgement while the other triggered a 4 alarm fire siren just exposes him further.

To even say that "black lives don't matter in this country" is just an outrageous exaggeration that cheapens his stance.  I support black lives matter, they do matter...but this country is also burning because of the tragic end of one black life.  People of all colors have died in the ensuing chaos.  Things need to get better, and they will continue to do so, ideally in a more direct path than we have seen in the past.  But to just say that "black lives don't matter in this country"?  You are free to take your celebrity, 4 year full-ride university eduction, and estimated >$50m net worth that you earned in this country as a black man and find another one where black lives apparently matter more.  Again, progress is needed, but vengeful overstatement isn't getting things anywhere either.

It's not because of one life, systematic racism by police against black and brown people in this country has been documented extensively, not just anecdotal evidence but also statistical studies. We don't even collect good data on police killings, wonder why? Floyd was just the last straw.

Burning the flag is Constitutionally protect free speech as the Courts have correctly ruled. Unpopular speech is protected. We should always fight to protect unpopular speech lest someday that unpopular speech be our own.

I won’t argue the problems with the police.

I'd say not signing him is worse for Dallas. Then you play the tag game and probably Kirk Cousins him.

I honestly think its overkill if it even is true. He doesnt need to be educated on the Holocaust, or meet with all these people etc. Just learn to step back and think if something is common sense a good idea to post or not before you hit that send button. This goes for all players or even people in any topic. Thats the problem with our school system today. They are so worried about getting kids the highest SAT scores, getting them into the best colleges that they ignore common sense teaching. Id personally rather be common sense smart then book smart. This world needs a lot more common sense.

You are missing the point on this

I think we’re fine either way. If he signs with Dallas and gets a huge payday, great. He’s not an elite quarterback. If he doesn’t sign and wants to switch teams, great. Good quarterbacks don’t grow on trees.

There’s always a chance they can sign him pretty cheap, but those odds are low.

How about this for a can of worms? What evidence of systemic racism by police?

Pretty much. But I would rather Dallas go through the hassle of trying to find another good QB and giving up the opportunity they had by stumbling a** backwards into one in the 4th round. They got lucky with Romo and then with Dak. It's annoying.

Problem with common sense is that it’s not that common.

But I do think people need to have better understanding of history which goes back to our education system I feel like there’s a lot of kids growing up that I don’t know details of history in the way they should. Was listening to  975 When a black woman began talking about DeSean Jackson’s ignorance on it and she said I never had the experience of learning about the holocaust until Schindler’s list came out. once that happened I had to go research it because I was never taught in school. I thought that was pretty astonishing but then again I don’t think we properly give respect to all aspects in history we just give fractions of what the true painting a picture is. That’s why when I got to college one of my majors with history because I found it fascinating to know more in depth knowledge of times and situation than I ever did

I think DAL has done a poor job with their cap.  Jones caved and overpaid Zeke, and he hasn’t gotten much of a return at all (yet) from giving out raises to Demarcus Lawrence and Jaylon Smith.

I also think giving Amari Cooper 5 years and $100M was a poor choice.

And some veterans feel they fought for the concept of America as a country, which includes the Bill of Rights and the 1st amendment, not a piece of cloth.

Free speech isn't "free" if it only includes speech that doesn't offend anyone. Otherwise Trump would be facing a life sentence.

Burning the flag is obviously a political statement.

Is this the Blog or CVON?
