There was an article posted about that, that Gannon needs to get his act together. We know week 1 is not a barometer, but you see your weaknesses and what needs tweaked on the field for the first time. We have alot of talent, now it's no Gannon to put it together

We need to bring up 7 in the box to create pressure and force then to throw quick passes to their WR's who will be covered by Slay and Bradberry with someone on their TE and a floating safety. If he can do that, create pressure on Cousins, then we will do much better than all think.... Yes Jefferson will get his 100 yards, but I doubt Thielen will do much and Cook will not either...

I believe we can cover Thielen ok. JJ can be put anywhere inside or out and they will use him to exploit wherever we are weakest. We traded them Reagor also. IDK if he is ready to roll yet,but it's a possibility we have to defend him also. An insane pass rush would really help us LOL. BTW if Swift got what what he did,Cook will run all over us

Maddox can cover Reagor easily enough.... Vikings played allot of 3 WR sets so we can expect that for the most part on Monday...

Reagor, who was traded from Philadelphia to Minnesota at the end of August, feels comfortable enough with the Vikings' offensive system, in which he'll have a chance to receive WR snaps Sunday against the Packers. He's listed as the team's No. 4 wide receiver behind Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen and K.J. Osborn, and the 2020 first-round pick is in line to serve as the team's starting punt returner Week 1.

Guess we will find out Monday

Let's just say Gannon will be burning some midnight oil this week

I am not sold on Gannon yet. He has done nothing to impress me to date and has enough to work with now. So no excuses as far as I am concerned. Either he gets the job done or they get his butt out of here...

Sad we never ever provided Schwartz what we have given Gannon

But he is so good that he is going to get a head coaching job.  Maybe Howie traded the 3rd first round pick instead of drafting an elite defensive player because he didn't want to give Gannon so much talent that he would do well and leave?

These are theories from a different planet.

Nor the head coach and QB either.   It's like it was an experiment ... let's take a SB winning coach, DC and MVP level QB...and let's see what happens if we provide them the worst environment possible.

Can we do this and still keep our jobs...lol.    OC by committee.... lol

If Gannon ever gets a HC gig I really want to know what that GM was thinking...... or what meds he was on at the time

Maybe Gannon would hire a great DC?

Well he has intangibles

He also does good pressers!

I think our offense can play as well as anyone's. I believe their O is a bit better. Their D is very solid and for me how our D plays will be the game difference. if you can play well we could win this, but we can't give up 35 like we did in Detroit yet I am assuming that we will unless we really have made some changes from last week.(I am also assuming the VIkes O is better than Detroits was)

The vikings O-line is not as good as the lions.......but our d-line is not as good as advertised either.

The big question is whether Gannon can dial up pressure from all over and make cousins very uncomfortable in the pocket.  Dean and Davis need to get more snaps.....

WR's are a rather "prima donna" group as a whole. They want their stat lines,so yes it matters or you start to breed discord in the WR room and I would like to try and avoid that. yes certain games are better suited to certain WR's you have,no avoiding that either, but Quez with no looks at all?  Smith 4 targets,6-7 would be better IMO and Goedert is a weapon. Can't be the Hurts panic run/AJ Brown show or you will start to hears grumbling because stats are what get these players bigger money down the road. As I said 1 game, not in panic mode but it will be something to look for the next 2-3 weeks. Siri does seems aware of this so let's see what he does as a coach. He even said he doesn't want to be 1 dimensional

You fail to mention a huge key: the Oline has to block things up. Several times QB1 was forced to take off because of an unchecked rusher. Kind of embarrassing for what many here stated was the best Oline in the entire league. Didn’t look like it pass blocking week one. Also if you rush for over 200 yards you’d pretty much assume you aren’t throwing for 350. Can’t do everything all at once. Detroit has clearly been poor run defense the last two years. Easiest way to blow week one was yo force the passing game and not utilize our biggest advantage. Glad we ran the rock down their throats.

Hurts is too quick as a runner, 4 man rush isn't going to be enough to contain him.  It's enough to move him off the spot and out of the pocket,  but not to catch and tackle him.   If it's me as the opposing DC, I go all in like Tampa did last year with the backyard football blitz every play with the bump coverage.

Force the quick decision, but take away the slant and screen.  Hurts will hit a few passes on the quick outside go route, but idk, I'd let him try to beat me like that and take away everything else.

Exactly why AJ was a great fit. Got a guy that can beat Press coverage. Smitty and Quez had major issues with that coverage last season. I sure hope Smitty worked hard on this aspect of improving his game.

Agreed. This D is much better that the Lions. They are good at taking away TE's which is the "out" for Hurts. Vikes will test every facet of our defense and I hope Gannon has some answers after last week. Davis looked mosly good when he was in and lets remember he is new to the NFL,but he played well his first time. He's QUICK for a HUGE man and that could be key to slowing down Cook or at least altering where they run him

13th pick run defender

Same show w/ Baldy covered Minn as well. Jefferson was WIDE open, I mean nobody within 10 yds of the guy. Have no idea what the D was doing. We have advantages of a better D in coverage ( if they learn how to tackle! ) and some game tape.

GB was struggling in coverage. But I’d also point out the X and Os of how they designed to get him open. Be great if our offense showed some brilliance instead of just the brut physical style we excel at.

You should want the ball in the best players hands...  BP1.

We saw 1 week of football. We do not KNOW that Minnesota has a better D than Detroit. We do not know that they can cover TE's at all after one week. I do feel we need to do a better job stopping the Pass and tackling. I do hope Gannon does a better job preparing the team.

I heard HR is in the Room when the coaches build up a strategy for the game. Not sure if he has any say on this game plan or if Lurie just wants him to keep an eye on Gannon. But I do find this a bit disturbing. No GM ever goes to the Game Plan meetings.....

Big brother looking over their shoulder constantly. Makes the coaches glorified puppets under Rosie and Lurie. Seems that’s how they feel.

The offense will have to counter press coverage and a run blitz.  It's why it seems the QB has less time than he has.  BP1 must be able to burn the blitz with passes.

Finally some questioning the coaching!
