Last year the last week was week 17 ... 16 games.... nest year the last week will be week 18 ... the 17th game.   We would have had nothing to play for.   Neither would all the other teams I mentioned... but yay... lets have FOUR 7-9 teams battle it out with two more 8-8 teams and a 9-7 3rd place team for a final wildcard spot.... yippee... so exciting.   Who needs to get right into the NE vs Tenn, Seattle vs Philly,  Saints vs Vikings or Houston vs Buffalo matchups.... so lets wait a week to see if Sam Darnold or the Steelers QB can get in...lol

Of coarse it’s exciting to have anybody battle for a playoff spot. That’s a bunch of fan bases involved. Millions of fans. If we are the ninth place team going into the final two weeks. Which format would you be hoping for?

I'd rather not get in at 7-9 as a wildcard.     To me... better off starting the playoffs with those 3 to 6 seeds... instead of playing the last week of regular season with 9th seeds as possible playoff teams.  That' just me.   I don't think those teams i mentioned last year deserved to be playoff teams... it cheapens it... like basketball and hockey.

So your theory is we only needed to be caring about juggernaut football like the Cowboys...not crappy football like the Steelers last year?

If I was 7-9 and got in as the 6th seed... then its bad enough but necessary under a format where you need 3 vs 6 and 4 vs 5 in wildcard.... but I don't need a 7-9 team to get in to force the 2 seed to play them.

oops... you are correct... the Cowboys would have been in the race for 7 along with the Rams and Bears... great drama.  But man, the Jets making the playoffs would have been one for the ages.... ratings through the roof baby!

Last year the Rams had the same record as us and didn’t get in the postseason. They would have been the third wild card with an extra playoff teAm. I think GB was the two seed. Rams playing GB first playoff game. Or GB bye. I’d rather see the Rams go at the Packers. Might have been able to knock off the team that made to the NFC Chanpionship. Much better than no game at all.

Not buying this

Definitely worth a worthless week from Philly, Minnesota, Seattle, Tennessee ..etc.   We need more worthless weeks from good teams so they can come in rusty for playoffs ...and we need to sneak in those 7-9 teams to get in.    much more exciting that getting right to those boring wildcard games.     If we made the schedule 22 games and had 10 playoff teams for each conference... imagine the excitment of those extra fan bases.... being in the race at 6-15 and a shot at the 10th seed.   Awesome baby!!!!

WRONG... last year the Rams would have had to fight in their 17th game to get into the playoffs... for some reason you are only looking at 7 seeds and not the extra game at the end as a factor?    WHY????   week 18 would have been added and those teams I mentioned would have had to fight for a spot.   It's not hard to see it... why are you being difficult

17 games ... 7 playoff teams... take into consideration ALL of it... not just how you like to cherry pick to make it fit your narrative.... take it ALL into consideration.  17 games...

17 games

You dog the Jets but you need to remember they lost their QB to mono for like four games...that they lost. So they actually were playing pretty good ball at the end.

For half the narrative.... after 16 games the Rams and Steelers would have been in  .... but the whole change....is week 18 would have had games... the Rams and Steelers would have had to fight to get in with the teams I mentioned... and the other teams like the Eagles, could have rested guys.   This is the entire change... not just " hey we get an extra 2 exciting wildcard games the first week"   There is more to the story.

HAM.. whatever works for you... I have mt preference... you have yours... you must be hating missing the first round of the NBA playoffs... those exciting 7th and 8th seeds boy!!!  PHEW  .. great ratings!   But not like those Jets... Robbie Anderson means ratings!!!

Well it’s mixed up talking about reality and hypotheticals with you. What actually happens last year was the Rams had the same record as us at 9-7 and didn’t get in. If three wild card teams happened last year....they would have made it. Rams were pretty good. Could have won a playoff game. Were we a better more deserving team than them? Probably not.

We are mixing hypothetical with fact. Now we are mixing what happened last year in a 16 game schedule with what happens in a seventeen game schedule. That’s one part of the hypothetical. The other part is six playoff teams vs seven playoff teams. We both are  all over the place with fact vs hypothetical. Not your fault or mine...but a bit confusing.

You are ****ing about a worthless week that never even existed before...just to point out the obvious.

Right... because we played 16 games. But this will exist with the changes going forward.  Dude, for someone who knows the 4th string safety for Appalachian State...how do you fail to realize that the league is adding a 17th game?

Right... but we are talking about the 3 wildcard teams for 17 games.  You are just focused on this year. I don't care about just this year. I'm talking the future of the league ...which combines more playoff teams and more regular season games.  It's what matters, not just the one extra playoff team.

Ham, I'm not confused. I've been talking about 7 playoff teams with 17 games the whole time. I think you are confused because you are just looking at one thing.

My scenarios were not hypothetical.  Its what happened after 16 games last and what we would have been going into week 17 with.   Those were the standings after 16 games. No longer " final standings" anymore... it will be with one more game left.  That is a huge factor when looking into who will be battling for the 7th seed... but also who won't need to play for anything in week 18. It all matters.

Man I cant leave you guys alone for an hour lol

So the key here(as I see it) is win all your games early, then you can coast with some #2's at a few spots.Even if you lose, your better guys are rested and your 2's gain some actual playing time.Like you know we could have coasted more if we hadn't lost to the Lowly FIns last year

Howie Roseman brings up that he views getting DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery back as part of the WR core improving in 2020 #Eagles

Okay we have the above statement and we have the below. Lets take a vote. Is Jeffery with the club the hole 2020 season or not?

Apr 28, 2020 · At this point, we are just waiting for the press release detailing that Alshon Jeffery is gone. All signs point to the former Pro Bowler’s exit but this latest move confirmed the rumor. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Eagles traded for San Francisco 49ers wideout Marquise Goodwin

So who is your "underdog team" this year.I mean who will come out unexpectedly?.If I had to choose 1,I would say AZ.I think they will be better than people think.Tough division, not saying they will win it,but I think they will surprise some teams

Let’s say Wentz went down early in the season along with DJax. But both were healthy at the end of season. I’d be frothing to get into the playoffs. Wouldn’t you want to get in to the playoffs? You could be 7-9 or whatever the third wild card. But as we’ve seen it’s about hitting the postseason hot....not about being blockbuster week one. And once in anything can happen.

A playoff team that doesn’t play wild card weekend has to play now. Nothing lost in that. If you think that third wild card team sucks then they get knocked out the first game of the playoffs. No biggie. But the two seed doesn’t get as easy a gift to the conference championship. I grew tired of the Pats formula of being a two seed granting them the AFC Championship game  every year. That sucked. Just because the Jets, Bills and Phins sucked for so long. And look what happened last year...the Pats didn’t get that bye....and poof they got knocked out. Makes more sense to me. Your division sucks and you are number one seed....I can’t take as much away from you on that. But too many times the Pats had a weak AFC and got gifted.

IDK.What would happen if we didn't play him alot, would he quit on his own? IDK anyone who would trade anything for him.

I don't care how good a player is. If he's a cancer in the locker room he isn't worth having around.

I obviously realize the addition. Never didn’t. But like I said the lines got blurred between hypothetical and real in our discussion. But it’s an extra week of football. The trade off is they took away the fourth preseason game. So you’d rather have the fourth so meaningful preseason game than a 17th regular game?

No but you try to get something for him rather than eat 10 million
