Yeah Howie isn’t going anywhere as long as Lurie is here.

Howie isn't going to fire himself... People like to point fingers, so start with the guy who continues to allow this nonsense.

Complaining about Lurie is pointless though. He’s not going to sell the team.

So is complaining about Howie

I’m just hoping Lurie constantly getting grilled by the media helps him get the point. When people stop going to games again I’m sure he’ll get the message.

I've never seen the media and in game broadcasters hammer Howie and Lurie as bad as they did this past season..... He is still here.

Eagles Youngster Ready to Ink $100M Deal:

Jordan Mailata

It seems odd to predict the future contract of a player who is fighting for a starting job, but the British media loves stirring the pot. And Jordan Mailata – the promising young left tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles – is their new 6-foot-8, 346-pound mixing bowl.

The Daily Telegraph believes Mailata is about to join Ben Simmons, Jason Day, Patty Mills as one of "Australia’s highest-paid sportspeople” after his breakout 2020 campaign. The former Aussie rugby star was impressive in 10 starts last season filling in for injured left tackle Andre Dillard. Now it appears that eye-opening tryout could net Mailata up to $100 million, or $20 million per year.

Yeah, and Lane Johnson will have something to say about that.

No doubt. Don't disagree at all, but he's getting old.

Never gonna happen

Great article today at bleeding green nation on Dilliard being a complete bust. I completely agree with the assessment he can not play at all in the nfl. Team now looking at Reagor and similar deficinies. Reagor will play but not sure how well. Could be decent or could also bust. The analytics dept screwed up both those picks

It’s happened before. The Eagles have been blacked out before due to low attendance. If the Eagles are peddling a bad product then people aren’t going to pay for it.

Our best players are on the lines and are not far from retirement.  With them we're looking at 6-11, 5-12.  What happens two years from now when Lane might be still here, but everyone else is gone.  No doubt the FO will ship off a boatload of high draft picks for Watson, Wilson or some other QB.  Won't have the resources then to reload the rest of the team.  This could be a long slow rebuild.

But this is a team that builds through the trenches so over the next couple of years they'll start to do exactly that.

It was the first time really. I don’t know if Jeff can continue to protect Howie year after year though.

Howie isn't going to release him or trade him for a 7th round pick, so best case scenario is ANY reason to put him on IR.

I knew Dilliard was screwed when he starting crying after getting in a scuffle with Barnett his Rookie year. Dude is too soft.

The only thing that will save Dillard is being safely under contract for another year when Howie tries to low ball Mailata at the end of the year.

That and I think the fact that Mailata can be versatile and they need depth at OT.

We got Mailata in the 7th rounder (pick 233) of the 2018 draft. That would basically make it a wash at worst, if we got a 7th in return for Dillard. You could almost say the same if we wound up releasing him outright.

You hate to have wasted that 2019 1st rounder on a bust, but chalk it up as a learning experience (not that Howie learns from these kinds of mistakes) and be thrilled/grateful that Mailata has developed into a starting caliber LT who can ease the pain of wasting that 1st round pick on Dillard.

Wash your hands and move on.

I was expecting/hoping it to be a closer battle but it's still very early to declare an outright winner

Dillard is more of what we saw as a rookie and last year before his injury.  He gets manhandled by those stronger than him.   Nothing has changed.

Very year i wish for the same thing. I hope that this was a learning experience for Howie...and the next year it is the same thing..most of the time..What is he doing??? I have to give him credit though for this years draft....and getting rid of Wentz...which he mortgaged a future for.

They should be rushing a contract extension for Mailata before the start of the season.  He's the starter at LT for the foreseeable future.  It will cost them more the longer they wait.  I wonder if the latest restructures are to accommodate a sizeable Mailata contract coming soon

Sure is looking that way. Mailata is just flat out winning the position. Dillard talked a great game by saying he was a new person. That's great, Dillard, congrats. But if being a changed person doesn't make you a better player, there are no guarantee's.  Mailata is simply outplaying his competition. Dillard pretty much has lost the battle.

This has been my train of thought on it as well. Dillard by all accounts looks like a bust, but Mailata being a young/athletic/extremely high ceiling player makes it so much easier to get over Dillard. Credit to Eagles scouting staff for finding Mailata, definition of late round gem

I think a 3 year contract extension would make the most sense for both Eagles & Mailata right now.
