That's one way of looking at it.  The other side is the timing of the Reich move really screwed them.  I think the bigger issue was more related to the excessive loyalty shown.. we have seen this as an organizational milieu... especially after the Super Bowl.

You mean Josh Mcdope screwed them in the Reich situation. Just another reason to despise that POS team.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

I think I have found a new @greend quote for a signature.

Ok....then why shield them from harm? Hard to get a true evaluation when the first 4 weeks of the regular season is our de facto "preseason".  Like in years past.  Carson barely played in the preseason the past few years too.

Do we even know that the Jets are playing their starters? I’m not sure what good it would do to bother playing starters against backups. Backups on a team whose starters are even bad, no less.

I mean... that's your story, but I think we are going to need to have a bit more evidence of this.

We do have footage of you at work...

Week 1 Atlanta- W

Week 5 @ Carolina- W

These are the games you and I have different.

Starting QB will not have taken a game rep in 31 days, and the full offensive starting group has not taken one rep together in a game.  Falcons will jump out early, only hope is they remember they are the Falcons and collapse in the second half.  Plus, your favorite player Kyle Pitts will start getting fitted for his gold jacket

Coming off the Chiefs game, and looking ahead to playing Tampa Bay on a short week on Thursday night, the Panthers will take advantage.

At this point, we have to be excited for Tuesday.  Nothing else to go by.

I wonder what Qb we will pick up off the wire?  Because Mullens has to go.  Hurts will get hurt with his style of play.  And Flacco is Flacco.....

We will roll with only 2, that's certain

Maybe it's purely financial. "Star" players put butts in the seats during the regular season

Howie is bottom 5 talent evaluations and we were ok with it because of his cap skills and trade skills.

Now that we're in Cap hell, he's not getting a break on the drafting/talent evaluations

If players like Mailata, Watkins, Gainwell, Milton Williams, McPhearson become studs, can we really say that anymore? Doesn't fix the past but those are all 3rd rounders or later. He still struggles with the most important picks (1st and 2nd rounders), with Smith looking to be an exception.

Good for you.  Glad you ignored everything else.  Yeah, they will not be in game shape.

Didn't ignore.  You were making a well-founded argument based on observable information until....

One thing to consider though, how much more "game shape" will the Falcons be?  They also have a two week layoff.

How much more prepared can the Falcons be?  Do they have a secret fourth preseason game that we can't see?

To be fair...I'm not in Connecticut anymore.

But hey, you spend a few decades building a brand.

Really didn't want to Carmen Sandiego my handle like afan did.

@4for4EaglesNest here is your "and I am sure there is more"

It is a big deal because Hurts has played two series in the preseason, and when he gets on the field week 1, it will have been 31 days since he has taken a snap in a game.

What if the Eagles storm out to a big win week 1? Would that nullify your hysteria over preseason?

True enough.  I checked through the game summaries of the Falcons preseason, and no numbers at all for Ryan, Ridley, Pitts, etc.

That would fit under the 'great ape' designation.

Of course.  But when we do it, it's a Lurie/Howie misguided conspiracy.

I predicted that BTW.  Check the last page.

I mean if they come out with a strong September let's say....then I think you'd have to agree it makes all this angst about pre-season worthless?

If they sustain an unusual amount of injuries, look out of sorts, or basically a repeat of the last 3 Septembers, then I think the argument can certainly be made that pre-season is more important than the brass thinks it is.

Of course, muddying everything is that this team might not be any good anyway, so they may just look like crap because....well....they are what @greend is flinging around, apparently.

Or would it be an alien......................with special cloaking abilities. Maybe a nephilim. We're just not sure yet

Not a conspiracy... institutional philosophy.

But, there are teams that are using preseason games to prepare for the regular season more traditionally.

I expect veterans like Matt Ryan, Mike Davis, Calvin Ridley to have an easier time adjusting to game 1 with no reps than a QB with 4 career starts, a rookie WR and an oft injured RB who has been struggling to catch the ball in camp.
