1st or 2nd doesn’t matter

howie will still reach for a 4th with that pick

I mean I get the distrust for Howie’s drafting but I have to say that so far 2021 is looking like a good one. Smith has been a stud, Gainwell already a big contributor for a 5th rounder, Milton Williams has been solid enough for a 3rd round pick. Dickerson has done decent for a rookie coming off injury to be thrust into the lineup without a camp.

Well, we knew he was injured when he was drafted and wouldn't have a camp that first year.  So... that was the plan.

If there is a so called 1st rd talent who was injured going into the draft, and fell to the 2nd rd, you know Howie is going to GAMBLE on them.

he cant pass up the perceieved bargain. He always states the Value was high!

Yes early call is he finally hit on a draft this year.  Now he needs to be able string together a few in a row to get this team back on track and become a legitimate contender.  He definitely needs to take advantage of the extra premium draft capital he acquired next year and hit on those high picks.  Fingers crossed.

The plan was not for him to be starting.

True but the odds of that not happening were basically 0. So either way it was a terrible plan. That and the fact that they took a run blocking dominant lineman to not run the ball makes them even more stupid.

Well honestly I think the plan was for him to be the backup at center and take over for Kelce next season.  But the lack of guard depth changed the plan. At least that’s how I see it.

I believe that to be the plan too but, to rely on that plan with the amount of injury problems that already existed on this team was just more idiotic hopes that this broken team could stay healthy.

Then they weren't paying attention to their OL health.  The plan had to be that he would end up starting this year... because the injuries to the OL would be coming.

The lack of depth at guard because Howie...

Yeah people thought that way about Foles too.

nobody was thinking that.  Foles was considered a decent backup, he was a one time all star, with Wentz's current backups, you can count the number of completions they all have thrown on one hand.

That doesn’t mean they are bad and when Foles came back to Philly he was considered a failure in the league contemplating retirement. No one expected Foles to play the way he did. That’s why some people were calling for Sudfeld that season.

It’s pretty difficult to expect to go three deep at both guard positions. Some things I can’t blame on Howie. It’s pretty hard to anticipate an all-pro RG, Serviceable LG, and an All-pro RT all being out. There just isn’t enough roster spots for all of that.

I’m not high on the QBs in this draft, so while I don’t think Hurts is the guy, I don’t see good value using a top 10 pick on one. I do hope guys like Corral and Willis land there, means a guy like Hamilton or even Stingley lands in the range this pick sits right now. To me this draft presents a chance for us to reshape the defensive identity. I’d be fine with DL too but this draft is screaming secondary. Imagine Hamilton and one of the CBs with these traded-for picks.

Unless we swing for Watson/Wilson, I'm good rolling with Hurts for another year.

Hard pass on drafting a 2022 QB in the early rounds.

All true, so the answer to getting depth for any of that shouldn't start with a guy that is already hurt.

The Howie way. Draft hurt guys. Keep extending hurt guys. When was the last time they got a full season out of Brooks or Lane? I guess you can blame Howie. 😂

You mean the all Pro RG that is over 30 and missed all of last season with an injury, and the RT also over 30 that was shut down last year with a collapsed ankle...  not hard to anticipate that they'd miss time.  In fact, I predicted it.  And is it hard to predict another player would get dinged as well?  Not at all.  Thats the constant with this team.  So, maybe bringing in a draft pick who was already injured wasn't a great idea in Round 2, maybe the contracts Howie gave out to these older, injury prone OL after their injuries started building up and 2 years before their previous contracts were due to expire was a mistake.  Hmmm...

for the past 3 years you and i have been beating the drum on us relying on older oft injured players, and when we drafted dickerson, I know I for one immediately brought this up.

It is what Howie does.

They bring in different health staff all the time, and try to stop the Philly injury curse. But the curse is just....

Friends to the end hidey ho!!!

I’ve been busy with work/projects that I haven’t had much time to post but out of curiosity, does anyone have the "inside scoop” on what’s going on with Lane?

No none of us do bud. Plenty of guesses and rumours but nothing from the team.

I don't think you know what you're talking about.  Hurts made a lot of sense at the time, and we would be lost as a franchise without him now.

Oh where would this franchise be without the 25th best QB in the league? Scary to think about you're right!
