Merry Christmas! Good breakdown of Hurts on Tuesday. The fumble is even more frustrating.

Some misreads, lots of off-platform throws, missed opportunities, and really sloppy footwork.  Two great catches by Smith and Ward to compensate for the two dropped passes.  Even the throw O’Sullivan really liked — the jump-throw on target to Reagor, gives me a "yuck” reaction.  That throw will get picked as often as completed.  Glad O’Sullivan recognizes what I tried to point out — the play to Goedert that Orlovsky loved could have easily been a hospital ball if the DB is more aggressive.

The choice is, do you take a mouldable, very athletic, raw thrower of the football and put in the years of development required — or do you say "Man, this offense can be scary good with an on-schedule, on-platform distributor of the football”?

Problem is the only "on-schedule, on-platform distributor of the football" the last 4 drafts are Mac Jones, Herbert and Allen (who needed three seasons to become that guy).

So not only do you have to pick in the top 10, but the odds are still stacked against you - odds are you'll end up with a big armed, athletic QB who may take 3-4 years to arrive if ever.

And veterans, if you have to trade multiple 1st rd picks and absorb a $35-40M cap hit, you'd better have a SB caliber team built up already, b/c once you make that deal, you're going to suffer talent decline for 2-3 seasons. And you'd better hope you didn't just sell your future for a "name" with his best seasons behind him.

No easy answer.

No you don’t.  Agreed that only 8 of the last 30 first round picks at QB have panned out as intended, but — again — Hurts was a 3rd round prospect the Eagles took early.

There are better prospects in this coming draft.  No slam dunks, but better.

That is indeed the choice. On Tuesday Siriani was presented with a similar choice.  Elliott had just successfully kicked a field goal, but Washington was offsides.  Do you take the five yard penalty and try and convert the 4th and 1 snap that would be available to you?  He took the points, because (in my opinion) he KNEW what he had with that option.  If he took the penalty (and the 3 points off the board) there were unknowns and with those unknowns came downside risk.

The unknown in Alphagrand's scenario is whether you can actually obtain an on-schedule, on-platform distributor of the football.  There are 31 other teams that are looking for a player like that.  You know what you have in Hurts.  You know the positives and you know the warts.  You also know what you have as players around Hurts.  The best and deepest O-Line in the NFL, with a succession plan already in place.  Solid RBs.  Solid TEs.  The only seriously improvable group are the WRs.  That certainly seems to be a good melting pot to "simmer" Hurts in.  With a bit of luck he will develop.  To torture the Tuesday metaphor, he currently is a field goal ... 3 points on the board ... but the goal not just one score, but rather to win the game.

Are any of those "better prospects" going to get the Eagles to the promised land?  Again, we don't know the answer to that question ... so if you choose one of them (I'd love to know who they are), are you just marginally closer, but still only part way there?  We thought we had a lead me to the promised land QB in Wentz, but somehow that train went off the rails.  The Rams thought they had a lead me to the promised land QB in Goff, but somehow that train went off the rails.

Elliott is getting cut

Happy Festivus to all!

Currently performing feats of strength, later I'll be in to air grievances.

Complaining about off-platform throws in 2021 😬

Having numbers on the Browns helmets was a bad idea.  Looks terrible.

This game started off horribly for the eagles and humanity. Need the packers to keep winning so Dallas doesn’t have a chance at the one seed heading into that game week 18.

And thank you baker!

If they traded for Rodgers I wouldn't be mad. So accurate on throws

Can he bring Adams with him? Lol

Put Rodgers behind this O-Line with our 3,000 yard running game, along with stud pass catchers like Goedert and Smitty, and you have the best offense in the NFC, maybe the NFL.

How original.  Those losers seriously need new material.  Plenty of fan bases have done stupid stuff.  You'll never hear about it from the lame a$$ media though.

The ass beating has begun

Baker needs to stick to commercials

Ridiculous catch by Lazard. And a great throw by rodgers
