When the Eagles traded for Wentz, they envisioned him as a 10 year answer, not a one year flash in the pan. Things sometimes work out in strange ways. And they were able to trade up using players/contracts they wanted to shed in any case. A certain amount of luck involved.

You're assuming that if we trade for a QB, someone will take our picks in the 20s and not insist on the Miami pick.

Plus, it's one thing to trade future 1st rd picks like the Rams AFTER you've build your team, rather than doing it while you're building your team. If you do the latter, you may have to "buy" veteran patches to fill holes, and as we've recently seen, that can be a downward spiral. If you build a young core, sign them to early extensions, you have more flexibility. One problem with the 2017 team was a good part of the roster were players in their late 20s, and they decayed over the next few years.

Jeffrey (27), Ertz (27), Peters (35), Wisniewski (28), Brooks (28), Lane (28), Curry (29), Cox (27), Graham (29), Kendricks (27), Bradham (28), Mcleod (27), Jenkins (30).

Injuries, free agents (Hicks, Agholor, T Smith, Darby), didn't help, but only Kelce and Graham maintained, Lane had injury issues, the others faded away.

Howie just didn't have the heart to blow it up after 2019, but the handwriting was on the wall.

So, he failed as a GM.

Facts, damn facts.

That's actually an interesting thought... combine the Thursday night games with the London games.... and have a bye before the London game.  10 days rest on the front side, 10 days on the back side.  And no team has to deal with the travel as a major issue, as they can travel a couple days before hand and travel back the day after.   By the time Sunday rolls around, they are back on a regular schedule.   Also, Londoners get a chance to see almost every team that way.

Makes too much sense though.   Will never happen.

The time change is working against us, unless the NFL would do me the favor of having a ThNF at say 5pm EST… that’s pretty late for the Londoners.

Well, in recent posts Afan has opined that the Eagles lack talent on offense and on defense.

Perhaps he will admit that the Eagles lack talent at GM.

Nah.

Any NFL team that hires BOB as their HC gets what they deserve.  He's a bum faced idiot.  There are better options out there for their HC position.  Proves Khan still knows ish about the NFL that he is even considering that idiot

Here are some historical trades for #18 ... the first one moving down to #31, which is one of the two Super Bowl teams and doesn't fit Iggles_Phan's "bad team" criteria ... the second one again is with one of the Playoffs teams ...

Cowboys traded • 2013 first round pick (#18-Eric Reid) to 49ers for • 2013 first round pick (#31-Travis Frederick) + 2013 third round pick (#74-Terrance Williams) on 2013-04-25

Seahawks traded • 2018 first round pick (#18-Jaire Alexander) +• 2018 seventh round pick (#248-Kendall Donnerson) to Packers for • 2018 first round pick (#27-Rashaad Penny) + 2018 third round pick (#76-Mason Rudolph) • 2018 sixth round pick (#186-Jacob Martin) on 2018-04-26

And Here are some historical trades for #14 ... the first example being a trade down of 9 slots picking up two current year 3rd round picks.  Transforming those into a better pick the following year, possibly even a 1st round pick is interesting to consider ...  the second one already has a future year 1st Rounder in it ...

Vikings traded • 2021 first round pick (#14-Alijah Vera-Tucker) + 2021 fourth round pick (#143-Tyree Gillespie) to Jets for • 2021 first round pick (#23-Christian Darrisaw) + 2021 third round pick (#66-Kellen Mond) + 2021 third round pick (#86-Wyatt Davis) on 2021-04-29

Packers traded • 2018 first round pick (#14-Marcus Davenport) to Saints for • 2018 first round pick (#27-Rashaad Penny) + 2018 fifth round pick (#147-Micah Kiser) • 2019 first round pick (#30-Deandre Baker) on 2018-04-26

What are the historical trades in that area for trading out of the draft completely?  I can see that being a prominent option for one of the 1st round picks. Take a 3rd/4th this year, plus a 1 next year.

You don’t, just a question, it’s not the end of the world, but it’s an interesting trade proposal IMO, that’s all.
Clearly I’m an idiot, no one disputes that, but apparently in more ways than I believed because if I’m the Browns, I don’t make that trade, but most fans disagree with me.  I don’t think much of Baker, or Kirk, but Baker still has some years left and he’s cheaper for at least one year.

I don't think you're an idiot. That said I was just trying to figure out who Baler was on our team for that trade. I wouldn't want either one of those quarterbacks to be honest, so I doubt either team makes that trade.

Dude was a solid HC before getting personnel control, but he's the exact type of maniac Jacksonville should be desperate to avoid. Rumor has to be BS.

It wouldn't surprise me if the team doctor cleared Brown to play and Arians got upset with him because he didn't want to play.  I don't think that explains why he stripped off his uniform on the field.

You referenced a different thread?

Either way, I don't really care. My original question was for the "Elite Passer" crowd....who do you want?

The fact that I got hardly no realistic answers is the whole point.

Hurts in 2022 makes perfect sense. See how much he CAN grow.

Decide from there.

That article was posted before week 15 was played.

It still looks more credible than those ESPN numbers.

Problem with the ESPN methodology is that it only takes into account 2.5 seconds, and ignores what's happening in the play, I'd like to see more details how they actually determine those numbers, because I'm not sure I believe the Bengals, for example, have a horrid pass blocking OL.

Why don't you believe that? I've seen a few Bengals games, and their o-line isn't all that good, honestly.

Ok, now you.  Name the "Elite Passer Crowd"....and stop with the "who do you want" BS.  Everyone acknowledges that the options are extremely limited.  You got no realistic answers to a question you already knew there wouldn't be any realistic answers.  Because the topics of this weak QB draft and limited other QB options has been driven into the ground.

You say you "really don' care".  Yet you tried to argue me that there hasn't been "Hurts is the guy" posters in here and also quoted "I know" when one of the Hurts posters backtracked.  So you clearly care.  At least you did up until this point.

So one last time.  Who is the "elite QB crowd".

ME.

My sense is that Dean is a lot like Roquan Smith was when he came out of Georgia to the NFL in the 2018 Draft.  How did that work out for the Chicago bears?

Roquan is two inches taller and weighs 232 lbs

Even if Dean can gain weight he's not going to get taller as he's under 6 ft

you are confusing gender identity with sexual orientation. They are two different things and this does make it complicated because of the permutations it creates. I'd recommend the book, The Savvy Ally if you are genuinely interested.

I'm not, my wife is a clinical psychologist and as such occasionally has clients working through similar situations, if I'm confused about what's what which is often I tend to ask her and shell explain the differences to me.

Thanks for looking out though👍

*if theres proof of Bruce texting him that week about his hurt ankly

*text from him and the GM

*X Rays / actually needed surgery

Tampa bay could be in trouble. These are all things that AB says he has(i dont believe him) BUT, if it's true, Tampa will be in trouble, AB has a legit case and He'll find work again next year.

I don't think he needs any documentation to have a grievance for being cut when he was injured.  The team wouldn't be in trouble for pressuring him to play with an injured ankle.  I don't think Arians would have an issue for yelling at him on the sideline about not playing.  I think the only determination is whether he sustained an injury that keeps him from playing.  The CBA provides that the player and club have to use a neutral physician to make an evaluation and report.  I think the arbitrator's decision on whether he was released when injured will take into account that neutral physician but I would have to think the MRI and surgery recommendation are real.

I may be wrong, overall I think most want an upgrade at the Position, most would want an elite QB, the problem is availability.  So the main point, most see Hurts as a below avg QB with little chance of becoming a really good QB.
