My guess....Sirianni wants the new guys to appreciate that this is their house before the home opener.

Maybe a little campy, but if it provides a sliver of additional motivation/inspiration, then it's a smart move.

Familiarity.  Not a bad thing.  Get used to the locker room, get used to the parking lot.  get used to the surroundings.   Since they didn't play in preseason might as well practice there.

I've got to hand it to you.  Every single take you have on this blog is horrendous.  You're very consistent at least.

Thanks hpenis. Dynamite drop in by the way!

Meh...it was more than just missing the RT.

They over achieved the first 3 games then came down to reality the rest of the year.

Wouldn't surprise me if this team does the same.

It all plays a roll.  But, you are aware of the Eagles' record when Johnson played all snaps in a game, right.  Correlation doesn't mean causation, but it does hint at a connection.

This team very well may follow that trajectory as the film gets out on them.  We'll see.  I had them at 5 wins before the season.  I recalculated... now it's 6.

Idk, I feel like it might just screw up the field conditions a bit that already have to deal with **** Temple using the field for a game on Saturday.

This 3 game stretch will tell alot about the team.  SF, Dallas and KC are all tough games.  It's pretty certain they will lose to KC.  Hopefully they split SF-Dallas and at least play well vs the Chiefs.

The bonus predictions are less exciting than last week's. Including mine. I gotta up my game next week.

Two big ifs, to be sure, but this roster is a competitive one if Hurts offers solid QB play and Sirianni and Gannon are the real deal.

Completely agree. The way I look at it is... If they can stay healthy then they have top 10 rated lines. They have play makers on offense and they have some pieces on defense in the back field. That makes them a threat if they can get decent QB play and the coaches are what we hope. Sure they are big ifs but they do have some really good players.

Those were such major unknowns going into the year — and still are — but it really made it difficult to project how the season would go. Sunday was a promising start, even if it was against Atlanta.

Absolutely... if the QB is not the guy... or the HC (default OC) and DC aren't the guys... then that's almost impossible to overcome.

Even if they have holes elsewhere, those are 3 really big holes that you have to fill.

So… uhh… I’ll just leave it at that.

I can't see this team spend a first round pick on a Linebacker or Safety.  It just doesn't align with their perceptions of value.

I would anticipate 2 linemen and a CB.

Assuming Hurts pans out, I’m betting at least one of those picks gets converted into a 2022 2nd and 2023 1st rounder.

See we don't know if that's true either.

Makes me laugh hearing people make assumptions about teams after 1 game.

Remember Wentz rookie year?  Didn't we start out 3-0, had a nice win vs a good Steelers team.  Then they struggled the rest of the year.

What you see from most teams week 1 won't be the same the rest of the way.  I don't think Atlanta is a bottom 3 team and I still think the Eagles wil win around 6, 7 games.

Isn't that being done with Hurts and his great game against Falcons? It goes both sides

It's only week 2, still have plenty of time.

The 2016 team cratered b/c Wentz cratered, 7-1 TD/Int his first four games, 9-13 the rest of the way. Y/A also cratered. Some of that was the Lane suspension, but 7 sacks the first 4 games, 26 the last 12, so it wasn't like the OL collapsed. But the real problem was probably teams realizing there were only two legitimate receiving targets, Ertz and Matthews. Sproles, Burton, Agholor and DGB were not going to beat you.

Which is why there was talk of firing Reich, on the one hand Peddy had fixed a toxic clubhouse under Kelly, on the other, the young QB had clearly regressed. Wentz wasn't that young, turned 24 in December of that season and had come out of a pro style college offense, even at a lower level. So it's not surprising the FO was frustrated.

I don't think we'll see that repeated, the skill players are far superior, the OL is deeper, while they had Peters, Kelce and Brooks, Barbre at LG and Vaitai having to start 6 games at RT wasn't ideal. Wisniewski, Seumalo (R) and Tobin were the other OL.

@LeanMeanGM bold prediction: next week we have a long discussion about who has the best fast food burger and who has the worse fries

Jerry Jones is a masochist.

Not surprised.

I am still amazed to see the Andy Reid coaching tree.  Here is his staff in his first season (1999).

Rod Dowhower (OC)
Jim Johnson (DC)
Juan Castillo (OL)
Brad Childress (QB)
David Culley (WR)
Leslie Frazier (DB)
John Harbaugh (ST)
Ron Rivera (LB)
Pat Shurmur (TE)
Steve Spagnuolo (Quality Control)
Sean McDermott (Scouting Coordinator)

Out of eleven guys, EIGHT went on to become Head Coaches.  None of whom were the coordinators.  You can criticize some of their failures as HC, but to get there is still an accomplishment.

Oh....this list doesn't include Pederson and Nagy, who arrived later.

Edited to include Culley
