I remember being infuriated watching this play live, even without a view of Watkins.  This was one of his first throws of the day and I remember thinking "where's he going?? The pocket is fine!"  Then he makes a terrible off-platform throw across his body rolling left that gets batted by the defense.

It was pretty apparent from that moment it was going to be a long day.

Yep.  Same on the play he threw the pick when targeting Smith, clean pocket, climb and throw.  Instead he rolls into pressure and has to elevate the ball over the DE and overthrows it.

"He's basically a rookie".

"He deserves next year to develop, he's only played in (fill in the blank) games in the NFL".

Eagles Twitter and social media out full force in blaming everything and everyone else for hurts being bad yesterday and he is still young at 23. its basically gone full circle. reverted back to what a lot of people did with wentz when he deserved the criticism when he played poorly but made excuses instead of holding him more accountable. And along with the others accountable for their shortcomings.

Here come the excuses

This is false. Ex: Bryce Young clearly wins in the pocket. Jurkovec is the prototype athletic passer, etc.

Bryce Young has been terrific at Alabama.  I just don't see him making it in the NFL with his size.  I've posted my concerns about him before but I really would want nothing to do with him.  He's not built like Kyler Murray or Russell Wilson.  He has the same body type that DeVonta Smith has.  He's listed a 6' 194.  That tells me he's 5-10 or 5-11 and probably in the 185 range. Even Drew Brees was 6' 210.  The only NFL quarterback I can think of in that size range was Doug Flutie.

Yeah but he’s built differently

How many touchdowns did we have called back because our WRs had no idea how to pick or block on screens?

If they find THE guy, like if they think the Pickett is the guy, I don't care what they trade to get him.  If that guy isn't there, then they have to hedge and keep looking.  It's a **** spot but it is where they are.

This is where I'm at.

If you can find an upgrade over Hurts, without crushing our cap/draft picks, do it.
If we can't, we roll with Hurts in 2022 and see if 2023 is the year.

The worst thing we can do is force a bad QB decision. Look at the Jets, Giants, Broncos, etc. They've done this for years and are stuck.

Yup, there were several plays early on where he was bailing out of a perfectly fine pocket.

You could put together 4 hours or so of plays like this from the season.

What do you think he’d cost, and is that worth it for a stopgap?

You're not bringing in Carr or Garappolo as a stopgap; a contract extension would be part of the deal, and that QB would be the Eagles starting QB for the next 3-4 years.

Not inspiring, I get it.  But the price on Carr or Garappolo would be ONE 2022 1st, a 2023 2nd, and a player.  Obviously SF would not take Hurts; LV might.  HOU might.

I don't buy into the narrative that it's an 'elite' or 'franchise' QB, or it's Hurts -- there is a huge gap in the middle.  Hurts was a 3rd round prospect who is not a bonafide NFL starting QB, and never will be IMO.

Talk about a bandwagon fan....

The delusions the people have about the state of this team to think trading for Carr makes them contenders.

The team would have a better chance with a QB under center.

Do not want Carr or Jimmy G.  If Pickett falls, draft him, and bring in a FA to compete.  Competition between Pickett, Minshew and ( insert FA QB here )

Can we come up with some vet players and pick combo?

Can they include Fletcher Cox?  Hurts or Minshew should be part of the package.  Does Slay (I realize he was great this year) have a tradeable contract? What about Miles Sanders or Javon Hargrave?

None of those players are long term solutions on this team.  If they can bring in a bridge QB I'm all for it.

I also realize it's the NFL and not Madden so none of my suggestions would actually happen.

Yeah,  it was maddening.  Even if he doesn't throw to Watkins if he could throw with any anticipation (he can't at all!) he could of also taken one step forward in the pocket and hit Smith coming out of his break.

Exactly. Makes no sense to acquire him with the thought that he’s a stopgap.

And I’m against Jimmy G in all realistic circumstances. He’s not good enough and will cost too much. There’s no point to it IMO.

I don't think people are suggesting that Carr is the answer at QB here.  However, bringing in Carr would benefit this WR group tremendously.  They need a QB who can get them the ball and Hurts isn't it.  If you're OK with Smith being targeted less than 1/3 of the tight ends in the NFL and the rest of the WR group being non-existent then sure, keep Hurts and run him all day long.

TFWIW But Charles robinson was asked about Watson’s ntc and wouldn’t waive it for the eagles. His response was the landscape has changed (since then)

Right... landscape has definitely changed for Watson.  It looks like Miami may roll with Tua given what he had shown through the end of the year.  Also multiple QBs now could be available.  Watson may change his mind on where he is demanding to go, if there is a viable team that wants to commit to him... his price has to have come down as well.  A lot would have to happen including settlement of the legal issues, but I think it remains a possibility, and a greater one than the other QBs rumored to be available.  Not advocating for him, as there are too many unknowns right now, but it would obviously give them a legit QB if it happened.

Say what you want about Carr, but he did get Hunter Renfrow to 103 catches, 1000 yards and 9 TD's

imo cousins, Jimmy g and Derek carr are all good enough to get you stuck in purgatory. Which is they don’t play at a consistently high level against the upper echelon teams in the league to win a title and they’re not bad enough so that you’re so bad that you get a high pick to get the quarterback to truly covet.

How about Love from GB?

Seems likely that Rodgers isn’t leaving, but I’m sure he will want them to trade Love and remove that distraction.

Plus, he’s still on his rookie deal.
