I’d bet the colts are 5-5 or 4-6 heading into the two game stretch against the bills and Bucs. After tonight against Baltimore, they play houston, at niners, jets, titans and jags. I see them at worse going 3-2 during that stretch making them 4-6. If they are 5-5 and lose both games to the bills and Bucs to be 5-7, their schedule to end the year isn’t all that hard. It’s houston, NE, Arizona, Vegas and jag. They could finish 9-8 or 8-9. Not sure that gets them into the playoffs but win a 7 seed now more reason they would play it out

Titans could end up with 7 losses so it could be close.

Colts are not benching Wentz unless he’s injured. If he gets benched then he’s not their QB next year.

He's always injured. They have an out.

They will get some wins. Don't want them to get too many and fool around and make the playoffs.

I'd rather gamble for a top 10 pick and hope they don't bench Wentz. Always shoot for the highest upside scenario.

yeah they got the jags and texans twice each plus the jets and pats , that should get the eagles a round 1 pick

People loooove their moral high ground. Every single one of us have said something insensitive in our lives. We're allowed to make mistakes.

Sports media are some of the most sanctimonious people out there. Never really understood why almost all of them have this mob mentality where they all think the same.

I found it weird at the time that the Niners weren't even considering Justin Fields with their pick. They narrowed it down to Mac Jones and Lance. A steady QB with little upside and a super raw QB with high upside.

I wasn't even a big Fields guy, but I'd have taken him over either of them. And he wasn't even in their consideration.

Obviously, it's very early, but just based on early returns, Niners might've goofed on that one.

I don't see why so many people missed it with him.

6'6" with a hyper elite arm, great athleticism, won the academic heisman (Campbell Trophy), Rose Bowl MVP...his statistics weren't up in the stratosphere of Burrow and Tua, but he wasn't throwing to a single drafted player.  Burrow and Tua had, what, 7 combined first round picks catching their passes?

He's been fun to watch. I think Chargers struck gold with him

Burrow had an all time college season. It’s why he went no. 1. Like burrow isn’t a bad QB. He’s actually been really good this year. Frankly if the bengals could make field goals they are 4-1 and beat the packers. He’s not been the bengals issues.

herbert compared to burrow walked into a much better situation. The chargers have always had talent. Their coaching has been god awful and injuries to their defense the past two years.

he was also playing in the pac 12 and not the SEC. If herbert played in the SEC and put up his numbers i think you’d have had a lot more believers in him coming out. I thought he had a chance to be good. I didn’t think he’d be this elite especially not this fast.

This.

The contingency is for a Wentz injury, not team ineptitude.  It would be bad faith to sit a healthy Wentz.

I disagree. If they're in top 10 pick territory with him still under the 75% threshold, they'll bench him. They'll dress it up as a mystery injury and they'll have the conversation with him that this is about the pick, conserving him for next season, and not to do with his future with the team.

Hard to argue Burrow.  Tua was just a stupid pick.

I disliked tua before his hip injury. So i agree. I didn’t see it with him. I thought he was the most likely to just be a complete bust. He is on track to be that and injury prone. The dolphins shouldn’t have taken him if they weren’t in love with him. Which by all accounts they really haven’t been since the start of last year.

Sirianni deserves some credit for ripping into Gannon and getting him to make some changes. Letting Slay travel and working in more stunts was greatly needed.

That and the opposing QB.

Expect a bit of a reversion this week.

After Thursday, Herbert and Dak (if Dallas has something to play for week 18) are the only two QBs that concern me.  Gannon should be more multiple/aggressive for the remainder of the season.

It's called context.

I can hold the coaches responsible for presnap stuff like 12-men, delay of game, false starts due to poor communication.  For not teaching WRs to stay in bounds or run a rub route.

I can hold players responsible for facemasks, unnecessary roughness, encroachment, DPI, etc.  I can hold players responsible for not understanding the same basic stuff that they were taught by ALL THEIR COACHES BEFORE THEY GOT HERE

Absolutely pathetic.  No other word for it other than pathetic.

The end of your posts acknowledges that this is something that coaches teach the players.  Yet for some reason Sirianni and his staff are not responsible for this.  Especially after Sanders did it the first time they should have been on his ass about it but instead they kept him in the game, didn't say anything and he did it again.  That is on Sirianni and his staff.  When a player Fs up you need to immediately hold them accountable, especially when you are at the end of a close game trying to seal it.  Not just sit there, not say anything and leave the player in the game to make the same mistake a second time.

Well, we know that Reagor is no JJAW.

Rip him all you want but he was a willing and excellent blocker. Not what you draft a WR for, but he has done what he can. Not his fault where he was drafted or who coached him.

He's back!

The Gruden email story is really starting to bother me. Reporters seem pretty incessant about getting him suspended and stoking outrage. Were they insensitive and cruel? Sure. They happened 10 years ago.

Someone saw those emails back then and found them gross and either showed or told someone else about them. There is no way in hell the league didn't know about it then as well as NFL insiders who are constantly talking to people. Yet no one exposed it then.

Now because of the events over the last year where society has become super racially aware and I'll argue too much so, people who likely knew about these emails back in 2011 are going in on the "he needs to be punished" takes so for clout. It's Fing embarrassing.

Unless it's an actual crime and a serious one, I find punishing people for crap they did a freaking decade ago so damn sad. It comes off as petty, vindictive, and frankly a total lack of awareness or understanding of how humans work. They have no idea how much Jon Gruden has changed as a person during that time period. But at the end of the day, if you want someone punished for crap that isn't a crime, then Fing find out about it or expose it when it actually happens. Otherwise, take the Fing L and stop acting like goddamn children.

Sweet jesus

Keep in mind, here we are on Columbus Day in 2021, judging a mans actions in 1492 based on today's societal rules.  Somehow, these impossible perfect standards that NO ONE can live up to have been set and if you ever did anything wrong, then DAMN you and let's make sure to ruin your life.

Case in point, the girl who was dancing on Urban Myer.  Brought it up a few days ago.  There are internet sleuths out there trying to get her fired for doing what many young women do when they are out at a bar.

Jon Gruden should go back and find the first person who called him Chuckie and started to make fun of his appearance compared to a killer doll and try to get them in trouble.  Isn't that all Gruden did?  Make a joke about Smith's appearance?

Imagine an email about Gruden...This red haired MFer looks like the Chuckie doll.  If people saw that would they lose their minds?

Yep.  But he did the same thing on the awful Ertz throw which was a pic. My word.

My panthers friend who i was watching the game with looked at me and said what a terrible throw. I responded with darnold has matched him so far this game. We got a QB duel.

I don't follow college, but that's pretty cool. It's not often you get to see a family's reaction after a game winning moment. I think the last time I recall was Elliott's parents after his 61 yarder.

You think a team is going to just be okay with that? You’re talking about sitting your best QB for 3-4 games that will impact the future for a lot of guys on the roster. Your talking players with stat incentives, bubble players, vets who want to win. That’s how you lose a locker room.
