I fell for the media BS for two weeks and thought he was a good guy until the truth came out. Unlike you all I stopped falling for it. I really think this is less about whether Z is a good guy or not, and more about Ukraine having the right to defend itself, and not accept a bad deal from Trump who is very pro Russia in "negotiations". Its been completely 1 sided so far. There is no neutral party brokering this deal. Im hoping for some country to step up and do that. But at this point, Putin will be very emboldened by his support from the USA so I guess a neutral mediator will not get anywhere.

The issue is pretty simple -- if you wanted to negotiate a fair deal to end the hostilities, the correct play was to come out and say the United States will drastically increase its support of Ukraine. Then use that leverage to work out a deal with Russia that ends the fighting and guarantees the long term security of Ukraine. Unfortunately, Donald Trump is a complete moron who is either knowingly or unknowingly doing the bidding of Putin (I don't believe he is a Russian agent, but a useful idiot who likes Putin because he admires strongmen and people who say nice things about him). But basically, Trump is either (i) doing Putin's bidding knowingly as an asset or (ii) just an imbecile who has no functional clue how to negotiate a deal (to be fair, those aren't mutually exclusive). The absolute DUMBEST thing we could do is what we are doing -- signaling an end to support for Ukraine and basically saying we want peace at any cost. So of course Putin is playing hardball. It's like watching Homer Simpson lead international negotiations.

I've been looking at this for 4 days trying to figure what a "but grape" is. Is the end of a Cesar Chavez sentence ordering jelly at IHOP? "I'll take any flavour but grape." Or did somebody give this poor bloke a wedgie?

March 25Mar 25 Just checking, has the war ended yet? Trump said it would happen on Day 1. He said it would be easy to solve with one conversation. It's been 64 days and the killing continues.

March 25Mar 25 I like how Zelensky is referring to Russia as the war team when he speaks about the meetings between US, Ukraine, and Russia.

Neutralize the power and bring both sides to the negotiating table. Now that Putin has Trump in his favor, he won't stop until Russia gets more than he bargained for from the start. Putin can take all he can get and more.

Well, yeah, electing the imbecile who admires Putin was never going to help. But Trump is wildly unpredictable, and that can be an asset. Call the bluff? The current situation is ideal for us. We have Russia bogged down and its military is collapsing, we are sending old equipment to Ukraine and replacing it, and not a single American soldier is at risk. The status quo is a win for the US.

The status quo is a win for the US. I don't agree that the status quo in perpetuity is a win for the US. I thought that type of brinkmanship mentality is what you all feared about Trump. It's been years, it's time to wind things down and let the world move on. Trump is poised to make this a long term win for the US by taking over the energy sector, which is true strategic partnership with Ukraine. It would also be nice if Ukraine could have some military aged men leftover when this is done.

It should be quite clear that the Putin regime does not want a complete ceasefire. Just for the partial ceasefire agreements they still wanted concessions. They haven’t budged on bit and are asking for more. The hope is that Trump finally sees that he is being played, looks more stupid by the minute and actually gets angry at Putin. Maybe he wants the Nobel Prize more than the friendship with Putin. The Putin Regime will not stop with Ukraine if they are given the keys to the place.

I think you mean MSDNC… Look, you and I may disagree on supporting Ukraine and that’s fine. I live here in Europe and the local nationals don’t watch MSNBC fear porn. Why are all the Baltic States worried about getting attacked in the future? Why is Poland uneasy as well? They’re all incompetent and have nothing to fear? You might believe it is not the fight the US should have, but to call the further aggression of Russia a ridiculous scenario is well… ridiculous!
