They would be, but not to the extent they are toast now. They haven’t done a full blown mobilization. That would change the scale of the gains. In Ukraine neither side has mobilized to the extent that they could.
April 2, 20251 yr Historically Russia is also willing to do some truly heinous crap to win or even just draw out battles. No they're not winning in a straight up war with Europe but my understanding is that it would probably be a meat grinder.

They don’t care about their own troops and how many they lose. They wage war in sheer strength of numbers, in both men and equipment.

In WW2 they did assaults in groups of three. First guy had the rifle, second guy extra ammo and the third guy a knife & a Handkerchief. First guy got mowed down, second guy picked up the rifle, stepped over his fallen comrade and ran forward with the knife grunt in pursuit. Usually the third guy ended up with all the marbles and a couple of rounds in his chest as he ran into his sure death. They did that over and over again until the Germans had nothing left.🤷♂️
