It’s probably fair to say that they have suffered immense loses of soldiers and equipment. They’ve just had one of the biggest conscriptions by calling up 160,000 people. Prisons have been emptied and foreign mercenaries are probably not increasing in huge numbers either.

Problem is that Ukraine is suffering big losses as well and they don’t have the resources to reinforce like the Russians can. Loss of life means absolutely nothing to Putin’s regime, so they will keep fighting until they succeed or basically run out of troops / weapons, which doesn’t seem likely.

A minerals deal is fine as part of an overall peace plan that includes military security agreements. On its own it isn't an acceptable solution.

The point both Frankfurt and I are making is that the only part Trump cares about are the minerals. He doesn't give a crap about Ukraine, Europe, US world leadership, stopping Putin, etc.
