Had a nice year last year as a rotational guy. Don't know why you wouldn't like him, he has a lot of potential.

At DT is what I meant. I like him more at DE. May be the minority here.

You do realize it isn't 2018, right. Cox is a good but not great player at this point.

Didn't say he was. But if they really want him back and lose him because they had to get cute isn't a good look.

Cox is still good, but my guess is the Eagles went into this new deal thinking they'd either keep an elite Cox at a market rate or cut a declining Cox and try to negotiate a more reasonable deal. I think he ultimately goes elsewhere.

If this move, as reported, creates $16 million in cap space in 2022 and $15 million in dead money in 2023, then they're basically out of the contract scot-free. I just don't see the incentive for the Eagles to re-sign Cox or for him to re-sign here.

Yep, he's gone and it's not the end of the world like a few people are making it out to be. He's not even a great player anymore, let alone dominant like he once was and his contract indicated.

Completely disagree. They either don't want him back and are fine with losing him, or they did this with Cox's knowledge and will work something out.

Eagles can spend a ton of cash now and not reserve any for the draft class. Maybe they will make a splash move.

I don't want Cox back. Yeah he is a great part of Eagles history, helped us win a Superbowl, etc. But he hasn't really done much the last two years and i wouldn't pay him more than 5 mil to return on a 1 year deal which he won't take.

The only thing harder to figure out than Fletcher Cox's restructured contract is why some of you folks want him back.  Declining is an understatement, openly critical of the coaching staff, and less than stellar effort.

Let the man get paid elsewhere.

Just in time for all high ticket FA to be gone for the most part.

But Watson on the other hand 😎

Agreed

Slowly but surely cutting loose of cap killing contracts. How does Lurie feel about Howie spending $60 million of his money with no return?  Rewards him with a new contract.

With a legitimated retort.  Not a childish little dig.  🤣

Sure whatever makes you feel better.

I made a legitimate post and per usual you resorted to childish banter, more than once and continue to do so then have the audacity to accuse me of that which you are guilty of, not to mention you calling me obsessed when you replied to me first.

Get bent your games are tiresome, I read it on Twitter.

Yup, Lurie has a huge blind spot when it comes to Howie, always has☹️

I mean. There’s a price where I take him back. But I am sure someone else will pay him a lot more than that.

So did every Eagle fan in here when the Gannon's defense just let the team get to the redzone

Didn’t watch A&M much and have heard you bring him up before. You a fan?

Would be terrific at the 4i position and can rush the passer out of a 3-tech.

I don't think this happens if Cox didn't want to possibly go to another team.

Yup.   And no need to do it now, specifically.   I think he's gone, and did this because they couldn't make a trade work.

I love Fletcher Cox, but it's time to move on. He's not elite anymore and we're no longer in our window. Let him walk and save the money.
I just wish we could have gotten some draft picks for him.

I wonder how much Ioannidis would cost on a 2 year deal.

The fans can do what they like.  Cox gets paid by the Eagles to put on a uniform -- and uniform means everyone rows in the same direction (at least publicly).

His guarantee kicked in tomorrow. It was now or never

OBJzzzzz

One thing about Fletcher Cox was always interesting to me. Despite being the best player on the team for a long time, it took a while for him to be named captain. He's a great Eagle, easily one of their 2 or 3 best draft picks of the new millennium, but he's not Brandon Graham/Jason Kelce where it feels like some of the heart and soul of the team has gone.

This is not a criticism, but Fletcher is a "weird" dude. A guy people like, but not a natural leader.

Agree to disagree. He felt he was used improperly and his stats definitely took a decline

If he goes somewhere else and does well then we should expect fans to question Gannon even more
