I would hope a 4 year starter would have more passing yards per game.  But that would be the only thing Baker out performed Hurts on last year.  Yards per game (passing + rushing) isn't even close.  Total TDs isn't even close.  Hurts has the higher completion percentage, QB rating, yards per attempt, AY/A, NY/A, ANY/A and has avoided sacks a hell of a lot less than Baker.  Not to mention the interceptions.  Besides Baker's 3rd season, he has been an interception machine of bad decisions his entire career.

 

Neither of them are great but one is better.  One of them is a one read QB with no arm who can run.  The other has an NFL arm but will turn it over.  I prefer for the young wide receivers to have a chance to get better because he can actually throw all the routes.

Denver mainly, but Allbright is very plugged in with rest of NFL. His track record is good

He's a young QB that showed consistent improvement throughout college and now throughout his professional career and helped get this team to the playoffs in his first season as a starter.  I'm quite okay to see seeing what kind of leap he can make in year three.  

 

Baker Mayfield is trash though.  He is someone who throughout his career has made continued costly stupid decisions on the football field.  He also clearly has an ego that won't let him handle the business side of professional football.  He doesn't offer an improvement at QB.  He is not someone that you would want to invest your franchise in with a large contract.

Let’s not get carried away here. This was an anti-Baker argument, not pro-Hurts. Hurts has shown negligible improvement throughout his career, specifically his accuracy, reads, and decision making.
