Roob has been the #1 Hurts fan boy for 2 years now. I like a lot of his stuff, but his fawning over Hurts is insufferable.

I think he does it because the other side of the coin is completely relentless with their hatred of Hurts.

Both sides are insufferable if you ask me.

I actually think he does it as a massive overcorrection to his negative coverage of McNabb. Feels like a lot of the Philly media does that.

Been saying it for months. Pickett was Howie's ultimate goal since mid season after Hurts threw up all over the field in the first half of the season. No shocker after we changed the game plan to majority running base and Howie all of a sudden was booking flights to follow Pickett around in person to watch his games. Then all of a sudden it known Pickett is an Eagles fan and hes then on the sidelines of the Eagles vs Saints game in Philly. I was not surprised then and won;t be surprised next month if Pickett is our first round selection, even if Howie has to move up to get him.

Do I agree with going in on Pickett? Yes if we dont have to move up much to get him only giving up a mid round pick. No if we have to go all in and trade a lot of capital for him.

Rule 1 of workouts - if you have a strong 1st rd position, go to every viable QB workout. Because you want other teams to think you might be interested, whether you are or not.

Rule 2 - believe nothing on the internet leading into the draft.

Barnett is still out there in FA, if his price drops won't be surprised if he returns on a short-term deal. At $6-8M he'd be fine in a DE rotation.

I can get behind that thought process. Makes sense to me.

Even with that said both camps suck.

Nice haul. I doubt Jordan is there at 16 or Johnson at 23, but if they are that's great value. You know I'm not a huge Strong guy, but I'll be excited with any day 1/2 QB being added.

Hurts is also, by all accounts I've seen, a really likable guy. And no just in a McNabb "always smiling" kinda way. His teammates and coaches always seems effusive of his personality and work ethic. The guy doesn't talk a bunch of trash or try to try for a ton of spotlight. Always talks about the team instead of himself. Seems to be good with the fans especially the kids.  I'm not totally surprised the reporters around him are pulling punches.

It's a real shame he isn't better at throwing footballs. I like the guy, even if I can recognize that he's not gonna be the answer.

Problem there is there's no chance Walker is available at 15 or Wyatt at 32. Did a lot of wheeling and dealing here, but may be one of my faves:

That simulation was rare that Walker fell to 15.  Agree that in the real draft he probably goes top 10.  Wyatt I usually see him as a 2nd Round guy on mock sites.  If not him then Winfrey would be the pick for a DT followed by Jones.  Davis may be gone before 15 so I hope we get one of those other 3 players.

Howie does like to move around the board and I agree with your previous statement that the meat of the draft is from 30 to about 80.  Figures that a draft where we get THREE 1st Round picks all before #20 and there's not enough truly elite talent to fall that far to us and from there on many of the prospects are more similar in talent/value than they are different.  Even if we do find a partner to trade back and acquire more picks in that draft sweet spot then I can see Howie trading some of the later picks to move up a few/handful of spots with the earlier picks to get their guy.  I'd be surprised if we come away with more than 10 players from this draft.

The interesting part is why Watson was so steadfast in his refusal to come to Philadelphia from start to finish in this entire saga. The principles aren't going on record anytime soon but the strongly held belief around the league is that Watson's aversion to the Eagles had to do with his loyalty to Jalen Hurts.

Sources familiar with Watson's sentiments pointed to the relationship built between the two players in the offseason through the connection of working with the same QB trainer, Quincy Avery.

The old adage that it’s "show business” and not "show friends” would have only applied if Watson didn't have any other suitors because he simply didn't want to take an opportunity away from Hurts.

This is the 2nd source that has reported that Watson's friendship with Hurts was the reason he said no to Philly.

Reub posted his 10 Observations and # 1 was about Hurts Haters and how they make no sense.  Look at the line he wrote below.  That alone should tell you he's not the answer at quarterback.  Is that how you describe a franchise QB?

Jalen Hurts will be in the NFL a long time in some role.

I think you misunderstood the point of the article. He wasn't saying that Hurts is definitely the answer at qb. He was saying that while no one can be sure what his ceiling will be, his floor is pretty clear, namely that he will likely be in the NFL for roughly the next decade, whether as a starter or a backup.

He wasn't saying Hurts is a franchise qb. In fact, he explicitly said he doesn't know how good he will be. He was simply saying that people who think Hurts has no future in the NFL are delusional.

Well, I don't want either of them as the Eagles QB, so one down and one to go.

You’re amazing.  You try to speak something into existence (Hurts) and then try to speak something else out of existence.  And are wrong on both.  Go ish in one hand and hope in the other.  Then fling it onto a wall.  Rinse and repeat.

Not Directed at you. particularly at the wide receiver position if we are 29th in the league in passing attempts, you’re gonna be the third option behind Smith and Dallas goedert and the money is equal somewhere else that passes the ball more would you chose to come here? Let’s be realistic if Jarvis Landry was getting similar money from the browns, is actually the no. 2 option (cooper 1) and has a watson at QB now he’s gonna chose cleveland. Again juju went to the chiefs. Hypothetically even if the eagles offered him the same amount of money, he’s going to be 3rd option in the passing game here or in KC and playing with mahomes/reid, he’s gonna choose the chiefs over the eagles. This isn’t rocket science. It’s common sense.

You know what’s insufferable?  Those who claim that some people "hate” a player because we recognize he’s not good enough and choose not to bend the knee because of some tweets and other posters calling him QB1.  Hurts isn’t hated.  Just the projecting of Hurts is what some of us hate.

I hate Howie and the direction of this team.  I don’t hate any players

Your point?

Kind of weird to vehemently defend a position while also implying that it is not your position.

It is tiring of seeing every other post from people that say 'He can't throw' or 'He is the worst QB in the league' or 'Howie is going after X-QB because he knows Hurts sucks' - that is just as tiring as people bringing up obscure stats to defend Hurts or saying that he is great because he brought them to the playoffs.

Both sides suck.

It's always cute how the people who can't post anything but overly negative things about Hurts then try to claim they don't hate him.

Wyatt I see going between 18-32 based on his own merits and on Georgia being a trendy pick this year with winning the national championship. I agree there is some good 2nd round DT talent if they don't get him or Davis. I like Winfrey, Hall and Jones as well. And I agree, I think Howie is gonna be wheeling and dealing plenty on draft night.

I don't hate him as a person. In fact, I think he's a great dude from what we see publicly and hear about from teammates, coaches, etc. I do hate him as my QB1. I would love him as my QB2.

Correct.  It takes sites like OTC and spotrac a while to catch up with free agency.  But now that the new league year has started, you have to always be top 51 cap compliant.

Which is also different than what the team will ultimately spend.  For the full cap, that includes the full 53 man roster, PS, etc.  The Top 51 is only until the regular season starts.

I blame society for that....disagree with the opposition and it instantly means you hate them or have a phobia of some sort.  Too many examples to list.

The starting QB position will always be heavily discussed; I think that's true for at least 24 of the 32 NFL teams.  I never go on the Turds fan forums (if they have one), but you can bet there would have been 100s of pages debating whether to pay Dak a mega contract or get rid of him and draft another QB.  It's the most important position on any NFL team, and the Eagles current QB has not yet shown he warrants the position long term.

The Eagles will be involved in the draft evaluation process for the next 6-6 weeks.  Whether that means they will draft one is anybody's guess.

Can't say it enough -- Hurts was drafted to be a potential Folesian savior of a deep playoff run. He was not drafted to be a franchise QB (and yes a 2nd was too rich).

Funny thing about Nick.  He could pass the ball.   Jalen?  More of a runner.   Nothing 'Folesian' about that.

Walker is a top 7 pick now

Nice addition for Josh Allen. Underrated receiver out of the backfield.
