So we paid $14M for a run stopper?

It was a tribute contract. He’s playing on a one year contract expecting a big year to get one final 3-4 year deal.

Anybody in the Blog have experience with LASIK? I'm booked for the procedure for early April (no screen time for 24 hours after, what am I gonna do?!). Everybody I've talked to said it's one of the best decisions they've ever made. In the virtual consult, they said they've fixed the issue with night vision and seeing halos, anybody in here have any issues with it?

My advice to you is to watch Final Destination 5 the night before your surgery.  Good luck!

Yup, 14 mil for a run stopper who doesn't really want to do the dirty work required of a run stopper.

Bad contract for a declining player, Howie again talking out of his face.

Ummm, that's where I talk out of too. If you talk out of a different part of your body that explains the breath. 😁

Take a look at those FA contracts:

Fatuskasi 3 yr/$30M [2yr/$22M] - started one full season for the Jets last year, 3 sacks in 44 games, strictly a run stopper

DJ Jones 3 yr/$30M [2yr/$22M] - started 46 games for SF, 7 sacks, 9 QB hits, 22 TFL in those games

Joseph-Day 3yr/$24M [2yr/$16.5M] - started 38 games for LAR, 6 sacks, 14 QB hits, 9 TFL, injured last season

Cox in 16 starts, 3.5 sacks, 12 QB hits, 7 TFL

At DE, other than Von Miller, there was nothing.

Armstrong, 2yr/$12M started 5 games for Dallas last year, 5 sacks, 12 QB hits, 3 TFL,

Muhammad, 2yr/$8M, first time starter in his 5th season, 6 sacks, 13 QB hits, 7 TFL

Barnett 2 sacks, 11 QB hits, 7 TFL

2 sacks

you forgot 75 penalties

I've got way more issues with Cox's contract than Barnett's. Barnett is making DE3 money which is absolutely fine if that's what he is. My only concern is that this team can't help itself and lets him eat too many snaps.

Giving Cox $14 million with Hargrave/Williams/likely high draft pick on the roster makes zero sense.

He’s still not lasting until 15, though. That’s the only problem.

Good thing Eagles have the draft capital to move up

When looking at DT, my hunch is they will look at the NT types, Davis and Jones.

Eagles are using nearly 20million of cap space on Cox and Barnett this season voluntarily. In addition to the dead space on Cox old deal. Incompetence is Howie’s brand at this point.

I don't think you can just point to dead cap money and not factor in rollover.

Interesting. #15 and the second rounder gets you to Atlanta at 8. Anything 8 and beyond is obviously doable. I was thinking the cost would be a little higher.

As bad as I would like to move up to 8, with the amount of needs, that 2nd I think is too valuable. I would be more willing to give up that 3rd and a 5th. Not sure how far up that gets us, Davis is one guy I covet and if there around 11 or 12 I'd look to try to move up.

And those rookies who start slow @austinfan

Jaelen Phillips - 8 1/2 sacks

Kwitty Paye - 4 sacks

Payton Turner - sack in his first game

Gregory Rousseau - 2 sacks in his second game

Odafe Oweh - 3 sacks in his first 5 games

Joe Tryon - 2 sacks in his first 4 games

Azeez Ojulari - 8 sacks, 1 each in his first 3 games

I mean, I could go on and on and on.  Just another case of

During the regular season I don’t think there should be an OT at all. You deserve a tie if you can’t win in 4 quarters

Wow! It’s fascinating how the market is moving on these three guys.

I agree, it would lead to some interesting decisions at the end of regulation...and the whole player safety thing the league cares so much about.

Just have the Captains meet in the middle of the field and do best 3 out of 5 RPS

I’m thinking any trade up would have to be paired with a corresponding trade down with one of the other first rounders. That way you wouldn’t lose much of anything.

If any of the three of them are there at 15, Howie better have whatever peon he sends to the podium leave flaming Back to the Future like footprint tracks up to it.

Jalen is a big reason why the running game was dominant.

He was certainly part of it, but I don't believe it would have suffered greatly without him. But yes, he does deserve some credit for it.

Jermaine Johnson UNDER 10.5 is a favorite now, too. Factoring in Ojabo’s injury, all of our edge guys are going to be gone by 15.

Walker is going 2nd, isn’t he? +275 at PointsBet.

And you damn well know Hurts dad didn’t spend one gd second trying to coach up his son. All he cared about was wins so he could keep his prestigious job at Channelview High School

I spent time with Houston area HS football as a kid and as a brother in law.  While 5A ball is a bit more sophisticated than sandlot, reading a HS defense isn’t all that hard.  Frankly with all the zone played at college levels, reading a college D, even in Division 1, isn’t the same as reading a NFL defense.  So, there is a bit of accuracy in what AFan pontificates just like there is accuracy in the hardest Hurts critics observations.  Most QBs coming from college play poorly their first year in the NFL.  Sadly, that is true for many players/positions.

That said, there are signs.  Recognizing the receiver is open late and throwing into developing coverage.  Late releases are a foreshadow of slowness in reading.  I don’t have the optimism that AFan has by any stretch.  The odds of Hurts developing NFL level reading of D to me (against/for) is probably 8/1, but that’s on tendencies he has demonstrated to date.

I think this was the only way out of his horrendous contract, if they simply cut him he had massive dead cap hits for two years. This had to be a handshake deal, only way they could get out of his contract.

Something because it's a ridiculous contract.

What has been stunning to me is the utter lack of criticism or apology from the Chris Rock side.  His barb was disgusting.
