Bruh, come on. Run first QBs have never had the same success that pure passers have had in the NFL. You can't attack people for acknowledging something that is a 100 level class understanding...just because you have a man-crush on the guy.

What's wild is that you not only quoted my post but made bold part of my post and then typed up a reply that had nothing at all to do with anything that I said.

Didn’t Wentz basically end his career on a run play? Sure, he came back, but he was never the same.

Well, your post was 90% emotional with not a lot of real substance worth a response.

I never fell into the RTK bashing, but I'm beginning to understand.

I think you might be borderline illiterate.  There is no practical scenario that plays out based in reality where Carson Strong wins the starting job this year or next.  He isn't leapfrogging both Hurts and Minshew this year.  And if Eagles determine that Hurts is not the QB after this season then they are going to make moves to either trade for a QB or draft one in the first of next years draft.  There is no sound reason whatsoever to actually believe that if Hurts is not the guy after this season that the Eagles would instead opt to go with the then 2nd year undrafted FA QB instead of drafting or trading for a QB.

I had to chuckle at the irony.

Considering the starter hasn’t beaten a double team on a 40 plus yard pass…, since maybe high school.

As with all QB’s though, can they do it with pressure and a collapsing pocket, Haskins RIP, could not, Fields hasn’t had enough reps yet to know.  Not to pick on Ohio St and Alabama, but their QB’s are known for not playing well under pressure because they don’t deal with in college.
Belichick last season put Jones behind a very good pass blocking O-line, the other Jones in NY has never had an even decent O-line.

Why not, been a few  UDFA qbs throughout the years make a name for themselves and stick around and win starting jobs

Jeff Garcia, Tony Romo, Kurt Warner.

He didn't go undrafted because of his lack of ability as a QB, he went undrafted be ause he knee may be Swiss cheese, without the knee health questions he has top arm talent And would have been drafted.

I don't expect him to do much this year but hold a clip board and run scout tea or get IRed ,but next year if his knee is right, watch out he could really push for playing time.

Maybe if he is able to make the team, or a team, and stick around in the league long enough for an opportunity to come up like that and he is makes the most of it he can one day start in this league.  An very long shot.  But maybe one day.  There has not however, as far as I know, been a rookie undrafted free agent QB win the starting job.

There are two potential outcomes to this season:

Outcome 1: Hurts takes a big step forward and the Eagles continue to move forward with him at QB.

Outcome 2: The Eagles determine that Hurts is not he QB.  In this scenario they trade for a QB or draft one in the first round of the draft next year.

There is no 3rd scenario there where the Eagles move on from Hurts but instead of trading for a veteran or drafting a top prospect in the draft they instead decided to give a 2nd year undrafted QB a chance on a team that should be fully geared towards contending at that point.

What is it about Jalen Hurts that you so rabidly defend him, and take such offense when someone points out his flaws and (God forbid) suggests he doesn't possess the tools to be a top tier passer in the NFL? I don't get it. You've pinned your saddle so tightly to Hurts that the horse is nearly dead. Why are you so obstinate?

Reverse racism.  Double racist bracket points.

Again, I'm not sure if you're able to properly comprehend what you're reading or not.  I'm not writing anything about Jalen Hurts other than his placement in the scenario where he is the Eagles QB this season and if he isn't for next season then it will be a QB the Eagles trade for or target in the first round of the 2023 draft.

You keep posting these quoted replies to my posts that really have nothing at all to do with the posts you are quoting and replying to.   I don't know if maybe you're just drunk or if you aren't even an actual person I'm responding to and someone has setup an AI bot account here that just responds with crap it has accumulated into its vocabulary based on scanning this board.  Like what the hell are you going on about in several post replies to me now?  What does any of this have to do with the fact that Carson Strong is not going to have a chance to start for this team this year or next.  They have a QB for this season, they even have a backup QB that Strong will not be leap frogging this season and if they move onto a new QB next season then it will be an established veteran or a targeted 1st round QB because this team will be built to contend.

JFC you're deranged. I made a big mistake indulging you.

I won't respond anymore. You win.

Unlike Wentz, Hurts wasn‘t handed anything ever.

Actually, that's not true.  Bradford was the starter and Wentz was going to sit as the #3 behind Bradford and Daniels, but Wentz impressed so much in TC that when they had the chance to unload Bradford for a first round pick... they pulled the trigger and the future was now.

That is contrary to Hurts who got the job when the starter wanted out and he was the next man up.

And we need to stop with the Wentz discussion as it relates to Hurts.  Wentz was part of a magic 2017 run... what happened after it was very unfortunate, but as passers... 2017 far exceeds anything ever seen from Hurts in the pros or college.

And I assure you I am not drunk. Sober since December 2018 thank you very much.

Hurts has no excuses now. An NFL-quality QB with the Eagle's OL and pass catchers should achieve:

4000+ yards passing;

25+ TD's by air; and

10- interceptions.

Think Strong is guaranteed a roster spot as a developmental player regardless of how he looks in camp? Also considering Minshew is a FA after 2022.

If he sucks in camp, then I think he’ll get cut.

If he mildly disappoints, then I think he’ll be on the roster.  Anything better than that, obviously, and he’s on the roster.  I don’t think they have him that much guaranteed money with the intention of cutting him loose.

I think he'll be a lock to make it on the PS. Main focus for him is to get healthy right now and learn

No. He has to at minimum beat out Sinnett

There goes a high pick

One good safety isn’t going to prevent them from possibly being a bottom 10 team

It will mainly come down to whether or not Winston has learned which color jersey to throw to

Just something to think about with Carson Strong:

Apparently 12 teams pursued him as a UDFA.  If you are Strong (and his agent), you are aware that you were described by many as the most talented natural passer in this draft class, with pure arm talent that compares favorably to top QBs in other draft classes.  You’ve got 12 teams coming after you.  I’m not saying that to fluff up Strong right now.  I’m saying that he and his agent probably weren’t making decisions based on getting an extra 20k out of one team versus another.

He chose to come here and it wasn’t the 300k signing bonus.  We can all argue why, but it’s interesting.  Maybe he thinks Hurts sucks and it’s the easiest path to a starting job.  Maybe he really thinks Siri and Brian Johnson will give him the best possible coaching as a young QB.  Minshew is better than most backups, so it’s not technically the easiest path to a #2 job.  What I’d give to be a fly on the wall for what Howie told him about the opportunity he’d get here…

What Strong really thought was "now there’s a fan base that appreciates white QBs”

Didn't we bring him in specifically for Hurts?

How well did Strong do on the SWAG test?

I think Strong came here because we offered him the most guaranteed money. For a guy who might not have more than a cup of coffee in the NFL, that was 100% his deciding factor.
