I will say... they kill the game a little with the amount of commercials, especially the national championship game, etc.   4 hours for one game without overtime is ridiculous!

I watch very few college games real time.  What I do is DVR them and they become like the condensed games on NFL Game Pass.  Actual game watching time is about 45 minutes.  (Well actually a little longer as I tend to rewatch some plays and I hit pause to catch players’ names and/or numbers.

I really think most the younger folks on here don’t remember early Steve Young.  You know, USFL Steve Young (played his first two years as a pro with the LA Express) or Tampa Bay Creamsicle Steve Young.  They don’t even remember the Steve Young that rode the pine behind Steve Montana. Now Young wasn’t a "run first” QB.  But neither is Hurts.

A while back, I was told to watch a great play by Hurts from someone in the Washington game.  It was a 3rd and 14.  Hurts went through his drop, and literally on the last step of his drop, he ducks his head, looks at the rush and tries to find an escape route from the pocket.  The pocket was very clean.  Then he runs forward, escapes to his right and makes a sand lot throw for a conversion, but basically, that play exemplifies a run first QB.  He didn't even give the called play a chance, he made up his mind pre-snap to run out of the pocket and improvise.  That's run first to me.

Not sure he can see over the OLine.

Yes, a contract that starts in 2023.

Here is the current contract.  We will see when the new numbers come in.

It doesn't "start" in 2023 though. It says $4M because that is his rookie contract. It hasn't even been announced what his signing bonus is yet. Once they update with the new contract, the cap number is going to change. Look at DJ Moore. He had a year left on his rookie deal and he signed an extension. His prorated numbers for his signing bonus changed in 2022

I keep coming back to the Saints pick as the most important development for our franchise. If they fall in the top 8, we can easily trade up into the top 3 to get a QB if we want. If they finish say 17th, it'll be tough even if we package our 1st.

2021 Saints were 9-8 last year.

Lost Williams and Jenkins, but got Mathieu & Maye. That's a net loss.
Lost Armstead for Penning. That's a net loss.
Lost Sean Payton. That's a massive loss.
Lost Semien, but got Andy Dalton. That's a big win as backup QB.
Added Chris Olave. Big upgrade for WR #2.
Alvin Kamara is likely getting suspended.

This feels like 7-9/9-7. That means the pick is around 12-15.

7-10/10-7.,  17 games now.  ;)

When is the schedule released?

May 12 if my memory from all of the draft commercials is correct.  Hard to remember much from that horrible presentation of a draft.

I think Wilson and Brees would just take a few extra more steps back

I am still looking for the tweet.  Maybe because one contract was signed with the Titans and the new deal is with the Eagles, not sure, but two tweets clearly stated the new contract has no impact on his 2022 cap hit.

Doesn't work well for the NC though.  That starts late and ends later.  And I'll hear the results if I DVR and watch the next day.  No Bueno.

The results of my draft knowledge questionairre are in. I barely got them all scored before having to leave for work again right now. Ill post full results later. These are about as legit as the NBA lottery. Id be shocked if I didnt miscount anyones. For now, Ill just announce the winner, and will post all scores later.

The winner of the  first inaugural Chris Steuber Ultimate Draft Nerd Award is........

@Texas Eagle!!!!!

Congratulations! You can add that award in your sig if youd like. Or just throw it out and pretend this never happened.

Shout out to @Iggles25 who had the same score of 14/20 correct, but did not get either tie breaker. Texas Eagle had 14/20 plus 1 tie breaker.

Been watching some Anthony Richardson, 2023 QB prospect from the Florida Gators. Man is he a special prospect, limited sample size, but the potential jumps at you.

- Pro-typical size 6"5 236 Lbs.

- His arm is ridiculous, as is his lightning quick release.

- Throws a smooth, catchable ball, hits the pass window ridiculously well.

- He's the most quick twitched QB I have seen since Vick, even SEC defenders can't keep up with him.

- He needs development that will hopefully come this year, but has all the tools at apex levels.

Just saying, it would be news for me. Every extension looks the same regardless of the scenario.

Woo hoo!

Were people really expecting to sign Mathieu after the AJ Brown trade? Seemed like a pipe dream especially since we need to keep the cap somewhat flexible next year.

In hindsight quite a few surprises. Still can’t believe Stingley went before Sauce.. 😲

Yeah that was unexpected. And thanks!

Hill and Adams may have had higher cap hits for 2022, and that year was reworked as part of the extension to lower the current year cap hit.

For Adams

When traded, Adams had a cap hit of 20.145 million on the franchise tag.

They reworked that number in the new contract to lower his cap number this year to 8 million.

Different definition of run first. Our evaluation of Hurts’ issue is the same.  I call it one read and go.

Reminds me of Cam

Certainly the similarities are there. Cam was bigger and stronger.

Anthony is faster, more explosive, has a better arm, and quicker release.
