AFC is catching all the headlines because of all the talent they have at QB and the offensive playmakers moving over the off-season. It will be interesting to see what the Chargers do after adding Khalil Mack and a few other players on defense.

AFC = Offense

NFC = Defense

The last 2 Super Bowls have landed in the NFC.

Just to point out 3 of the top 5 defenses in ppg were in the afc.  The nfc had the last two SB winners cause Tom Brady and the Bucs defense were top 8 in both. And the rams last year defensively finished 17th yards per game and 15th ppg given up. Their offense points per game finished 8th and 9th in yards. I’d argue the last two Super Bowls came down to oline. Chiefs lost nearly their entire line heading into that game. And the bengals oline was one of the worst in the league and it finally caught up to them.

Average at best?  Lamar Jackson is the youngest player to win MVP in the history of the league and is still just 25 years old.  The Ravens have done an awful job of surrounding him with talent on offense like other teams around the league have with their young QBs.

I have no idea how you could have watched in him in a game like against the Colts on MNF last year when he had 504 total yards and led a crazy huge comeback win.

Average

No more ridiculous then all the speculation about trading for Watson, Wilson or Rodgers last season into this offseason.

Eagles were interested in both Wilson and Watson. Numerous reports were out there about it

He hasn't even really hit his prime yet.  If he stays healthy and plays as well as his career trajectory looks then he will probably looking for a new deal in 2-3 years.

That doesn't bode well for the draft pick so I sure hope the Saints aren't that high.

No Peyton and possibly no Kamara, Thomas rusty, replacing Armstead and Williams…7-10, 8-9 is not impossible.

I will try. I might make it a few more questions next time. I was sweating it out scoring it hoping there wasnt going to be a tie.

It was fun for me too. All of those questions were because I had a hunch things could be close, or some surprise might happen. For instance the Stingley over booth question- I think only 1 person got that right. And those 4 players in the tie breakers- I thought all might be drafted. 3/4 were. Things like that were interesting to watch even though I didnt participate in my own thing.

Stingley or Gardner you mean.

I'd love to find an NFL comp for Dean, but I can't. He's small, light, and not as fast as the smaller, lighter linebackers I've seen him comped to.

Zach Thomas measureables (if Dean is the meh workout guy that has been suggested)…

Thomas was slower and less explosive. Here’s Dean’s college combine numbers I found from 2019:

40: 4.74

Vertical: 41”

31 7/8” arms

9 1/8” hands

I think Vilma is the best comparison. Or, he’s just Nakobe Dean. Been watching a ton of his games the past few days (I didn’t bother much predraft since like most I assumed he’d go R1, and I knew we were gonna go hard after Davis, a DE or a CB). I love what I see. He’s definitely the heart and soul of that Georgia defense.

Zero points, loser.

Agreed!

If the Eagles moving on from Jalen Hurts and looking for a new QB next season and Lamar Jackson is rumored to be available next season then I guarantee you that there will be reports of Eagles interest in Lamar Jackson.  But yeah chances are like the other rumors nothing will ultimately come from it.  But if they are both looking next season then they will be linked with interest.

I don’t really see how Lamar fits as a backup for Carson Strong.

It’s cool. You’d have had less than 13 right.

Good find. What did he weigh at the time?

I would hope Howie and Lurie are smart enough not to inquire about average starting qbs like Jackson.

Lamar seems like a weird choice for a #2 QB behind Carson.

Looks like 217. So he gained about 8 lbs and I bet he got a little faster over his college career. That 41” vertical is insane.

My guess is that Herbig’s tender amount was more than any team wanted to pay him, including the Eagles.  Herbig wasn’t Opeta bad but I believe he was the weakest link when forced to start. Not great at pass blocking and too slow.  Frankly, I like Toth more.

Last year, with Brooks out, Driscoll was the starting RG.  I like Seumalo better. Curious about Dillard as a swing player.  Everyone seems to believe that a player who only played LT, failed with one week of practice (basically three days) at RT can’t learn under Stout (yet so many of the same believe that drafting a C early was horrible because Stout can build starters out of clay).

I take the Herbig release as a good sign on Seumalo’s recovery. May be misreading but maybe not.

I cant believe Strong went undrafted. I've been banging the table all offseason for this kid and we got him as an UDFA. Unbelievable. Hurts better stay healthy...

The obvious concern with Carson Strong is that his mobility is so limited due to multiple injuries (that he may never fully recover from)...in order for him to actually move in the pocket they may need to load him on a dolly and push him around like Hanibal Lector.

Some analysts and scouts make it sound like Drew Bledsoe would be like Lamar Jackson compared to Carson Strong.  If that is true I don't see how he can make it?    Or think of late career Jim McMahon who by the end was immobile and as brittle as a China doll.

I guess there is a chance as a career backup capable of staying healthy for short spurts?   A game here or there at points during the season?

He will be 100% heathy by camp.  There was a story about the procedure and his recovery.

He came back to soon, as he felt he owes it to his teammates.  He should not have even played last year.  He will have Matt Stanford type mobility when healthy.

Can’t argue the numbers on a full season.

The Bucs beat the Chiefs with defense. The Rams beat the Bengals with defense. Ultimately, the Eagles beat the Patriots with key plays on defense to beat Brady and the patriots. The Chiefs Super Bowl win over the 49ers was not a shootout like the Chiefs had to get there. Patriots had a 13-3 win over the Rams before Brady left in there too.

Just watching the games over the last 3 seasons… offense wins in the AFC playoffs, while defense wins in the NFC playoffs.

I certainly will be hoping that's true.

It begs the question, why wasn’t he drafted if he’ll be 100% by camp?

I think the Bucs defense played great in that game. It helped the chiefs were down both starting OTs and basically 4 of their 5 olineman were playing out of position due to the injuries. I think Bucs defense was great but not having their normal oline definitely caught up to them. Lost their starting LT the afc title game.

Eagles also won that super bowl scoring 38 points on offense before Graham’s strip sack. The offense led the way and did enough until the defense decided to show up.

This past super bowl was more on the fact cincy had a horrific oline which played into the rams strength of good defensive front. They gave up 50+ sacks this year and 9 in a playoff game against Tennessee.

the rams patriots super bowl you could make the case. I didn’t think the chiefs/niners SB was a great defensive battle nor offense explosion either. I do think when the chiefs needed to make big plays on offense mahomes came up big.
