I agree sometimes coaches are doomed from the beginning  , he is pretty sharp though , if he is smart Fangio is his first hire , jags have picks and cap room , I’m rooting for him

It's hard not to root for him. I liked him when he was a qb seems like a pretty likeable guy.

As long as it's not Hurts I don't really care who it is.

Wentz was worse in 2020 than Hurts was last season.

He was, but was he worse last year? I thought he played okay during the season and then choked big time at the end

WRs taken in RD1 will not be a reach this year...there's just no consensus on the order. You want a faster WR? Williams was a top 15 pre ACL injury. You want size? There's London. You want a freak who needs work? There's Burks. You want all-around guys without special traits? There's Wilson & Olave.

You're going to see lots of different WRs positions in mock drafts and some guys are going to be higher/lower than you expect.

Howell would make me puke.

Howell is much more comparable to Josh Allen than Hurts.  He's like Josh Allen in Mayfield's body with Mayfield's arm.  I don't think he's worth a first round pick but he's got talent.  I read a report that said he threw the ball like a baseball player and I think that's an accurate description of his mechanics.  If he got those fixed, he has potential.

No, he was better passing the ball than Hurts but he was on a different team. But a QB like Wentz makes you think he has potential, so you keep him longer than you should.  I don't think the team will have that same issue with Hurts.

Hurts was on a "different team" this year then Wentz was last year. Hurts scares me because it seems like no one wants to mention the 500lb gorilla in the room. I'm afraid the coaching staff and owners want to give him more time and I don't think he deserves it already.

He's giving back some of the money he stole over the last 3 years?

Hurts scares you?

Your team is going to win a whole bunch of games over the next few years; Hurts just needs to stay healthy. And if he doesn’t stay healthy, he won’t be here.

So no need to be scared.

socialist?

Me or Utah?

Utah definitely not, the majority of Utah are conservative Republican, same with Utah legislature and Mormons as well, which is weird as in the early years of the church they were heavily involved in the socialist party,

Now, the church are very much in favor of   capitalism.

Yes, good for him but, I'm not sure he's going to make a good h.c.. We'll see though

As long as he's not teaching throwing motion I think he'll be ok, was like a windmill.

Howell is an interesting evaluation because at this time last year he was being talked about as a possible #1 overall pick.  He loses Dyami Brown, Dazz Newsome, Michael Carter and Javonte Williams to the NFL, his numbers go down in his junior year (surprise, surprise) and he’s now being graded as a 2nd round pick.

I don’t like at all how much he ran this season 180+ times, but the first two years it was only half that much.  Give me those first two years please.  He’s got a really good arm, not great height at about 6’1 — but strong arm and mobile and can throw from the pocket (unlike the guy we have now).

Physically he is comparable to Baker Mayfield, but Mayfield was/is also an immature knob.  Mayfield hasn’t lived up to expectations but it’s not because he lacks the physical tools.  I wouldn’t be shocked if the Eagles took Howell and I think his potential is far beyond what Hurts can be.  I also think there will be another Sam Howell in just about every draft, though, so it isn’t like I’d move up to draft him.

I like Howell and Strong the best out of what I've watched from this QB class. And agree that Howell has more potential than Hurts coming out. I like how decisively he moves around the pocket -- some QB's really seem to literally define "scrambling" when they do this. Howell keeps himself ready to fire downfield even as bodies are all around him. Before he lost his weapons to the NFL he was good at staying pass-first while on the move and connected on a lot of big-play bombs. Developed the bad habit of pulling it down and running maybe too often in this last season.

If the Eagles really believe in a QB factory, and you can actually get him in the second, I could see them continuing to roll the dice hoping to find their Russell Wilson. Howell's floor might be Gardner Minshew -- an above average backup. His ceiling, IMO, is higher than Hurts. He's not as good a runner but functional in that part of the game. And much more promising from a passing perspective. Neither have the ideal QB frame.

That would be nice but no chance Brisker or Johnson make it to 51 amd 83, likely Muma doesn't last until 121 either.

If he's retiring then maybe he's doing the Eagles a solid and getting a little more 2021 money as a kickback?

6 minutes ago, 4for4EaglesNest said:

That's not saying much.  So was Kordell Stewart.

Williams in the first is not a reach.  Not by a long shot.  I wouldn't say Olave and Wilson is either.  I just would rather we not go there.

When do I ever have much to say? I agree with you on the WRs.  I think it's probably one of the deepest positions in the draft.

They’re slight reaches. Both are legit first rounders. Imagine in 2019 if we’d passed up Dillard for Montez Sweat or Deebo Samuel, or DK Metcalf over JJAW. We need to realize our boards rarely look anything like that in teams war rooms. Burks is a freak of nature who IMO would be the perfect complement to Smith. And Johnson, who is the bigger reach of the two, is still projected by most in the 20’s.

Agreed. I truly think Howie is locked in on Pickett.

Pickett reminds me of Christian ponder, whom was out if the league in a few years👎

I worry that Howie and Lurie will delude themselves into believing he has more potential and he's progressed more than he has.  I just don't think that's the case.  The Eagles keep popping up as a landing spot for Watson and Wilson.

No question he is.  I've never heard of a guy getting a new contract to retire.
