They only won 4 games last season, but it shows even in the AFC, you don’t need a full roster of good players, just good ones at key positions and you can compete for a Super Bowl.

One good thing about the Rams win is, in my eyes, it diminishes what Brady did last season.  Just add a competent QB like Stafford to a contending roster and win a Super Bowl.  Stafford isn’t great, wasn’t great tonight — but got his Super Bowl win.

 If you look back at the 7 years between the Bengals Super Bowl losses in the 80’s, the games were mostly blowouts. 
 3 losses isn’t great, but they haven’t been torched in any of them.

No one is putting him on a pedestal. We all are just not blind enough to believe the eagles didn’t need nick foles and Carson to play like they did. who cares what wentz is now. that season the eagles needed him playing how he did (mvp level) and foles to play at the level he did during the playoffs. Unfortunately you are too stubborn or hate-filled to actually accept that. So I guess we just don’t play the first 13 games of the season and the season just starts with the nfl handing the eagles 11 wins or just assume Nick foles with a elbow injury nearly making him retire would even held up all 16 games from week 1 to the super bowl (https://ftw.usatoday.com/2019/08/jaguars-nick-foles-elbow-retirement). 

i know it must hard to accept the eagles needed wentz to play in an mvp for 13 games in 2017 and foles to play like a mvp in the playoffs to win.

First of all, no one is denying Foles played like a god that night and won us our first Lombardi. 

Second, while it’s easy to bash Wentz, you can’t honestly sit there and deny the fact that without him playing at MVP-level, we likely don’t even make it to the Super Bowl.

This. Wentz’s downfall happened and ended poorly. However the eagles needed wentz playing like an mvp for 13 games and foles to pick up where wentz left off once the playoffs began and played like an mvp. It amazes me because of how it ended wentz accomplishments that season  had nothing to do with winning that SB  

it is ok to thank Carson for what he did that year and love/admire/cherish/praise foles for what he accomplished that year.

Because he gets credit for nothing. Rodgers has won MVP multiple times and has one SB 12 years ago. Wentz didn’t win MVP. You guys put him on a pedestal for 11 games. 

Well, that was a boring Super Bowl.  Proved that the game is won in the trenches. Best play of the game may have been the stunt with Von. Miller and Donald. Man do our DTs need better than Barnett DEs and better LBs.  Interesting that the key defense for both teams matched Gannon’s approach.  Maybe he is better than given credit for.  Hopefully Howie gives a lot of the draft to him plus better free agents.

Fitting that a possession receiver who doesn’t have elite speed but runs great routes, has great hands and great body control won the game on offense and MVP.  Hope @eagle45 was watching that.  Speed at WR can be so overrated.

How many watched the speed of pulling the trigger of Burrows and thought "Hurts can’t do that ".

Glad I stuck around for the women’s monobob.  Man, I would love to take a ride in those sleds. USA USA   Of course, then we got PBS ballroom dancing on ice and I had to check out.

 

Winning MVP really is meaningless. It’s a subjective decision my a committee. Scientists can give earth the biggest planet in the solar system award, that doesn’t mean it is. Wentz being MVP that season is objective truth.

That said, now he’s a turd and I couldn’t care less where his career ends up. Likely has one more year as a starter in this league, if that.

Wentz wasn't the franchise QB that we all hoped for, but still played a fairly big role in helping the franchise win it's first Super Bowl. Everything happened as it needed to in 2017.
