Having a bad day?

At any rate, he's far from my first choice.

Quandre feels alot like an Anthony Harris stop gap signing.  I really don't think that's the right direction.  I am sure Hooker would be cheaper.

It must be two's day.

1. Watkins

A 27-year-old guard who didn't love football. One of the most obviously stupid picks ever.

2. Reagor

Slightly less egregious than the Watkins pick. But considering Justin Jefferson's success and Reagor's net negative impact on the field, hard to argue he should be any lower. Slight to big reach depending on your source.

3. Smith

Horrible draft day management. Rigid draft board because of Chip's scheme (Verrett and Ford were clearly better players but not considered fits). Weren't aggressive enough to get Cooks. Big reach.

4. Jarrett

Bad process, turned out to be bad player. Reach.

5. JJAW

He can't play, but at least there were NFL folks that thought he was worth taking around where he was. Not great process, but not as egregious as the above.

6. Jones

He can play in the NFL. Dumb to take him at #43 coming off one of the worst possible injuries for a CB. Bad character evaluation.

It's tough, I'm going Watkins because Cam Jordan was sitting right there and he would've been a great fit. Danny was an incredible reach, and he couldn't do jack crap.
But when it's all days and done it could be Reagor, Jefferson was so obvious anyone on the eagles message board could've made that pick. So embarrassing

Watkins wasn't a reach.  A lot of people thought he was a late first to early second type value. He had played LT and played well in college. He had a strong Senior Bowl.  His age was the big question mark on him.  Reagor was likely more of a reach.  Jarrett was a definite reach.  Marcus Smith is probably the worst pick.  I mean he never saw the field.

Just head west. It’s up again in about 45 minutes. Happens all the time.

Ill probably enjoy the surprise of whichever big ticket FA(s) they sign, but I just expect guys like Diggs.

I think another option is going to be Tracy Walker from Detroit. blurb from PFFs FA rankings:

Quote

The former third-round pick has flashed the ability to be both a proficient deep-third free safety and run defender over the course of his rookie contract. Walker’s 231 total tackles over the last three seasons rank third among safeties, which includes 17 for loss or no gain — a top-10 mark.

At LB a guy like Nicholas Morrow little blurb about him from here https://www.phillyvoice.com/three-free-agents-who-make-sense-eagles-version-3-0-juju-smith-schuster-nicholas-morrow-haason-reddick/

Nicholas Morrow (Age: 26), LB, Raiders (6'0, 225)

The Eagles have attempted to convert safeties into linebackers over the last few years, like Kamu Grugier-Hill, Nate Gerry, Davion Taylor (sort of), and JaCoby Stevens. That track record isn't exactly awesome, obviously.

If they're still looking for linebackers who can cover like safeties, the Raiders had success converting Morrow from a safety into a linebacker after signing him as an undrafted free agent in 2017.

In 2020, Morrow allowed just 4.5 yards per target, per pro-football-reference.com. He was also a threat as a blitzer, as he collected three sacks and eight pressures on the season.

In 2021, Morrow was a free agent, but he signed back with the Raiders on a fully guaranteed one-year deal worth $4.5 million. However, he suffered an ankle injury during training camp and missed the entire season, though he nearly returned in time for Vegas' wildcard round matchup against the Bengals.

Morrow is a free agent once again in 2022, and his price will probably come down. He could be a high upside bargain signing for the Eagles at linebacker.

To the "Howie can't draft" people, it could be far, far worse:

Using the failure of other organizations doesn't get Howie off the hot seat for egregious failures in the draft.  This is like when your financial advisor says, "Sure, the returns you've gotten while I've managed your money may not have been great, but at least I'm not Bernie Madoff."

High bar you are setting there, afan.  High bar.

Imagine if you could travel at the exact rate of speed required to arrive in each time zone, just as it turned 2:22. You could basically travel at the speed of 2:22 and re-experience that moment over and over. Mind freaky.

On a 40 yard pass downfield, you're not going to release it when the WR is at the 20, maybe at the 25-30 or so - because the ball moves a lot faster than your receiver - ball moves at 50-60 MPH, your WR at 20 MPH or so. But anticipation helps, a weaker arm QB with good anticipation and vision can release the ball earlier, throwing it to the spot the WR will be, whereas many strong arm QBs have to see the open window (McNabb, Vick).

I never said the bolded.  I said that it wouldn't be thrown when the receiver was at the 40... same as the pass to the 20 yard mark wouldn't have to be thrown when the runner is at 20 yards.

But, hey, with Hurts we have the best of both.  We have a QB that needs to see the receiver in the window open AND without the arm strength to be late on the release.   The argument against Hurts is that he lacks all of those attributes that weak armed QBs have that allows them to compensate for the lack of arm strength, and with limited accuracy on top of all of it.

I think Terrell Edmunds could be a prime target for Howie in free agency too.

He was listed as a CB for a while in college. He moved to the "rover" position. He plays well in the box, but has tons of experience in man coverage. He is about 217lbs but ran a 4.47 at that size in the combine.

He is only 25 years old.

Terrell Edmunds (Age: 25), S, Steelers (6'1, 217)

Edmunds was a 2018 first-round pick of the Steelers who is likely headed to free agency after Pittsburgh declined to exercise his fifth-year option last offseason. It should be noted that the Steelers traded for Minkah Fitzpatrick, who was a first-round pick the same year as Edmunds, so having two safeties play on their fifth-year options in 2022 would have been quite expensive.

Fitzpatrick's fifth-year option was picked up, and Edmunds' wasn't. As such, Edmunds is a rare first-round pick who has been a decent player for the majority of his rookie contract who is set to become a free agent after just four seasons.

Edmunds has good size at 6'1, 217, he has never missed a game due to injury, he just turned 25 years old, and he has outstanding athleticism:

This is the type of still-ascending player that the Eagles should be betting on in free agency.

The list is horrendously long. and really pathetic. When you see this list and realize we would be better off trading away our high draft picks for KNOWN proven players.

He was a 26 year old fireman, he was more of a second rounder.

Agreed. Not only was he a bust, the whole process was a complete disaster.

I don't try to do it but if I have enough time between doctors office and school,  I seem to fall asleep on my couch pretty often.

I was reading the russia/Ukraine thread in CVON and they put me to sleep.

Yes.

But it's a Howie move looking at the youth and starting experience.

Has that versatility you are talking about in Cooks that they might be looking for.
