I know on Saturdays, I'm trying to find whatever BIG10 game Gus Johnson is doing. Generally don't care what teams are playing, I just love hearing him in the booth.

I used to love tuning in to whatever game Vern Lundquist was calling.  I still really enjoy Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson.  I've just always liked the way they narrate a game.  Also a comfort level of knowing a certain sound and what it means.  Reminds me of Harry Kalas.  How many summer nights did I love just having the voice in the background but not really watching the game.

I LOVED Mark Zumov and the pure energy and love for the Sixers he brought to every single game.  He was the soundtrack of the Sixers for my whole life.  Kate Scott has made me stop watching Sixers games because it's painful to listen to.

On Sundays, when you hear Romo or Buck/Aikman at least you know it's the game of the week...but I'd never tune in just to hear them call a game.  It's a shame.  Networks have sought after ex players rather than qualified, experienced announcers.  Some of them are just awful.

People have been complaining about announcers since I've been watching sports. Considering sitting at home you can basically call out the same things before they do, it's easy to see why. Romo was a breath of fresh air initially because he would call out plays and defenses before the snap....but now he's turned into a windbag who talks way too much.

Damn it, all this change in one offseason sucks. No Aikman on FOX, no Michaels on SNF.

Why would anyone want to go up against a far superior manningcast?

I could see a fourth.  A 2nd seems out of reach.  His best ability is running.

Regular season: 16 games played

9 games with less than 200 yards passing

6 games with zero passing TD

3 games with 1 passing TD

More than half of his games produced .33 passing TDs per game.

He had 10 rushing TDs

9 games without a rushing TD

Would you want your team to give up a top 50 pick for that production?

The only way the Eagles get a 2nd for Hurts is if there’s a team who would bring him in as their unquestioned starter; I don’t think that team exists.  There might be a couple of teams that would bring him in to compete for the job (PIT, NO), but his value in that scenario would be a 3rd — perhaps as much as a 3rd and a 6th.

If the likely scenario occurs — the Eagles keep Hurts as their starter and he plays at the same level as 2021 — then the decision to move on from him and trade him brings back almost nothing.  Trading Hurts after the 2022 season might get the Eagles a 6th round pick, a la Minshew

I'm not watching the Manningcast unless I don't give a crap about the game. If the Eagles are playing, I'm watching the damn game full screen even if Booger is calling it.

How many Howies?

11 Howies out of 10- You are the smartest of all of the GM's by thinking 2 seasons down the road in drafting Lane's replacement in Penning and Kelce's replacement in Linderbaum.  Will either of these players contribute next season? No - but that doesn't matter because you stuck to your guns and have out thought the competition.  Bonus points because Penning is Philly tough and will instantly draw comparisons to John Runyan when he gets beat around the edge by the Giants' pick Thibodeaux.

Why do you hate him so much lol.

Turbisky and Darold was worse than him. You can Argue Cam too.

Not to mention this is the year that defenses basically laughed at Doug's game plan

Trust me, he wasnt good, he wasnt average, but not the worst.

He's a Hurts supporter, so that should say it all really.

People really defending Wentz' 2020 season in the blog.

I support winning and evaluating what's there. Hurts objectively has value.

If we could flip Hurts for Rodgers, I'd do it in a heart-beat. But punting Hurts for Mariota, Trubisky, Jimmy G or a draft pick like Ridder/Strong? No

Hurts is a negative value. He negatively affects our WRs, TEs, and coaching staff. He sucks, and the sooner he is gone the better. I'd way rather roll the dice on a draft pick than stick with Hurts, because we know the answer with him. At least a draft pick could provide some optimism.

If Hurts is as bad as you think, we'll draft in the top 5 next year and select Young/Stroud. If I could trade Hurts for a 2023 1st, I'd do it too but I doubt that's on the table.

Hurts uses TEs fine. Goedert was 5th in yards, despite being 14th in targets. I agree that he doesn't unlock WRs the way he should and that caps his upside.

You know Hurts could be bad and we could still pick outside of the top 5, yes?

Hurts was average at best last year, and we got the 19th pick out of it.

The Commenders QB situation was horrendous, they have the 10th pick.

Saints QB position was not very good, 18th pick.

Rolling with Hurts for multiple years puts you in purgatory to try and draft the next QB.  Need to strike while we have 3 first rounders.

Caplan said a Jags source told him that the Eagles made a call to Jax when there were rumors that Chark was available last year.

I’d say Washington and New Orleans have better rosters than the Eagles, with tue Saints having arguably the best roster in the league excluding QB.

The Eagles never had the roster of a bottom 5 team.  They bottomed out at 4 wins in 2020 because the coaching staff sucked, and it was the 3rd or 4th year in a row with the epidemic of injuries -- due in part to coaching (S&C, off-season programs, how training camp was run, etc.).  Schwartz had checked out, Doug was in over his head and surrounded by interns and people he didn't hire (and probably didn't listen to).  Game planning was bad, QB play eroded and wasn't corrected or coached up.

The Eagles last season pretty much beat the teams they should beat and got outclassed by teams that were better.  They lost a Giants game they should have won, didn't really beat any teams that were over their head.  They're a middling, .500 type of team.  Without a QB to elevate the roster that's where they'll sit.

The 2022 schedule looks about the same or even a bit easier -- hard to tell until after FA and the draft, though.

The Saints lost 9 starters last year getting under the cap, I would not even put their roster top 5, maybe not even top 10.

God bless the Ukrainian people and the tens of thousands who will sacrifice in the defense of their country.

This has a bit of a feeling of Hitler’s annexation of Sudetenland (like Crimea) followed by establishing Protectorates in Czechoslovakia (Bohemia and Moravia).  With the west stuck in the neutrality pacts, nationalism and protectionism of the mid thirties.  China is probably watching this with eyes on Taiwan.

Regardless, you’d agree their roster is significantly better than the Eagles’, right?

Defensively, yes, it's not close.

Offensively....we have them in o-line and even WR. (This is under the assumption Thomas never plays there again).

QB is even, as Hill/Hurts are the same guy.

RB is clearly Saints.

TE is clearly Eagles.

So the USFL draft is intriguing.  A dose of Last Chance U in the pros with some players in need of more cooking and some on the last moments of their dreams.  Not the NFL Europe model but more like a AA team.  (I think the XFL is looking to be AAA level of NFL Europe.)  I imagine the NFL will scout these games.

This is absolutely the correct take. Putin's blood and soil reasoning is copy and paste from that era.

You wanna fill holes and add draft capital for next year I gotcha covered.  @Outlaw @Ray75

I just wonder why the Jags wouldn't want to re-sign him.  I mean they have Shenault, Marvin Jones and Treadwell.  That's nothing dynamic.  It's not like there's a top WR in the draft that's worth the number 1 overall pick.
