We would need that fire power because our defense will be giving up 30+ a game against any team with a competent QB.  Then you have to extend Metcalf.  Not a lot of cap resources to replenish our lack of talent on D.

Yeah, we can go 4-12 like Houston did with Watson when their defense imploded in 2020.

QBs aren't miracle workers.

Jalen Hurts will.

And since so many of you are stuck on this broken played out response anytime someone suggests bringing in a veteran WR, last I checked I haven't seen where the Eagles have given Jalen Hurts a 10 year contract.

Why does that ring a bell?  I vaguely remember that conversation.  He did something stupid......and some moron came along and said he was incapable of doing something dumb because of his GPA?  Was that it?

Yup, when he got drunk and broke down his father in laws door or something.

No, he won't.

Seattle picking at 9 now means there could be one less pass rusher available for us at 15

From the Joe Banner article earlier:

The Eagles are clearly a team that recognizes if you’re going to win big, you need to have a great quarterback. There are teams that will do whatever it takes to get a great QB, and there are others that will not acquiesce if the QB costs too much. The Eagles fall into the former category. They will be aggressive.

The Eagles’ effusiveness and the degree of their enthusiasm about Hurts at the Combine indicates they’re trying to prepare for him being traded to maximize his value. If they can get Watson for Hurts, a first this year, and a first next year, it could go down as one of the best trades in NFL history. They’d be getting a top 5 to top 7 QB for $34M APY. If he were up for an extension right now, he’d get at least $45-47M. I can’t think of an example of a player of this caliber being traded.

Denver paid a lot for Wilson, but with the team up for sale it's the right move to get the most out of that sale.

Who is left for the Commanders?  Wentz, Doug Flutie and presumably Teddy Bridgwater. Got get em Dan!

Ok.  What does that mean?

I'm assuming it has something to do with Sherman ish-talking Wilson in the past.

Officially tagged

@Iggles_Phan the dream..... is over.

I think Eagles were linked to being interested in him in the past.

I don't know about that.  What about QB?

I told you he was off the market hours ago.  Come on brah.

We have Greg Ward

But Beast said they weren't going to!

Your move, Howie.

If he's healthy, DaeSean Hamilton can play.

Yep, the Jeff Lurie quote is in my signature.

Watson or bust now.

Eh, I'm not opposed to it but don't see it not happening as an indicative failure for the offseason already.

If Hurts is the QB of 2022, instead of starting the 2022 season thread, just skip it and start the 2023 offseason thread, because the season will be over before it began. No reason to watch the Eagles in 2022 if Hurts is the QB. They're a boring, mediocre product with no chance to win anything.

Dude, just go be a Bengals fan.

1 hour ago, Sack that QB said:

Damn they only gave up two 1sts.

Fing Howie

No. They gave up 2 1sts, 2 2nds, a 5th, Drew Lock, Shelby Harris, and Noah Fant...for a QB already in his mid-30's who has taken an awful lot of big hits in his career. HARD PASS.

Not sarcastic at all. The Eagles have been relegated to iPad duty with me for the last two seasons now, with Red Zone on the big screen on Sundays, and Red Zone gets 80% of my attention on game days. The Eagles are a boring tough watch, and will continue to be next season if Hurts is the QB.

See above. Why are you an Eagles fan?

Atrocious deal. Good for Seattle.

WIP is flipping out right now.  Saying Denver got hosed.  They’re nuts.

I agree. I think Denver got the short end of the stick here. Russ is bound to hit a wall soon. I think Brady has given everyone false hope that QB's can be amazing into their late 30's to mid 40's. TB was a freak of nature when it came to aging.

I might be in the minority.  But I think Denver made a bad deal.  I see his decline being rapid and sooner than people think.

I agree.

People can dislike a Watson move, but the Eagles have to do what's best for the franchise. I stopped caring about morality years ago. How many NFL players have we rooted for who've done Fed up stuff behind the scenes and in their personal lives that we just never found out about? How many hundreds of NFL players that we've rooted for over the years were absolute scumbags but it just never came to light? I stopped caring about liking people. I want my team to win football games. That's it. I want parades.

Kevin Spacey has been accused of even worse than Watson. Sexual assault of underaged boys. But I still watch his movies. I think he's a terrific actor. American Beauty is one of my all-time favorite movies, as is Se7en. And the guy is allegedly a scumbag. But I can admire him as a professional and his talent, and be entertained by him. Kevin Spacey's work has brought me great joy throughout my life. Both in film and TV.

I look at Watson as sort of the same thing. If the allegations are true, he's a creep at best and at worst a criminal. But the product on the field is a means to an end. To entertain and bring me joy. And if people have issues with him playing, that's on the courts and the NFL. Not the Eagles. If he's allowed to play.

You’re missing a TON of the big picture here man.

Hard to imagine the Chickens are going to roll with Lock and Geno Smith at QB in 2022, but they do need pass rushers as well.  Let's hope they take Corral or Willis instead.

You're free to elaborate.

Anyway, curious if Watson's price or greater or less than Wilson's and if the Wilson deal set the market for Watson now at two 1sts+ instead of 3.

Don't want DK. For one thing, what was the reason he fell off this season. My suspicion is with teams going to more two deep safeties, his deep ball prowess will have less value, and he's not a great route runner or has great hands - take away the big plays and he's meh.

He seems to have a chronic foot injury.  Route running has never been his strong suit and the foot injury exacerbates that.  You would have to do a really deep medical dive on him before agreeing to trade for him.

Really depends how much Seattle valued Lock, Harris and Fant.

Unless you're Lowie.

I'd guess his price would be lower even though he's younger because of the legal issues and one less team in the market for the bidding. Two 1sts, Hurts, Dillard and maybe another non 1st somewhere sounds fair.

They only need to sign him for eight years.

He doesn't have the arm strength to reach ten.
