You must not have paid attention to Lurie when he said the NFL is a offensive league, specifically a passing league. Yes I think they will get defense but they will be looking to upgrade offense early as well. Just dont see 3 defensive players in the first.

If the NFL is a passing league, and that’s our goal, why would we start Jalen Hurts at QB. He’s one of the least effective passers in the league. And wouldnt we want our defense to pass rush? And pass defend?

Denver’s drafted well and can afford to pay this price. Would be nice to have a ready-made roster for a QB.

Well, we have about half a roster and no QB.

You're free to elaborate.

Anyway, curious if Watson's price or greater or less than Wilson's and if the Wilson deal set the market for Watson now at two 1sts+ instead of 3.

I will offer a comment here. Watson is a scumbag. Wilson is not. I have a preference.

If the NFL is a passing league, and that's our goal... why would we DRAFT Jalen Hurts at QB?

Not sure why it's so hard for some to figure this part out.

Thats why Im sticking with my thought that Howie will go for Pickett. Once Hurts proved he wasnt the answer in the first 7 games that we threw the ball 95% of the game Howie fell in love with Pickett going to a lot of his games in person. Eventhough we may not like it, I just have a feeling Howie wants Pickett.

Agreed, they overpaid too.  Most teams do overpay for QBs.  Remember what the Washingteam paid for RGIII.  Just because others pay it, doesn't mean its not too much to pay.

Splitting hairs here but that’s an entirely different argument, in my opinion. If the market cost is what it is and they pay it, it’s not overpaying. If you think the asset isn’t worth the cost, that could also be true. Paying $5 for a gallon of gas right now is a lot, but that’s the cost is what it is.

I would do that if it were a mid-June - September time frame, and I hadn't already gotten a summer gig lined up.  I'd even bring the wife and teenage son.  We could all work and enjoy the scenery.  But alas... it just doesn't quite fit.

We should sign Ogbah and draft Ojabo.  Great bookend names.

What do you think Ogbah is gonna seek?

I wondered about that aspect of the deal…

NFL trades are like the housing market.

It's worth what someone is willing to pay.

WR and QB market drying up.   So glad the Eagles invested, dramatically, in both positions the last 5 years.  Howie’s done a great job setting us up………..

Oh.  He hasn’t.  Because he sucks.

We have a SB within the last 5 years…

No teaching jobs.. They do pay for your training for CDL, but you’d have to show up in March for training. So it’s too late for that now. But for that position I think they’re a little more strict in your contract if it’s your first season for arrival date. After completing your first season and having your CDL, they become way more flexible for arrival date the next summer you want to come up. Driver guides do make good money, and it’s a fantastic way to see the Alaska country.

CDL-B I assume? They’re not driving tractor trailers full of tourists to national parks right? Lol

That wasn't his point. He was suggesting I missed something from an analytical perspective. I've acknowledged if the allegations are true, he's a scumbag. That isn't anything new.

If people don't want him, they don't want him. That's fine. Not a whole lot of debate to be had for personal preferences on morality.

I look at it very differently... its more like a car than fuel for the car.  If some other fool wants to pay $100k for a car that already has 100k miles on it, and is in danger of breaking down, let them.  I'll stick with my whip and wait until a better option comes around that has a longer life ahead of it.

With gas, there is only one option.  With cars, there are other alternatives, maybe with less style but much lower over cost of ownership as well as cost to acquire.

If Denver wins the Super Bowl in the next two years, then they got their value back.  If they don't, they didn't.  I don't think they will, and therefore overpaid.

Doesn't matter to me, I just want to hear those names being on the field at the same time.

I hope not. We have the luxury of having three first round picks in the same draft, that’s deep at positions we need, with a roster full of holes. Trade Hurts for a 3rd round pick, draft a mid-round backup or project QB, start Minshew for a year and figure it out later.

I can’t watch Hurts for another year. I just can’t. I’ll check the box score or whatever but I just can’t watch this 3 and out, running from a clean pocket with open WRs running downfield, joke of an offense, where we run on bad teams and can’t convert 3rd downs or come from behind against half-decent ones. And maybe Minshew won’t win any more games, but at least he’ll throw the ball.

I guess I’d rather have Pickett than watch Hurts again, but Pickett gives me real Sam Darnold-ish busty vibes. And not the kind of busty that the EMB likes.

Yea I think so. It’s basically like greyhound busses 😂

Fair enough. I was expecting it to take 3 firsts.

So was I, and I had zero interest in that price, which is why I was always against the move to trade for a QB.  And it DID cost the equivalent of 3 firsts.  A second this year is valued the same as a first in 2023.  A second in 2023 is essentially the same value as a first in 2024.

If the Eagles were to give up that deal, that's just too much, especially for what this team desperately needs.

In theory thats a great idea. BUT we all know at this point it won;t happen that way. You have to remember we are not making any decision. We have to remember who is and think more of what they will ultimately do.

Its not about what we want or what the best choice is. It all comes down to two decision makers and what they want

We don't have to think of what they will ultimately do.  That will reveal itself in time.  Having an individual opinion about what the team should do is what message boards are all about, what conversations around the water cooler are all about, etc.

No...I don't think it's possible anyone can miss the big picture.  We are all drilled about what's PC and what's not PC.

Has nothing to do with PC, keep your twisted political agenda away from me. Has to do with giving up a kings ransom for a an facing looming suspension with a very real possibility of being found there’s more/ it happening again. You’re blind to a massive risk

Risk. You’re ignoring a massive looming suspension and risk it will happen again. This is signing josh Gordon pretending there is equal chance that he will be available. It isn’t equal chance. It isn’t one woman making accusations. I’m certain there are more.

To give up 3 1sts for a young QB with elite potential is one thing, to give up what Denver gave, #9, next years' first, two 2nd rd picks and a young TE and a starting DE?  For a 34 year old QB who missed the POs twice and is 1-3 the past five years? And Seattle's current defense is as good as Denver's (who over achieved last year and should regress back to the pack, they're not the Seattle defense of a decade ago that was elite for a five year stretch).

The move by Denver will generate interest and raise the acquisition price, but will look bad in three years unless they get incredibly lucky and make a run that takes them to the SB (because they're not getting there without a lot of luck, given their limited depth).

I'm not, this is under the condition that he's cleared to play by the NFL and all legal matters resolved.

Another way of saying it, see: POV matters, is that they traded those assets for a 9x Pro Bowler (in 10 seasons) who has been to two Super Bowls, averaged over 10 wins per year, thrown almost 300 touchdowns, over 100 passer rating, etc.

And let's not overrate his defense. Seattle has had a below average to bad defense for a number of years now.
