Cool that Spain won.

Didn’t see any of the game. Someone posted on another forum that top Soccer referees are as bad as the 4 major US Sports referees.

There are some serious questions to answer about the refereeing of Argentina's matches (and the refereeing of star players in general) in this tournament up to and including Yesterday, they've got away with clear fouls over and over again, Messi should've got a red card against Algeria in their opening game, absolutely clear as day nailed on 100 times out of 100 and wasn't called, then they've basically kicked their way through the tournament.

The Egyptian goal being chalked off was questionable with the offense being so far removed from the goal, but then Messi clearly stepped on Spence in the run up to their goal against England and it wasn't reviewed at all.

Last night they had Fernandez sent off, but Paredes had 3 or 4 clear bookable offenses that weren't called in the first half alone, Lisandro Martinez could and should have had at least one other yellow before he did finally get one, if they'd ended up with 9 men or less on the pitch they couldn't have had much complaint. Spain came to play football, Argentina came to kick the other team into submission.

Messi is a great player, arguably the best to ever do it (personally Maradona and the original Ronaldo are the best players I've ever watched), but the reffing leaves an impression of stage managing them to the final in this tournament that may not be deserved but will persist.

You must be quite pleased with Cucurella's play. He's been a monster left back now for a few years.

Yeah, he’s looked great, and is much needed.

Was hoping to add Rodri as well but it looks like with that back surgery it won’t happen until next season.

Politically he was pressured, and I believe there were some injuries that kind of made the stars align.

I'm not into soccer, haven't been since I was about 12 when I used to go to Washington Diplomats games. Got to meet a couple of legends, but at that age, didn't mean much to me, Pele and Johan Cruyff. So I didn't watch any of the World Cup, but I did watch some of the fan videos from tourists 'discovering' America. Those were fun.

How did things go in Philly? I saw that the Rock Curse struck at least once, prompting another country's fans to stand guard to prevent it happening to them! lol

Given how horribly the Union’s season started … worst record in the MLS, it is amazing that if the season ended today they would be in the Playoffs. An incredible turnaround. 10 games left in the season. They could move up two more standings positions as early as this weekend, and could be as high as 3rd in the East when the Regular Season ends.
