Bashing DeSantis and saying that he is not looking good for the primaries, does not mean that you support Trump.

If the Cowboys are playing the Giants, and you say the Giants have no shot, does that make you a Cowboys fan? It's okay to hate both, but have an opinion on who will win.

Yeah. I would prefer DeSanits over Trump for just the simple fact that I think DeSantis would leave when his term is up. But it's obvious by now that no one is beating Trump for the nomination.

Buddy, you have to accept reality. Trump is a cult leader who's popularity with his people is exponentially increased when he is "attacked" (i.e., charged for crimes he committed). When he gets indicted in GA, his numbers will go up more. He has tons more baggage than anyone in history, and it doesn't matter to the plurality/majority of the GOP primary electorate that worships him.

I wish we could get someone/anyone else in 2024. We can't. It's Trump. Accept it.

The "cult" youre referring to isnt big enough now.  The GOP will see that, plus he'll be knee deep in legal issues all the way through 2024.

I think you guys have a blind spot for DeSantis.  It doesnt behoove him to come out strong now and subject himself to more attacks.

But my opinion is that the GOP will see him as a cleaner, more polished version of Trump and could embrace him.  He has legit victories to tout and any of his losses can easily be sold as "moral victories" if you will.

There's a long way to go and things can change in an instant.   If Im the GOP, I let Trump absorb all the attacks then swoop in with another candidate, and by my estimate DeSantis is probably the closest.

Yeah, I've been saying for months that Ron won't get in, but a lot of people on here have pushed back and said he will.  To me, it's been obvious that Trump sharing a lane with anyone was a nonstarter from the get-go and that Trump would pound him into sand, but it took a while for that reality to come into view.

I guess we'll see.  It would be incredibly stupid, but it's possible that he'll get some bad advice and convince himself that he needs to capitalize on the momentum he built up last fall.

I keep trying to figure out if the New York AD is a fool or genius.

The indictments 100% keep Trump relevant and actually elevate his status.

I just cant figure out if the Dems want that or not.

By this time in 2020 all of the candidates had announced by now iirc, except Bloomberg and his campaign was a total disaster. I think Trump's legal issues actually help him in the gop primaries. He's too far ahead in every single poll for them all to be wrong.

I hope you're right, but I'm very skeptical. I'm not a big DeSantis fan, but he's preferable to Trump by a mile. As @Gannan said, he'd at least willingly leave office if he lost reelection. Also, DeSantis isn't a moron, whereas Trump is a dementia riddled imbecile. I do wonder what DeSantis would look like in a world without the MAGA cult.

The Democrats 100% want Trump as the nominee -- he's the easiest to beat since he is repellant to a majority of voters.

There's a little Monday morning QB'ing going on here.  Trump was already up significantly by the time the indictment came down.  He was down a couple months before but his attacks were in full effect and the tide had already turned and then some.

Here's the last batch of polling pre-indictment.

Trump +14

Trump +14

Trump +14

And this one came out on the day of the indictment, so it would've had to have been polled before it came down.

Trump +30

The race was already set.  The indictment just cemented it.

Maybe, but I think Trumps situation is basically unprecedented.  100% agree that the legal stuff is helping him now, Im not sure about the primaries though.  Its a risky proposition for the GOP.

I just dont see Trump going the distance based on getting indicted.  Once candidates start attacking him I think it will chip away at his momentum.

If Im Ronna McDaniel, I basically make a proposal to Trump, Ill call it the Obi Wan, Trump exits the race to "focus on his political legal battles" but becomes a GOP king maker rather than the candidate.   I should have been a political consultant

But like Vikas said, Trump winning the nomination is 100% fine with the left.  He's already lost once (twice really, when you factor in him dragging down the GOP tickets in the midterm).  He doesn't have the numbers.  Obviously the left is good with a guaranteed 2nd Biden term.

0% chance that Trump would agree to that.  Or that he would agree to any other negotiation with the GOP.  They literally can't offer him anything he wants.

Awww, does someone have the sads now that their golden boy to unseat Trump is DOA?

Haha, napoleon complex post right here. You're right though, barring the communists throwing Trump in jail, he's the nominee. Is what it is.

Atta boy, embrace the sadness after months of getting your hopes up. That level of delusion was never healthy but at least you've come out on the other end of it. Mike apparently still has a ways to go. But at least you can now get out ahead of this and just pivot to Trump's inevitable loss because of election fraud.

Aww, what an adorable little fantasy. How does it end? Does Rino Ron win the election and they all live happily ever after?

Imagine being so detached from reality that you actually believe Ronna McDaniel has any leverage whatsoever over Trump.

Hey, Trump got the second most votes in US history in 2020. No shame in being beaten by the most popular presidential candidate in US history. I think we can both agree that Biden's been an overwhelming success so far, so unseating him will be tough for Trump or Desantis.

I think it helps keep him relevant right now but hurts him long term.  Its just too much to distract from any sort of concrete political platform.

No way, I cant believe it.  Adults having a convo then WGB comes along and flips the monopoly board.  No way, this never happens.

 First Ronna strong-arming Trump into backing out of the race, and now this. Dude's got jokes today, that's for sure.

That was literally my point, little fella.  I'm saying he's been too distracted to actually establish a platform.

Maybe try and keep up or just let the adults talk.  Its amazing I can still have legit conversations with anyone on here but you.

Ya sure, that's the reason why he has no platform. And in other news, his dog ate his homework.
